That's what I'm saying. I don't want Baker. Hopefully Freo offers a pick to Richmond they can't refuse. To
I think a lot will depend on what Baker's preference is. Although I think hed be good for us, with the quality of this draft, I'd not want to be going past a Whitlock or Alex Dodson due to giving up pick 13 - 18. If we are going to finish bottom 3 again, then I'd rather be drafting potential stars than getting a good solid player like Baker who, at this stage of our development, isn't worth more than a late first or 23 and a F2.
This could potentially rival the 2001 super draft so we need to do whatever is necessary to gain and retain as many picks as possible.

But but but what it Fremantle bid on Champion with pick 9?

What do we do then? :sadv1:
Laugh at their stupidity ... we certainly don't match because based on his U18 Champs, he isn't worth that as he's not in the top 30 in the latest draft rankings

Claremont colts dominant in WA, Sandringham dominant in Victoria.

What is the equivalent toffs club in the SANFL? Do their juniors dominate the U18 competition?

Must be something to do with the footy programs in place at the PSA and APS schools. Significant opportunities for these privileged kids with ex AFL players/coaches in footy roles at these schools.
Probably out of Norwood or Sturt if you had to select an area.

Centrals down the bottom, and South’s probably just above them. (Both the furthest distance away from the CBD).

WWT Eagles probably the best run colts program over the last 10 years but pretty even in the SANFL colts. South just had a decent patch, (JHF and Sid) Centrals now going through a decent patch now. 2 likely top 3 picks in 2025/26.

I really don’t know too much about the PSA in SA but don’t think it’s on the same level as WA and Vic. Henley High is a ‘public school’ but offer next level sports academy. Recent Alumni include Philipou, Rankine and Lukosius

If we gave up 23 and a f2 the list management team need to hand in their resignation

I come in peace also,

I’m trying to understand why Richmond would do this deal? Hawks F1 will probably be 14-18 next year plus pick 3 for 6, 9 & Baker???

That’s a lot to give up for a 3 pick upgrade in an even draft.
Plz for the love of god just keep Baker. This rhetoric that a roleplayer is worth anything close to a first round pick is mind boggling.

Since Ralphy mention that pick 3 might be used to slide back with Richmond in the Baker trade some supporters have run with it as Richmond are desperate or at least very keen to get 2 of the top 3 picks, Maybe pair FOS and Jagga.

In that trade I would also say majority would also see F1 (14-18) to be a lot for Baker. Which is also hard to argue if Bailey Smith is only worth pick 15.

Picks 23 & F2 is way over the top for baker. We would be handing Richmond a fast rebuild, we need to hold all our picks for the draft, the only way we would look at baker is for our last pick.
Please WCE don't be stupid enough to give up any early picks for any Richmond players.

PAC produces a lot of AFL talent from tye priv schools but they also give out a ton of scholarships

I understand what you’re saying. But 6 + 9 in an even draft to get an upgrade to 3 would be a shocking call. Club should fold if that happens.

historically it was scared heart in the 90s, then St Peter’s had a bit of a run on in the 00s. For the past 5-10 years PAC decided they’d go down the route of just packing its first 18 with scholarships so they’re currently pumping out most recruits.

Seriously. I swear to God I slipped into a different timeline where Liam Baker was prime Dusty or something...what the hell's going on?

I'm hoping he chooses Freo.

We should make the call to Crossley even if its rookie spot.

I made that statement on the assumption that 23 will blow out by at least 4-5 picks, possibly to 30 or more after FS, Academy and FA compensation picks. Even GC 1st round pick 20 will end up at least mid-20s

Yes. But giving the Hawks F1 (14-18) is the sweetner for tigers giving 6 9 for 3.

We got 8 12 for pick 2.

No way we would get 6 9 for 3 as a one off trade.

The sweetener would be the upgrade from what most suspect is bakers worth (23), which we would then keep, at the cost of the Hawks F1. In other words we down graded pick 14 to 23 to upgrade to 6 9

PAC have been doing it for much longer than that. I left school over a decade ago but that year was the first time in like a decade Saints beat PAC in an intercol. I left Adelaide a decade ago and have lost contact as well as not been paying attention to whats going on there but I’ve noticed there’s been a sudden rise of kids being drafted from Saints too. So possibly they’ve ramped up their scholarship too

Yeah, Rostrevor, SH, St Peter’s are all decent programs. All of their Ammo’s Old collegian/Scholars team have come along way too. Points system helps that now.

Well that would certainly help with there being too many VIC clubs, but not sure the VAFL headquarters had Richmond on the hit list.

C’est la vie, we accept your offer of 3 for 6 + 9 + Richmond to fold.

Barras F2 for 13 F1

Hawks F1 and 3 for 6 9 and baker.

Darling for 58.

6 9 13 23 58 59

6 Lalor/Smillie/landford. One will slide.
9 trevaglia
13 Lindsay/allen
23 Tauru/Whitlock
58/59 champion bid or a slider and champion

Draft 5 kids
Graham and baker.

this assumes remarkable generosity by GC in giving up pick 6, which is way overs, for Rioli. If you look at his stats they aren't flash. He is average/below average in many of the key stats, particularly those relating to contested ball. GC should be offering their pick 20 for Rioli, and certainly no more than pick 12.

Yeah he's looked okay. I wouldn't even say good.

In a team that has mostly been competing for flags he has averaged:

18 touches (@ about 60%)
7 contested
1 clearance
Less the half a goal a game
Over 3 clangers a game
Less then 300 metres gained
Bit over 2 tackles a game
And less then 3 inside 50s a game

For the life of me I can't understand why even pick 23 is being linked for this guy. He is an undersized role player if I've ever seen one and who could very well be a lot worse in the wings.

Someone help me out here. Why TF would we give up any precious draft capital for Liam Baker. It boggles the mind.
I'd probably rate Baker around the value of Duggan.

Duggan is a passionate leader and can be very good at times, but he can also butcher the ball. I wouldn't say Duggan is worth a first round pick, and neither is Baker.

You're right, I just forgot how old I actually am.

late 00's I'd say would be when the scholarship onslaught begun at PAC.

Find it interesting that if a player wants out and nominates a team - what happens if that team then realises they’re going to be more expensive than they expected. i
Imagine paying up more than you wanted because you felt obligated to take the player who nominated you. Obviously this is a day in the life of a GCS recruiter. But how often have teams reneged on negotiations even after the player publicly informs their team that they want to be traded to team X?
