Team announcement is Wednesday afternoon right?
Usually Thursday for Friday and on games.
But lots of games coming in short period of time so anything possible.
I think it will still be Thursday.

But next Tuesdays game could be as late as Monday night or even Tuesday morning.

One thing that bodes well is that last week our mid's were able to adapt to a clearance game where they weren't getting first use of the ball, another is that Tom Bellchambers isn't Nic Nat or Gawn; not even close.
Actually, Bellchambers' main strength is that he hits the ball to the advantage more often than not. It's pretty much the only thing he can do nowadays.

Would we rather rest Birchall now for him ready for Tigers? or have him go now and most likely rest for Tigers (or could he do both? the madman)
If rumor is correct i would rather he play this week to see how replacements fit into side
Then off for Richmond and back for Bulldogs.

Why would it be bad news for Skinner?

Skinner is like for like replacement for McStay. Ballenden more likely now with Archie out. I think there will be reluctance to bring in two new talls and a leaning toward one tall playing both forward and backing up Oscar and then another running player.

Lester injury doesn’t help either, it may mean Payne comes in and Gardiner plays the Lester role. That would make three new talls which I just can’t see happening.

Fair point, hoping Skinner still gets his chance though.

I don’t really see the issue in playing 3 new talls. Firstly, they are going to be playing 3 different roles. Secondly, we’re going to have to make changes anyway so there will be disruption regardless.

I’d rather make the obvious “like for like” changes than do anything which requires a change in system. Replacing talls with small means bigger changes than just personnel ones.

yep, agree with this. It's easier to explain the system than completely change the personnel.

Always wanted to do this --- Everyone aboard the Payne trainnnnnnnnnnn !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Out: McStay, Smith, Lester, Rich, Berry

In: Answerth, Witherden, Skinner, Mathieson, Robertson

Big O is going to have to go one out.

Very lucky to have Witherden and Answerth ready to slot in.

If Eagles was able to come in I'd put him in as our 2nd ruck but my understanding is he can't play for some reason?

Very hopeful Skinner gets his chance, big fan and think he can bring a lot. Fingers crossed.

Feel Dizzy will slide into Lester’s role which means either Payne or Eagles come in to play second tall down back. If Skinner comes in for McStay and Ballenden for Archie we are a very different looking team. Exciting to see what the future may hold for us without loading too much of the present hopefully.

I'm all for like for like, but will depend on who we're playing as well. Haven't watched the Bombers play a hell of a lot this year, but remember them making us look slow last year at the G. Looking at their injury list they have a hell of a lot more talent out than we do. No excuses at all for us.

And can't wait for team announcement, so much anticipation.

If T.Berry only had one touch I'd say he might be in trouble, but with two I reckon he's safe ;) For those who just look at the stat sheet, go back and watch his game.

And has it been mentioned by the club anywhere that Birch will be getting a rest, or are some of us on here just making assumptions that because he has an injury history & is 57 years old he will be rested?

Judging T Berry on possessions is not particularly fair. Fish commented on it yesterday and noted that he is a lock, because he does so much pressure work. He's Mitch Robbo 2.0. Defence first, then worry about the offence.

Plus, loved his involvement in Charlie's goal. Great volleyball tap.
So much pressure he has only laid 4 tackles in 3 games?

If that is the standard, then I obviously have completely different expectations in wanting a small forward to hit the scoreboard, actually get double figure stats and call me crazy, kick the odd goal now or then.

Fages said he would probably have a rest sometime in the next 4 games on Radio yesterday morning but absolutely no indication it would be this week. I'd say the Richmond or Dogs game are likely.

I watch every game a minimum of two times; trust me, Berry didn't improve the second time round.

As for the rest, see my previous post above.

This is a another big game for our boys
In theory Essendon could well be equal first if they win the postponed Melbourne game.
When you look at the injury list from both teams we look in better shape.
So no excuse guys.
Missing from each teams best 24

Essendon Injuries: Daniher-Fantasia-Heppell-Hooker-Langford-Laverde-Stringer- Ambrose

Bris Lions Injuries: Adams-Lester-Martin-McStay-Rich

With a bit of luck last time 7 goal McDonald-Tipungwuti gets gastro before the game

It's unfortunate that we're forced to make multiple changes at once but that's footy. We've had some pretty good fortune in the regard the past couple of season so this is a chance to test out depth. I'd definitely love to see Matty Eagles get a run and impose his physicality.

We also have Ambrose (6th in our BnF last year) out, who is ahead of Laverde.

No way Birch gets rested in this game IMO.
Not with both Lester and Rich out already.
3 changes to one line, I just can’t see happening.

Hi all, left field an all but here’s my go at selection;)
archie out
Eagles in.... bear with me!!
Andrews to deep full forward and eagles to tallest defender. Andrews is an elite mark which you can’t really say for Eric or mcstay. They can both play higher where they can use their pace and long kicking. Eagles has always impressed me in the neafl with his excellent intercept marking and fierce tackling. He can also be used as second ruck.
Tom berry should stay....for now

This is actually a bit exciting . For the first time this year we're going to get some idea of what the coaches really think of the next 8 or 10 guys on our list in line for selection.

It's also going to be refreshing to see some of these players perform ,how they handle the pressure.

As long as we win.

I'm promising no melt or over the top criticism if someone doesn't measure up. Everyone should sign up to that . We're going to have some nervous and rusty new faces.

I'm actually hoping for the opposite here.

Someone coming in and stamping their authority - be it midfield, forward or down back - somewhere, I really don't care.

I want them to make the coaches go "now why didn't we do that before?"

If coaches appear to be carrying the preferred team view, I want a player to step up and break it to pieces.
