Jackson to centre half back (Let's see if he really is a unicorn).
Voss, Treacy and Amiss up forward (With Sturt, Banners, Freddy ect).
Bring in Draper. Hugh Davies is one and done. Harsh from one game but he looks like a poor man's Zac Dawson. (aka - suited to WAFL).

Didn’t Stephen Hill sleep over at the club to get round the clock treatment for a cork? Got up for the next game I think.
Hope it didn’t have anything to do with thigh problems later in his career.

The Davies dropping calls are absolutely cooked
It makes sense if you're going for experience.

You bring Draper in for Davies, Ryan plays tall and Hughes comes in to cover Ryans role. Wouldn't be everyones ideal option but it does have some merit

Hughes can't play Ryan's role. It would have to be Chappy I think. Even Draper might be better suited based off that pre-season game.
I don't think anybody can play Moose's role, which is why our centreline is going to have to work harder to keep it forward, which is a hard ask

Only one between Draper and Davies will and should play...Playing both of them would be disaster...
Sure, so how does the guy who just got pantsed at Peel playing the same role Davies has looked incredible in, get ahead of him.

No, it doesn't make sense, those extra 10 games games mean basically nothing. Seriously, Draper was terrible for Peel and is not getting back ahead of the guy thay pushed him out

but Davies played out of his skin - is 1 possession in a game going to look more appealing? yes he did a lot of defending, but Draper has looked awesome in some games

Don't mind the Jackson back thoughts, could play on McLean when he is down there.
Left field, but could work.
When he rucks in defence and someone take Amartey, like Ryan.
They rotate anyway. That Amartey is a bloody good mark though. I wouldn't be against Hughes either

You're talking about Oscar McDonald right? coming in for Pearce? who has been at three clubs now and been bang average at all of them.

When they were mentioning McDonald winning two one on ones all year, they were talking about Logan McDonald of the Sydney Swans.

I think Davies' defensive IQ gets underrated. Like he throws himself in the contest and isn't the easiest player on the eye skill wise, but at Peel level he has developed well to lead an inexperienced backline, something Draper can't do. While Davies ain't gonna lead an AFL backline anytime soon, those skills do translate. The quadruple effort on the wing might've been his standout play, but his best play to me was 2 minutes in, Lukosius has Pearce beat out the back and Davies runs about 20m off his opponent to spoil. Pearce let him know that Davies just saved his ass. That defensive IQ to me is the big separator, coz realistically they're both gonna lose 1 on 1s coz as 2nd year players they're fighting in a different weight division.

Mind you, at least defensively, given we're not gonna do anything weird positionally I think your best bet is Draper and Davies together. Like they're probably gonna lose contests against the talls, but someone like Hughes isn't exactly gonna solve that problem. I rate Chapman highly, but Chapman did not fare well when he had to defend Sam Darcy once Draper got injured.

I think you can make the case that Draper and Davies together means we'll struggle even more if Sydney decide to tag Clark again, and because of that we should only play 1 of them. But purely in terms of defensive structure, Davies and Draper together is probably our best of some bad choices.

Having Darcy and Jackson means we have the flexibility to be creative. It wouldn't be ideal to have Jackson down back, but he can be that defensive mark down there, and then we can have someone like Voss up forward. JLo alluded to having some ideas he wasn't willing to share with the reporters, and wanted to keep under wraps for the actual game.
Sometimes opportunities develop when a star goes down. Look at what it did for Mitch Marsh when Cameron Green was injured in the Ashes - this former whipping boy ended up becoming Australian Cricketer of the Year.

The DD option would certainly be interesting to see...but I think that's too much KPD inexperience to carry.
I think Hughes will come in. We all know his limitations but he's a 100 gamer and will support our defensive system better than Draper. And if we are to have any chance then our system has to triumph.

Yeah if there are not confident in both Davies and Draper then play one with Hughes in, but don’t swap the whole side around to try and fill one position

McDonald was good for the Blues but couldn't get on the park

Would've be handy backup here but again he can't get on the park
