They have 11-12 Premiership players out there today, most of whom are in their prime. A handful of them are amongst the best in the comp in their position.

To suggest their list isn't as good as ours is bizarre. Potential and high picks doesn't equal production.

Long term they're probably shot because they haven't had the draft picks, particularly the high end midfield talent, but right now their list is clearly better than ours.

I agree in relation to the draft pick argument, I was more pointing out the sheer competitiveness of the group in comparison to ours

They beat one of the best teams in the comp on pure pressure and gut running

Mind you it was at MCG lol

Off the top of my head, I'd have thought our issues also include:
- Our midfield is easily bullied by bigger, more mature bodies
- A general inability to lock the ball in our forward line
- We can't yet sustain intense pressure across the ground for a whole game (as Richmond showed yesterday, intense pressure wins games)
- we become static, for large parts of the game
- inability of talls to consistently clunk marks
- a lack of balance in our midfield mix
- our key defenders aren't currently able to cope with gun key position forwards
Time will help with some of these issues. Our young midfielders will develop stronger bodies. Our young team will become fitter.

Our issues are certainly fixable, but some will certainly need a fair bit more time

l'm not sure but l think Greenwood should come in for CCJ... ;)

you’re shitting on pink, the best key defender in SANFL last year and want Maley in, from the Diamond Valley/Northern footy league, is the Answer to all our woes. ******* LOL
Agree . I don’t see Maley worthy of an AFL debut already and just after really 1 good game . His physique / fitness levels do not scream of a being an AFL footballer. Suburban footballer at best .
Much rather Sellers or even Chom at CHF . (Even though Chom has been being prepped for a back line role at present)

After Clarko's comments post game about being beaten up by bigger bodies at the contest I would be absolutely stunned if we don't bring in Greenwood.

Maley looked great in the 2's but I think you have to reward Sellers' consistency so far this season. Same with Chom.

In: Greenwood, Sellers, Comben
Out: CCJ, Tucker, Corr

Yep pretty much spot on.
I'm not happy with how we've gone so far but it was expected with how our draw has landed.
One of corr or pink needs to go out for comben. I'd drop corr. Pink still has scope for improvement. I don't think corr does.
Sellers for ccj seems obvious. Larkey likes playing with him that's enough for me.
Greenwood and tucker are both limited footballers with decent endeavour. Greenwood gives us more flexibility

How many games has he played?
What’s your point? He’s not 18.

My point is that he’s a limited ruckman. Not questioning whether he’s good enough, or worth his place in our side or whether he’s doing well. I like him and appreciate his commitment.

He will never be in the top half dozen rucks in the comp as he just doesn’t have the attributes. And if you want to go into tap work then it’s not as good as early Goldstein.

He’s a physical ruckman with limited mobility. If you think otherwise then you’re deluded.

It sounds like they are taking their time with Comben so l think it might be just Greenwood and Sellers in for CCJ and someone else( maybe Stevo) with Sellers as sub and Ford getting promoted..

of course it matters how many games he’s played. Experience is experience, and rarely do you have an 18-21yr old ruckman having a clubs number 1 spot.

So yes, as he gains more experience he will improve. How many games has he played?

I’ll use an example of what experience would have helped him do vs Carlton. There was a 1v1 deep in our D pocket, he was there able to create a third in the contest, however didn’t and Pink said, third man up and kill the ball.

Next time, because of experience. He should be third up and spoil the ball

There was a whole thread on this over summer

It was one big hamster wheel

Just my personal opinion, but I despise the idea of using a KPF as a sub. Larkey needs aerial support up forward, Sellers on the bench doesn't help for most of the game.

Also ideally your sub comes on without replacing an injured player, tactically you would want someone with some pace to use their fresh legs late in the game.

Out: pink, laz and CCJ
In: Comben, Phillips and Finnbar

B: Fisher Dawson Corr
HB: Mckercher Comben Sheezel
C: Stephens Wardlaw Tucker
HF: Simpkin Finnbar Curtis
F: Sleevo Larkey Zurhaar
R: Xerri LDU Powell
I: Scott Phillips Duursma McDonald
Sub: Ford

Finnbar over sellers better like for like and also looked better in training today but could see this go either way

Toby Nankervis has 3x premiership medallions and he's the archetype physical ruckman with limited mobility. Often the top half dozen rucks in the comp are unable to influence games enough to carry their team to grand finals.
