Sadly, Pods wont get a recall. Our forward line is firing.

No change for mine. Swap Lyons and Crouch sub.

And I'm not convinced Pods would want to be picked. There might be a part of him that would like to finish off against his old side, but he's been pretty clear about not wanting be picked ahead of younger developing players. Gained a lot of respect for how he's approached this year.

I'm one of Crouch's biggest fans but he had an absolute shocker. Just didn't make good decision with a lot of his kicks, was caught out in quite a few clearances. Just had one of those days where nothing really worked for him. Is it worth dropping him? Probably not, but he could well be made the sub.

VB had one of his best games for the whole year. No way I can see him getting dropped. Lyons is the only one that I can see getting dropped, and that's simply because he's a been the sub a couple of weeks in a row. Grigg could be worth a game, has had a week off so will be nicely rested :). Thompson could be rested, but I don't think he'll want to be.

Out: Lyons
In: Grigg

Sub: M Crouch.

For those wanting Grigg in, I'm with you, but he didn't play in the SANFL yesterday. Don't quote me, but I don't think we've brought any fringe players back in this season when they've missed a SANFL game due to being on standby for the seniors. If we're bringing in a mid for Crouch (who was terrible) or Lyons (2 x sub games in a row is often a selection death sentence), my money's on Kerridge. CEY might also be a chance. We can only hope it isn't Wright or D-Mac. Eww.

It would be pretty ****ed if Lyons gets squeezed out of the side right before finals. His stint since coming in for the Richmond game has been his best at AFL level. Since CEY is out of form, I also don't see anyone outside of the 22 who would be better.

Not a good game for Crouch - his poor kick led to the first goal for the Eagles, couple other poor kicks as well. Not sure if you drop a kid though after one poor game. Maybe sub. Dunno. He'd be the only one on the bubble. Maybe rest Thommo.

I can't go past the fact that he has had to change his game from mostly handball disposal to meet the Walsh more-kick/handball style. He is now a lesser player.

From what has been posted here concerning Grigg's injury/fall from grace, it seems he may have to bone up on the theory of 'elite habits'!

I'd do that.

Lyons starts, Crouch sub.

Aim to sub Thommo off as early as possible.

When it's finals, Lyons back to sub - I don't want him to be, but he's having a real impact as sub; that's how we need to use him for now.
Yep, unfortunately for Lyons teams tend to keep the sub the same during finals. Luckily the shit rule is gone next year though.

If Richmond win I would rest a couple

If North win I would go unchanged

No way. We need to go guns blazing. We're not top 4 material. We need to be at full throttle to do some damage. Anything less will result in a loss next week and the week after

You guys are scary good. Just about the best in the comp at the moment. Praying we beat North this week to avoid another smashing in Adelaide

So the ramifications are ...
  • Richmond win - Bulldogs win - AFC win or lose = we play Bulldogs in Melbourne
  • Richmond win - Bulldogs lose - AFC lose = we play Bulldogs in Melbourne
  • Richmond win - Bulldogs lose - AFC win = we play Bulldogs in Adelaide
  • Richmond lose - Bulldogs win - AFC lose = we play Bulldogs in Melbourne
  • Richmond lose - Bulldogs win - AFC win = we play Richmond in Adelaide
  • Richmond lose - Bulldogs lose - AFC lose = we play Richmond in Melbourne
  • Richmond lose - Bulldogs lose - AFC win = we play North in Adelaide
Right?

It's a hard one.

The biggest thing we have on our side at present is momentum - which can be an irresistible force.

But we also need to be fresh and firing for the finals.

I'd be reluctant to now rest anyone through omission, but I'd rest them within the game, where possible, if the other result allows.

Ie -

Sub Thommo off, if we can.
Have Danger resting forward more.
Concede some ruck contests for give Jacobs a rest.

Right?
we could also play Sydney in some scenarios if they were to lose.
