Changes vs Giant Whinging Snowflakes

I hate the Giants so much stupid plastic team. Got every priority pick, Ward and our captain and still haven’t won a premiership. Keen to smash them on Saturday.
Totally and utterly agree.

They have no soul as a football club

I get where you are coming from but MC is never going to make 5 changes to a side that won by 7 goals. Especially if it includes bringing in two debutants and one 2-gamer. Maybe if we were no chance at finals it'd be a chance to "play the kids" but we are a 75% chance of playing finals at this stage.

Lobb and LJones (if fit) seem likely additions and if so then Buku and Bruce seem the obvious outs.

However I have a problem with bringing in two players for one game and dropping them straight away. Especially Buku who needs career development and time to find the pace of the seniors. Why would MC bring him in just to drop him again the next week? It achieves nothing for the side or the player. I suspect it'll happen though. Everyone will applaud when Lobb replaces him but it's been another mysterious episode of team selection in my view. Maybe they were worried Buku would have kicked 10 against the Bullants?

I'd love to see Cleary get a run but I can't see MC dropping Doc. Maybe VDM takes a break? And if Cleary does play, for the love of Dog Bevo, please guarantee him a minimum of two games.

I hate these VFL byes. They are shocking momentum stoppers. Couldn't they at least organise a practice match or something? Richmond VFL side has a bye too. Why not play 4 x 20 minute quarters against them? Or what about ol' mates St Bedes? Surely we could rustle up a game against them.
We ended up winning by 7 goals but if Wright doesn't hit the post early in the last who knows what could've been,

Bruce and Buku are no brainers and have to come out and really shouldn't have come in so for me it's more or less 3 changes and they're fairly obvious ones.

Keath is just an absolute liability with his disposal now and it hurts us too frequently, Doc was better this week but Clearly is just dominating VFL and needs to play and West had a nice crumbing goal but was pretty much unsighted the rest of the game Clarke/Arty are natural forwards and we still lack another natural forward

I've arrived at the conclusion that Khamis won't make it with us. There just doesn't appear to be a position suited to him in our team. We have better forwards who are either taller or stronger and he lacks size and/or pace for the backline. It would be a great feel good story for him to become at least a semi-regular player in the firsts, but unfortunately, after 4+? years on our list he may be better off trying somewhere else.
I get that he has been thrown around like a pin ball which may have affected his development but when he does appear at senior level I can't see a meaningful role for him. Gladly take a bullet if I'm wrong.

Hogan out is big blow for the Giants. This week they’re only playing 2 key forwards and no backup ruck but they might swing Himmelberg forward for a bit of assistance given they have plenty of key defenders.

Maybe we might have lost by 8 or 9 goals? Maybe we might have won by more than 7 goals? Interesting questions to ponder. What about any of the other singular moments in the game, how might have they affected the final result?

The point being yes we won by 7 goals but it wasn't a dominant 7 goal win where we got there early and maintained we ground them down and got the job done in the end but there were some clear and obvious guys that need to be replaced despite the win

I would like Lobb to have a few weeks in the reserves, not just play well in a thrashing. However in saying that we sorely missed a tall get-out option against the Bombers and a decent back-up ruck.

Out: Khamis
In: Lobb

I have a theory that jacked coaches get more out of their players.

Check out Bevo’s cannons when he arrived in 2015, Hardwick’s and Goodwin’s general physiques etc versus Dew’s.

That being the case I think GWS will do ok with Kingsley’s Bevo-like artillery. He’s done ok with a so-so side.

Reckon we’ll get them by 20. Bevo to bench an extra 10kg during the week to get ready.

Baz due to play his 100th.

There was talk of Baz's one handed tackle being potentially assessed by the MRO. I'm guessing he's been cleared seeing as though we haven't heard anything?

I think Khamis and Bruce out are obvious required changes.

Lobb back in.

Who replaces Bruce will be interesting, likely to be a match up with Cadman, perfect chance to give Buss a run or do we bring ODonnell straight back in.

Not sure where the Jones talk is coming from thought tigers was the earliest he’d be back, last medical report had him 3-5 weeks away.

Liked Garcia and Jones games in the VFL but don’t see them coming back in maybe as sub

I find it interesting the calls for Lobb to come back in to cover the second ruck position. Lobb offers zero forward and Buku got to more contests in the front half, than Lobb who is always 10m behind where he should be in the forward 50. Therefore why not just play Sweet 2nd ruck and have Tim play 50:50 ruck/fwd just to lighten the load for a week. Let Lobb earn it. Not his fault it was the Bullants, but I’d give him another week in the 2’s to see if he really wants it.

JOD would be available this week I presume. Straight back in for Bruce if he is. Buku's selection last week was as much to reward his VFL form over Lobb's AFL form for that week. But, Buku's not at the level and Lobb should replace him.

Messages sent in the form of Lobb and Williams omissions and hopefully received by the them and wider group. Bevo suggested both would be back for this game in his presser.

Out: Buku, Bruce, ?
In: Lobb, JOD, Williams

Broken hand. On light duties.

Lobb offers nothing yet is at pretty much a goal a game and a mark inside 50 a game whilst also giving a genuine chop out in the ruck,

They took countless intercept marks for a reason Lobb surprisingly brings the ball to ground a lot,

Why do we continue to want to move the AA ruck out of his position to bring in Sweet?

At least Tom Green isn't playing this time. Even if Toby is

No Hogan either

Going to need Lobb to bring it to ground.

GC had more inside 50s today and couldn't score against them .. Taylor and Buckley killed them

I'd like to play Sweet but only if we're giving Tim a week off. I don't know that it makes a lot of sense to play Sweet and compromise Tim though.

I suspect if our hand was forced, and hypothetically Jamarra, Bruce and Lobb all couldn't play, we'd consider having Tim play as one of our KPF's but yeah other than that, it's a no from me.

Agreed,

If there is anything wrong with Tim throw in Sweet no worries but otherwise it just seems far too illogical give how well Tim has played this year
