Like a few before him, the leash is a lot longer for Gallagher than it is for others and we're just going to have to bear with his costly skills/decision making until he adjusts to the speed of the game, at least under the current coaching setup.

Plus with Garcia out the options are limited, we already brought in Baker...

Is what it is. I wouldn't mind seeing Gags go forward more often to give him less time/space with which to overthink or turn the ball over and let him ping a few shots on goal. West could move up the ground more often. Or he can just be the sub and AJ gets a go.
Not to dismiss Gallagher's weaknesses but a lot of us rued a lack of legspeed as the reason we failed to make finals in 2023. Gallagher's consisted selection is in direct response to that weakness.

It's very much a "we need more legspeed - no, not like that".

If someone a of Gallagher's speed was a better ball user, he wouldn't be a fringe talent on the margins of being selected, he would be a top player in the game.

We just have to accept the types of weaknesses in the team and to avoid the weakness of slowness we introduce others.

I'm hoping a bit like Vandermeer last week - another player who has some similarities to Gags in that they're both sub 6 foot players drafted for running elements and drafted as NAB League overagers - can piece together an elite game and prove us wrong.

I said this last week, if Vandermeer could become a competent offensive player then that solves a lot of problems for us.

He did have 17 goal assists last year but if he can maintain that production and add 25 goals to his name, then we’d all be thrilled.

McNeil is in a similar boat. They’ve been given a wealth of opportunities, it’s time to repay the faith to the coaches and actually produce.

The Busslinger obsession is the funniest meme on here atm. He only played half a practice game because after the pre-season the coaches had him behind Jones, Lobb, O’Donnell and Khamis and on a par with Gardner. He hasn’t done anything since and they’ve picked those blokes ahead of him. I don’t know why it’s surprising.

I’ll piss myself if Gardner is a late in.

I’m more concerned about how badly we stuffed up that draft. I know it was a pretty weak draft but Buss and Clarke our two first round picks have played a combined 3 quarters of footy.

Weddle and Darcy Jones went around the same picks and would be locked on best 22.

I heard Buss was in early yesterday. Not sure what happened, maybe a late change of mind. I think he will be fine in the long run. And will slot into our best 22.
Maybe we heard about Mihocek out and really don’t care about Cox. English may sweep behind the ball to try and negate Cox.

The Buss v Buku debate does take different paths.

Simply Buku has exposed form that shows he is not a KPD level AFL player. Buss has not had that opportunity yet and until he does it is merely supposition that his flaws will be exposed at AFL level.

Spot on he just hasn't done enough to warrant getting a game.. Might be another miss and he's not actually up to it which is a shame given we could have taken Josh Weddle over him

This is fine to say but when Buku and Baker are now in who also don't warrant it and have shown on multiple occasions they aren't up to it then questions should be asked,

Weddle was the pick now sure in hindsight but that doesn't have any context here when we are playing Buku in a position he is not built for and never will be

Realistically this week and last weeks teams are the weakest teams we have put on the park for years. We won last week because the opposition could not execute, the pies are different story. If Bevo can conjure a win it would up there with his best H&A coaching wins ever.
Yep injuries played a big factor no doubt but team balance looked 1 tall short last week and now we are even more undersized now going against a team with more talls and significantly better than last week (minus Larkey)
