What evidence do we have that Stephen King would be any good as the head coach of an AFL team?

We don't. If we go for Hinkley how do we know he wouldn't turn out like Denis Pagan or Malthouse at Carlton? If we go with a young coach how do we know whether or not he'll be Brendon Bolton or Mark Neeld? Won't know until we get someone.

Ken can build a list and develop a team, just can't win finals.

I'd back him in if it were a Paul Roos/John Longmire type situation where Shuey is ready to take over once the team is finals bound.
