Not keen on the Tiggers on the rebound

Sent from my iPhone using BigFooty.com

We are more than capable of beating the Tiggers we just need to play well and if we do we should have them covered and won’t matter whether Tiggers are on the rebound or not.

We need to start playing consistent four quarters and result will take care of itself

I would be happy with any of the following getting an extended run in place of Cordy and Hannan.

McNeil, Wallis, or Buku.

We’ve also got Croz and Williams who are great options as medium defenders once they come good.

McNeil is surely in this week after the game he had, and I'd imagine it's either Buku or O'Brien for Cordy.

Wallis though.. I love the guy, and really want to see him do well, but he looked well out of his depth against the Swans. Wasn't sticking his tackles, looked even slower than usual, and just seemed a complete non-factor when we didn't have the ball. McNeil, Garcia or even West in as a pressure forward would offer a lot more. Hate to say it, but he really doesn't look AFL standard any more. I hope he can sort things out over the course of this year and become a contributor again, but the Sydney game really didn't give me much hope of that.

You don’t value the goal (would back him to kick his other shot 9/10) as well. If he adds a goal and a half a week, that is more than any of those you have listed are going to kick.

I just don’t think we need more pressure smalls. We already have: Libba, Hunter, Smith, Smith, Scott, Treloar, Dunkley, Weightman, Vandemeer, and JJ running through the HF flank. None of those can be counted on to kick goals week in week out except Cody. Wallis has proven that when he plays he hits the scoreboard. We need another goal kicker.

I also value Wally’s leadership, which we are seriously lacking at the moment.

Now this is some real savage Pro Wallis Derangement Syndrome.

He has kicked 1.2 goals per game across his last 25 with the club. 4 of those games he came on as sub for less than 50% time on ground. So that brings it up to closer to 1.4 goals a game.

Those are just facts.

Let him play another couple games and if he doesn’t keep hitting the score board send him back to the VFL.

If you are going to disagree at least put forth your alternative player.

Please let it be Mitch Hannan. 🤣

He was shit the other night, he’s been shit for a couple of years. It’s time to move on SD.

And bringing out his stats from 2 years ago isn’t helping your argument the way you think it is.

If Wallis starts dominating the 2’s and then comes in to the side and does the same but then starts getting dropped, by all means, go your hardest at why he should be playing. Don’t do it now though when his form suggests anything but deserving a spot.

Here's your choice:
A covid-recovering Martin
or
A standard preforming Sweet

Who you picking?
There is no chance either will be coming in. I mean we played English by himself against Gawn & Jackson, why would we bring in support for an inferior duo? Especially coming off English’ best game for the club. We’ve had our fair share of issues to start the year but how English is holding up in the ruck actually hasn’t been one of them.

We can’t throw English in on his own against Soldo and Nank.. surely?

I think that the rules around rucking states that they can only have one player contesting the ruck at a time. When English needs a rest then Hannan will chop out. It'll be fine. We won clearances against Melbourne comfortably when English rucked against Gawn and Jackson.

Two years ago? These are his last 25 games all of which are inside of the last two years aside for 3.

90% of the goals you are using as your proof are from 2 seasons ago.

His football since then has been ordinary (those are the facts). Hence not being best 22 in that time and his game last Thursday being the justification for him being out of the side.

As I said, wait till his form in any side warrants pressure for selection before you push hard for his case. Otherwise it comes off as being a pretty bad judge.

Or, if you want to push your case purely because you like him, go ahead. Just don’t try and tell us water isn’t wet and the sun isn’t hot.

English cleared to play.
At this stage O'Brien looks like he needs more time so I'll reward VFL form.

Out: Wallis, Cordy
In: McSteal, Bukes

Scott or McSteal sub

Do we really have to run him into the ground though? He’ll be lucky to make it through to round 10 if this is how we plan to use him. Yeah he held up well against Gawn and Jackson but look at how he performed against Pittonet whose a more bash & crash type than Gawn/Jackson. Pittonet wore him down and De Koning jumped all over him and he got absolutely smashed all day.

Nank and Soldo are both crash and bash types, probably the hardest duo in the comp to come up against to be honest. There will be no let up all day.

Besides as good as Timmy played last week still giving up our forward 50 stoppages is not a good gameplan idea, we lost every single one that was just waltzed out when Hannan rucked. Then watching Hannan walk to the centre square is just cringe.

Timmy’s been great but let’s support him properly

Did you happen to notice where Tim was during those F50 stoppages? He was set up about a kick away, ready to intercept the dump kicks out of F50. It worked beautifully.

We don't need to win those F50 stoppages if we are winning the ball back anyway. Its certainly not worth bringing in a spud tall to compete in those ruck contests.

Hannan is a liability as is Wallis. McNeil probably in for Scott or Vanders as the sub. Sweet or Martin have to come in for Hannan he's useless as a forward and as a ruck. TOB for Cordy

If we were to bring in Stef Martin he would be playing mostly forward anyway. Tim would still be taking the same amount of ruck contests. It makes no difference to Tim who takes the ruck when he's resting. Tim wants to be the primary ruck this year and so far he's doing a great job at it. He has been the best performed ruck in the comp so far depending on how you choose to weight the importance of hitouts.

Have Weightman play Hannan's medium forward role, bring McNeil in as a small forward. TOB in for Cordy, in defense and to chop out in the ruck.

We need a genuine 2nd ruckman we perform substantially better with a genuine 2nd ruckman the "chop out" is for minimal time and drains Tim in ruck contests. We need a genuine 30% CBA ruckman not a go in for 1 or 2
