Are you thinking 'karma' for getting rid of (the great) Grundy ?Perhaps it's fate rather than bad luck.
I don't think we're close to the tipping point. It's the mids and flankers who we need to remain fit.
If Cox doesn't get up, I'd play Frampton in the ruck and bring in Ruscoe.
It had crossed my mind. Reaching into the spare parts bin and pulling out a Grundy would be more than handy at this point in time. Ironically, he is Melbourne's last ruck standing. Are you thinking 'karma' for getting rid of (the great) Grundy ?
There is also Frampton.
One option is Kelly to FB and Frampton to the ruck. Kelly should be able to handle Hipworth and Frampton just needs to compete.
Just a left field thought.
Yes but the other important stat missing is who they were up against in ruck. That may make a difference.Interesting ruck stats from the Richmond game:
McStay competed 28 times for 4 Hitouts. 14%
Johnson competed 12 times for 3 Hitouts. 25%
I could argue that they just brought in McStay to fix our forward line. No way they move him.Frampton is still just learning to be our key back, so there’s no way I’d move him.
Most likely would be McStay into ruck and McInnis plays forward.
He'd probably be injured too if he was on our list interested to see how he goes as the solo ruck for Dee's. Their fans weren't so impressed with him last weekIt had crossed my mind. And I could argue that our forward depth is greater than our key defence depth, which is already on the edge with Howe out of action, and facing a team that is running with 2 200cm key forwards and Gunston, with McInerney capable of floating forward and kicking goals too.I could argue that they just brought in McStay to fix our forward line. These are desperate times. Whichever way they go it will probably end up being a ‘no way they do that’ option. The good options are very thin on the ground.
He didn't do much - I watched the game. He'd probably be injured too if he was on our list interested to see how he goes as the solo ruck for Dee's. Their fans weren't so impressed with him last week
There hasn't been any mention of Cameron's actual role in our win. We have been too focused on how to cover his loss to consider how he fared against Nankervis.Nank was giving Cameron a bit of a lesson anyway.
Perhaps they left Frampton where he was because they did not have Kelly in the side to replace him. What they did during the game was a point in time decision. Now they have time and a broader range of players to choose from they may go another way.And I could argue that our forward depth is greater than our key defence depth, which is already on the edge with Howe out of action, and facing a team that is running with 2 200cm key forwards and Gunston, with McInerney capable of floating forward and kicking goals too.
Given they made the decision to utilise McStay in the ruck rather than Frampton last night, it’s a pretty safe bet to assume that’s the way they’ll go if they overlook Steene on Thursday. Much better structurally to go in with an undersized forward line that’s still full of dangerous ground level options rather than gamble on an undersized defence holding out one of the taller forward lines in the comp.
Wouldn't you think that Kelly would still be playing KPD if the selectors thought he was genuinely any good in the role? He looks far happier playing on the wing against blokes of lesser stature. Both the KPDs named for our side tonight are VFL players.Perhaps they left Frampton where he was because they did not have Kelly in the side to replace him. Kelly, the player who they’ve been playing on the wing all preseason because he’s undersized and not strong enough aerially to play a key defensive role?Perhaps they left Frampton where he was because they did not have Kelly in the side to replace him. Even got coaches votes in last weeks VFL game playing there believe it or not. Will Kelly has been playing wing? Wow
Doors ajar for Ginni now with another poor game from WHE and a so-so game from Hill. But he’s going to need to perform well in the VFL to come straight in next week.

Tad harsh on Hill, he adds so much to the forward line and our entries into the 50. Can’t see him getting dropped any time soon. But WHE should start getting worried haha

Don’t discount Cox playing just yet. A hematoma is anywhere from a 1-4 week injury. By Thursday it will be just under 2 weeks since the injury was sustained, so it’s too early to completely rule him out yet. So depending on his fitness:
Out: Cameron, WHE
In: Cox/Steene, Ginnivan
I agree, but the coaches obviously saw things differentlyDon't know how. There was at least 6 Collingwood players better then him.
