Gray is not a small forward! hes a mid. if we cant fit him into the midfield he should be dropped for a forward!!
Agree. Ken gives players a call up on the basis of their being the number 1 SANFL player. Sam Gray will always be a step above the SANFL but although he is an AFL player he cannot fit anywhere. This has been tried with plenty of our players in the past.

Puzzling selections last week and this week too. Surely, if White is not injured, he is given more than a week given what he has offered in the past (i.e. speed out of stoppage).

Ryder back is a no brainer obviously, but surely S Gray is under the pump and even Broady too. I think we have too many half back flankers who cant rotate through the middle (broady, hartlett, houston, pittard). As for Sam Gray, i would like to see him played through the middle more, otherwise he is not great value.
I like this post but it needs more Amon he seems to fly under radar in here and on the field his 3-4 classy disposals per game don't outweigh the 10 other crappy ones or missed tackles

Lol, so we play White with no match fitness for an away game against the premiership favourites but we drop him with some match fitness for a home game against the wooden spoon favourites? Kern pls

I didn't support White coming straight back in with no SANFL, but since he did I would've rather we backed him in than given Sam Gray another game. At least White has an excuse for his poor performance last week.
Agree. Completely ridiculous.

Ken says White only came in because Ryder was missing. Like I said, he was selected to ensure we kept up forward pressure against a side that is notorious for quick transition from the back and to play pure counter attack football. Almost came off too. Against Carlton, he's not needed because Carlton don't play like GWS or Adelaide and with Ryder we don't need to play counter attack.

These are the games in which you pump experience into your younger players.

But when told that Kruezer was going to miss, he said that 'we'll have to rethink', since it's pretty obvious that Ryder is going to win taps pretty easily now.

Close, but Westhoff is a winger who will float into either 50 if he thinks we need him there. Trengove will be play forward unless our defenders are getting beaten consistently in the air and Westhoff is on the bench.
Westhoff is not a winger, hes too slow. We lack genuine wingers that can link our play. Its a weakness of the team. White was a genuine winger but I'm pretty sure injuries have finished him. If he was injured from the GWS game then my conclusion is Ken has absolutely no idea what he is doing

You can say that he's not, but he has played on the wing all year and Hinkley will continue to play him there until westhoff retires.

lol no it didn't.

I like how Ken makes it sound as though White coming in for Ryder was a no brainer and now White going out for Ryder is a no brainer. Just further confirmation that he plays a best 22 not a structured football team.

Yeah I think the past fortnight confirms it.

Frustrating to say the least.

The only poster who sees any rhyme or reason in Ken's selections is Janus. Is Janus Ken?

Ken: "White's going back [to the SANFL] ... Whitey probably got in with a bit of luck because Paddy did something silly. Paddy was always coming back in and he [White] knew that."

Sounds like he set Whitey up to fail.
This type of comments is what makes me worry that Ken and Co. have not idea what they are doing.

Anyone else confused by Kens logic?

Such a weird call White for Ryder.

Only thing that explains that call is that we must be planning on playing Trengove forward, when I was personally expecting him to go back

White comes in to add forward line pressure against a team notorious for creating run off of half-back and through the midfield when we lose our main ruck and so have to go defensive.

White goes out when we play against a team that is based on a more defensive, methodical style when we gain our main ruck back and can become more balanced by placing Trengove up forward.
