It’s a strange one to have Trengove most of the year in the key defensive post and to be fair he has done a good job. To switch him for Young at this stage is interesting. On form Cordy was the tall to miss. Having said that Young can do a job especially if our on ballers get on top
If our defense becomes exposed, we can always switch Young forward for Naughton as well. With the game shaping up as a wet & windy one, it likely won't be a high scoring match.

You said if ain’t broke don’t fix it, and yet you want to bring in English for Dickson and completely change our structure.
Lol, you're like a broken record with this structure stuff.
Yeah, structure is so important that we kicked 10 unanswered goals in the second half last week without Dickson, who got injured.

Even if we were a side that depended heavily on a rigid structure, that still doesn't justify the inclusion of a kid in his second game in what's basically a final.

I want to hold judgement until the actual game plays out but I don't see what Cordy offers over Trengove. Maybe we don't see what Cordy does during the game which Bevo rates, but from the naked eye, Trengove looks superior in one-on-one contests, as a marking presence and he can go into the ruck when needed. I trust Bevo in general but his odd calls are not always correct, I hope this one is though.

Pretty disappointed Trengove is out. I know it's just due to structure, but I'd have thought he'd built up some credits with good form in the second half of the year. Pretty harsh to judge his form compared to Young last week when Trengove had to ruck, and going past that he's more deserving than both Young and Cordy in getting a game, due to extended good form.

I am now that extra little bit nervous. I hope it isn't a factor.

Happy to see West back though.

Im wondering if trengrove isnt a little beat up from rucking, and this bev is taking the opportunity to see if Youngs performance was a one of?

Trenners disposal is also pretty bad, he can kick some howlers? dunno ...

Funny thing is Young is listed as same height and weight as trengrove. are they fibbing?

I reckon Lewis is taller than Trengove now. His height of197 was his height while drafted with a very late birthday, but when I saw him at training a few weeks ago he looked the same height as Shaq. Reckon he has grown a few cm. Weight wise I reckon they'd be similar. Trengove doesn't actually have much size for a more mature player.

Trengove out is baffling...

If O'Brien monsters tim in the ruck

O'Brien is out, Jacobs is rucking and will no doubt win the hitouts but English has him well covered around the ground

Fair enough, to me bringing in a tall for a small is the exact definition of changing something that doesn’t need to be changed. We obviously don’t get each other’s point so we’ll leave it. Go Dogs.

Not having a pure shut down defender in the side, which is what Trenners is, isn’t as big an issue as it may usaually be. If it’s a wet and slippery game as is being predicted, I can’t see key fwds being too much of a danger in 1v1 contests. No ones getting hit lace out and marking contests become even under those conditions. Young and Cordy will be more than sufficient. Having a player like West come in over the extra tall makes perfect sense.

He's still had some big games this year, and is a powerful unit with plenty of experience.

As good as Young was last weekend, who was his opponent? For most of the game he was zoning off Lachie Keeffe, who's a snail. He wasn't playing on Cameron or Finlayson, by far GWS's best tall forwards, who weren't playing. Even in the first quarter, he was beaten twice by Keeffe in the strength battle.

Again, still a great performance, but Adelaide's forward line should be a much tougher challenge, and it's disappointing not at least having the option of Trengove. I know many people like how Beveridge is giving youngsters a chance, but Rhylee West? Giving him his second game in a do-or-die clash? As opposed to a battle hardened Trengove off the back of a strong performance? Personally, I don't agree with the decision.
Lachie Keefe, 204cm and 95kg. Pretty big for a small.

Might want to watch last weeks game again. Dickson played all bar majority of last quarter.
I didn't realise Dickson sat out the last quarter. I assumed he pulled up sore from training this week.

What's the extent of the injury?

Not sure. There was a ground ball contest and stoppage at the end of the 3rd qtr last week where he looked to have tweeked his hammy. Sat out the last qtr and now missing this week. Pretty sure that’s why he’s out.

Except the forecast seems to be pointing to less and less likelihood of rain, and Adelaide have a plethora of talls that could get ahold of us if the weather is decent and our mids don't get on top. Also relies on Timmy being able to ruck half decently after gastro without a recognised chop out. Risky, but hopefully works out.
