Clarke had 4 pressure acts. For a small forward , thats not really acceptable.

FWIW, our running defenders bramble had 3, baker 4 and dale 5, combined with 4 from sam darcy and those are the 5 players with who applied the least amount of pressure from both sides in the game. Darce is a 208cm key position player, the others are small and fast....
He played 59 of 129 minutes. From the time he come on early in first til half time hawks dominated territory. So while I agree it’s still to low there are some factors to take into account

From watching the VFL Freijah and Buss both need to be in and have been very good all year, Garcia needs more of a run on ball as does Sanders,

We aren't winning with the mature guys in there now shake it up

This is more it for me,

Reality is like it or not we will be lucky to make finals and will have no impact if we do somehow make it,

The kids are the clear standouts every week in the 2s bring them in and give them genuine roles and responsibilities
But are we not winning because the mature guys are in there, or are we not winning because we are carrying too much inexperience? It's hard to argue one way or the other.

My personal view is that it's round 9. We've played like shit, particularly offensively, but have shown some defensive improvement. Three finals teams last year were at similar W-L. It's not over and if we truly do see our list as being able to compete, it's not the right time to throw the baby out with the bathwater. Especially without a first rounder.

My other problem with shaking it up with the kids is that we give Beveridge an out. If we start naming more than the 8 players under 50 games we already have, expectations get lowered. We need to see whether he can turn this around, because if he can't, he absolutely needs to move on.

Yeah two scrubbed kicks were not great. Which player did he lose in transition?
TBH I have NFI who 90% of the players that the Hawks named on the weekend were, so I couldn't tell you. He marked a couple of the Hawks' high defenders throughout and he got sucked into the ball way too easily, I remember Gallagher in particular picking up his man at one point in the second quarter in transition. Not on his lonesome in that at all, but combined with the other things, I just don't think he's quite ready.

Outside of a couple the mature guys definitely are not standing up consistently, nor are they showing leadership, and no matter whether you are mature or not lack of form will not win you games

Out: JJ, Libba (concussion), JOD (quad), Williams,
In: Cleary, Keath, Bedendo, Sanders/Daniel.

JJ & Williams were the biggest culprits against hawks it seems. Bramble & Dale too. Probably Bramble likely be dropped over JJ but JJ is 1 of the older brigade and shouldn't be just running about hoping to get cheap possies.

Final thoughts

IN West, Sanders, Daniel, Busslinger
OUT Liberatore, Baker, Bramble, Khamis/O’Donnell (probably Khamis)

FB Khamis/O’Donnell, Jones, Richards
HB Johannisen, Busslinger, Dale
C Williams, Bontempelli, Harmes
HF West, Naughton, Vandermeer
FF Clarke, Ugle-Hagan, Darcy
FOL English, Treloar, Macrae
INT Duryea, Daniel, Sanders, Garcia
SUB Gallagher

Freijah to debut, Buss spent a little bit of time in rehab today.

Would love to see them both, but happy at least Freijah will debut. Sanders will come in for Libba.

I expect Keath to come in for one of Buku or JOD at this stage.

Can’t wait to see both of those boys at senior level. Hope it’s both.
I'm a-Freijah might miss the Buss on that.

He's reportedly spent some time in rehab. Wouldn't want to start his debut game under a slight injury cloud.
