We are crying out for pace and here we have a West Aussie that is quick and agile, on a golden platter served up to us that has proven he can perform at the top level (albeit inconsistently and with foot skills that aren't exactly elite).

Schooled at Brighton Grammar School , junior footy was played with Hampton Rovers.

So grew up in one of Melbournes, wealthy leafy suburbs, in the much sought after Bay Area.

Reason being if you move here at 27 as a Victorian you are wanting to get the most out of your career and are putting football first..if you are a 27 year old west Australian moving back it's because you want your mum to do your ironing and are wanting to be a mummy's boy . Basically you want a easier life. Not the mentality of a good recruit

I'd just have him as worthy of a pick upgrade for port in the Willie trade

Pass on that.

I like the player and would prefer him to Hunt........ BUT......... we would be dealing with Port.

So the Bonner for Rioli straight swap conversation would be coming out of Ports mouth, so that's the knock on the suggestion.

Remember Port wear prison bars, for a reason.


Now if it was the Amon compensation pick and Bonner for Junior ......now you have my attention.

One thing that Hunt has over Witherden is speed......and it's not even close.

So yes a definite upgrade.

Speed is what we need. Watch our tackling and pressure go up once we have some quicker players.

Don't reckon we're any chance at landing Bowes, he's a Victorian so you would expect he'll prefer one of the suiters from Victoria.

I thought he was part of their academy ?

Hunt would be handy, get him for free as a free agent.
Having pace coming off the backline with JJ will hopefully break the lines to get the ball into our forward line quicker and catch opposition defenders off guard.
He’s rarely injured and played 20 games a season over the last 2 in one of the best teams in the comp. Don’t think he’ll have trouble getting a regular game for us.
He is free no draft picks lost.

But still, don't understand the opposition. Addresses an area of need and will come cheap with no draft picks required.

Only query I had was age wise, 28 next season, not sure that's the demographic we should be focused on

SUNS' EARLY PICK UP FOR GRABS​

GOLD Coast is set to dangle pick No.7 as the draft sweetener for clubs vying to take on Jack Bowes and the two remaining years on his contract.

Bowes is signed through to the end of 2024 on a heavily back-ended deal, with the former top-10 pick and Suns Academy product open to a move to a new club.

The Suns are also embarking on a proactive reset of their salary cap position and will use their strong draft hand to entice rivals to take on players.

It means clubs such as Hawthorn, St Kilda, Geelong and Essendon, who have all shown interest in Bowes, would also be in line to land the extra draft capital as part of the deal to take the versatile Sun's contract off their books.





Piss Gaff off, free up cap space, get Bowes + a free pick = Suns Fold.

Our hat should be in the ring. If we want to hit this rebuild hard we should be chasing picks. Especially when it's at the expense of only cap space. Even if we have to ditch Witherden and promote a rookie on a lower wage.

I just hope Trev doesn't think Bowes is a B grader.

Give Bowes a one year extension and back load his contract so we can pay him when our big contracts finish.
Reckon we would struggle to move Gaff unless we were to pay a chunk of his salary.
Gaff should bounce back this year he was clearly injured this season. Not that it helps our rebuild.

WCE give: Pick 2, 26 (I’d love to just offer 38 but I feel like other clubs will also be throwing offers at GC so will need to higher pick to get it across the line)

WCE Get: 5,7, Bowes + His Salary

Leaves us with 5, 7, 20, possibly ammon compo for Rioli & 38. Not far away from 5 in the first 30.
