Pickett and Bolton are both perfect for Freo, some half forward class with Bolton also drafting into the middle.

Of the 658 players to play AFL this year, the breakdown per position was:

Of the 40 WCE players to play this year, this is our breakdown:
View attachment 2093188

Rank By Position
Below is how our players ranked amongst every AFL player in their position:

Key Defender (79 players): Gov (2nd), Barrass (5th), H.Edwards (47th), Jamieson (69th), Bazzo (72nd).

Med Defender (130 players): Duggan (45th), Witherden (57th), Cole(69th), Hough(100th), Johnston(119th), Rotham(125th).

Ruck (39 players): B.Williams (25th), Flynn (30th), Barnett (39th).

Mid (162 players): Yeo (23rd), Kelly (26th), Reid (54th), Hunt (76th), Ginbey (79th), Trew(125th), Chesser (134th), Gaff (136th), Sheed(150th), Hall (151st).

Mid/Forward (41 players): Maric (29th), L.Edwards (36th), Culley (38th).

Med Forward (125 players): Cripps (19th), Ryan (24th), Petruccelle (73rd), Brockman (84th), Dewar (89th), Long (103rd), Jones (108th), Rawlinson (124th).

Key Forward (82 players): Waterman (6th), J.Williams (37th), Darling (42nd), Allen (43rd), Hutchinson (60th).

Mids and Med Def are screaming out for some love, which would be greatly assisted with the arrival of Draper and Travaglia in the draft.

Both Baker & Graham, who we are heavily linked to, are viewed as Mid/Forwards. Baker is rated as the 2nd best Mid/Fwd & Graham is ranked 12th best. They would certainly assist our depth.

My next post I will go over players by their age.

23 - 25 is very bare.

Hate the chat of giving up F1 for Kozi, but would give up Barass compo for him (well the first rounder that we get). He's only 23.

Kozi buzzing around the F50 with Waterman and Allen as targets. Keep Ryan.

That's out forward line set up for ~7-8 years.

Just need midfielders to get it to them.

Makes Baker redundant as well which is good as don't need him / need to give up capital for him.

Kozi moving into the middle for 5 minute spells while Reid rests forward would also be delicious.
Imagine this as a fowardline...then we have this cruddy midfield that cant win a stoppage/clearance so the forwards rarely see the ball.

Sumich’s list management strategy is a worry. Trade Barass for a late second round pick and DGB…. Yikes

Believes North has offered Darling two years and north want us to pay $200,000-300-000 of his salary but we won’t budge on $100,000

Sent from my iPhone using BigFooty.com
Well that would indicate they might send something of value back our way, otherwise why would we pay any of his salary at all

Yay!! He had Viney, Petracca and Oliver bombing it in all day every day. How is he going to do that at West Coast? We need 20-30 disposal ball movers as a priority.
And we will get them (midfielders) with our 1st this year next year and in 2026….. How many do you want? The midfield won’t be fixed in one year but the top of the draft is a great place to get them and over a few years it should get addressed.

If we can also improve other areas of the list such as some serious talent in the fwd like that the likes of Pickett would bring, why shouldn’t we, as long as it doesn’t hinder the midfield build which it shouldn’t.

Fits the age, talented and fits a need that we badly lack. ✅

So Baker has said publicly hat he wants to make suitably compensated.

Pickett and Bolton to Freo makes huge sense so Baker looks they might drop out.

I would offer them our F2 a get a deal to Tigers that generates band 3

Options
1) F2 + a generated FA pick after Tigers current 21 so assume it is 22

or

2) Late teens + and a generated FA compo after end R2 so assume it is 40

The prospects in this year's draft at the 17 to 23 are pretty even. From Tigers perspective, I would agree to F2 and band 3.

Sumich is an idiot (in regards to the Barrass stuff).

Thanks for the breakdown.

Its a real guns & rookies approach.

Its very apparent there is very little established talent in the 22-29 age bracket.
i've struck out guys that will either a certainty to be delisted, tradedd, retired or just plain past it.

of the players 24-29:
  • Allen, waterman & Ryan are established players that i consider to be A-grade (in comparison to the players on our list)
  • B.Williams, H.edwards, Cole, duggan & hunt are B-graders
  • Petch and jaimeson are failures (sorry)
  • Cant really assess flynn.

Of the players 19 - 23
  • Reid, Ginbey, dewar, maric, longy, Jwilliams, Hough & hutchison have shown legitimate qualities to say they will make it AFL players (time will tell what capacity)
  • Chesser, culley & brockman have shown in spurts they have the some sort of skill that may translate into being an AFL player . chesser has played a few AFL games now..but is it out of position?
  • Trew, Barnett....i think the dye has already been cast for one...and the other is so far from it, he probably needs to be delisted & re-rookied as a project player.
  • i left the remaining 19yo's as is as you dont really expect anything from late pick first year players.

So....do Freo not have a salary cap or something? How are they expecting to add Bolton, Warner, MAYBE Pickett, I still think he stays no matter which WA club he chose, to add with the contracts of Brayshaw, Serong, Jackson, Darcy, Luke Ryan, whatever the captain's being paid and whatever's left of Fyfe and Walters money
Easy, they deli#t both Fyfe and Walters 😁
