AFLW 2024 - Round 10 - Chat, game threads, injury lists, team lineups and more.
Just went back through Cal Twomey’s phantom draft form guide to see when Humphrey first popped upHumphrey was starting to crack the 10 towards the end of the season with his big finish. followed by runner up in the Morrish medal.
Shocked that neither Clarke or Keeler are in there! He was there in September, effectively replaced by Barnett in this update
Charlie Clarke who has some fans on this board for our last pick also dropped out, replaced by Rowston
Darcy Jones not getting a mention either
Yep, that coincides with his big finish to the year. He had a game in round 14 where he'd just come back from injury and kicked 4.5 and had 31 disposals - this is when everyone stood up and took notice as he'd missed the champs.Just went back through Cal Twomey’s phantom draft form guide to see when Humphrey first popped up
Was ranked at 7 in his August update released on September 4 after not being in the top 30 a month earlier
You're working with the Tigers I'm pretty sure.
Hazzard a guess at any of the below (we should make them pay dearly if they're that hungry)
St.Kilda - 9, 28 (Humphrey/Ginbey)
Carlton - 10, 29 (Busslinger)
Bulldogs - 11, 21 (Phillipou)
WCE 8, F4 (+token pick 70+)?
Could Allen be developed into a Blicav's swiss army knife type? That's the player i think of when think of his size and athletic profile.
I can’t remember the last time the Eagles went for the obvious/consensus pick since Sheed. Last year most thought it would be Johnson (once Freo ruined our plans taking Erasmus).

Interested why not Tsatas? Behind Ashcroft probably the biggest possession winner. Can play inside a bit. Tall and fast with good run and carry.I'd be happy with Phillipou, Humphrey, Mackenzie or Clark with our first pick, but not Tsatas (hopefully he doesn't slide).
Now Now Mr Monocle, don't get my hopes upYou have more chance reading tomorrow that Trevor Nisbett has announced that he intends to step down at the end of the 2023 seseason.
Not a huge fan of Tsatas (prefer Mackenzie for instance) but I concur with your opinion, in the very unlikely outcome that he is available at pick 9 we have to take him.Interested why not Tsatas? If there is one thing the Eagles lack is a high possession player (now that Gaff has slowed down) and someone who can run and carry.
Touted as a top 5 pick.
I watched the champs final and although bagged a bit here, I thought he swung the game in the 3rd quarter. Got 30 odd possessions and 5 clearances .
If he slid to 9 I would thank our lucky stars
I like Mackenzie too. Would be happy with either but think both will be gone. Not a huge fan of Tsatas (prefer Mackenzie for instance) but I concur with your opinion, in the very unlikely outcome that he is available at pick 9 we have to take him.
I'm going on what WCE_phil said about him. Questions on whether he can win his own ball and his kicking is not accurate at pace. Picking the next Jared Polec at pick 9 would be an absolute disaster.Interested why not Tsatas? Behind Ashcroft probably the biggest possession winner. Can play inside a bit. If junior form was that important Jacob Coniglio, James Embley, Tom Swift would all me premium AFL footballers.I'm going on what WCE_phil said about him. He was referring to TsatasIf junior form was that important Jacob Coniglio, James Embley, Tom Swift would all me premium AFL footballers.
Almost nothing about Ginbey reminds me of Polec. Apart from the obvious physical and athletic differences Polec was allergic to physical contact and mentally soft, his hands were garbage and he wasn't that good overhead.

Wow - just come back from 2 weeks in the UK and have lightly read items while away. Some observations
1. There is no news. The Melbourne media is making up their normal crap based on nothing. The recruitment teams realise that the last 2 years has meant that clubs will have very different looking first rounds and are holding their cards really close to their chests. Leaks to Cal, Fox and HUN reporters are not happening. This will likely be the most diverging top 30 for some time. Great.
2. The Pieman continues to give nothing away. I love it. No need to share tactics. The fact that most reporters think we will only take WA makes me think that we have other prospects planned.
3. Way too many WCE posters are not understanding why we traded down. Alternatively they are still pissed and cannot get over it. They still can not understanding that the 2 best options in this year are very talented but immature prospects. Neither are leaders and are about as inspiring number 1 picks as Ainsworth was for the Lions. Talent is good but not excellent. Once it was clear GWS wanted 1, we did the right thing and maxed out by splitting.
4. So many fruitless “I want X and Y at 8 and 12”. I am relaxed. We have 2 goes in the sweet spot. The club know we are under strength in the midfield so I expect 2 of the first 3 picks will continue the rectification plans. I am more interested in the pairing of mids.
So I will be glad to remain relatively quiet and sit out the next 3 weeks where it will be more of the same.
It still feels like there is a chance Nth take Wardlaw and Tsatas (rather than Sheezel) as it is a good balance of inside and outside. But that's likely a worse case scenario.
I see a lot of Jackson Macrae in him (who I once saw play a game in the TAC Cup in 2012 in Oakleigh where he basically put every ball by foot out of bounds or directly to the opposition) and could see him evolve more into that quality of player or even a McCluggage/Treloar level.
That's not to say there's not players I prefer, but if he's there at pick 9 and Mackenzie, Phillipou and Humphrey are already off the board then it'd be hard for us to pass over him.
Having said that I think this is a very theoretical discussion as Tsatas is almost certain to be gone before pick 9.
If that's the order I would be happy. It still feels like there is a chance Nth take Wardlaw and Tsatas (rather than Sheezel) as it is a good balance of inside and outside.
Assuming then Bombers take Sheezel, GC Ginbey. Clark to hawks maybe Busslinger to cats.
This would be the best result for us. Plenty of options available.

You would think the Saints take MacKenzie if he is available. If that's the order I would be happy.
Take McKenzie and hope the saints, blues and dogs dont want Hewitt.
