Just came here to post pretty much the same thing.

Would you be happy with this?

WCE give: Pick 2, 26 (I’d love to just offer 38 but I feel like other clubs will also be throwing offers at GC so will need to higher pick to get it across the line)

WCE Get: 5,7, Bowes + His Salary

Leaves us with 5, 7, 20, possibly ammon compo for Rioli & 38. Not far away from 5 in the first 30.

Thoughts?

GC want picks in next years draft. You're buying the pick with the salary and potentially a second round pick next year. No need to include GC for pick 2.

Maybe we ask for a future second from port for Rioli & then on trade that or our own to Gold Coast for Bowes, pick 7 + his salary.

Not really fussed losing Rioli if we could turn his loss into this.

2,7,20,26,38 is a nice hand.

I rate Bowes so I’m keen to see him in a Blue & Gold

Not a big fan of Hunt so I expect ill see Jayden as an Eagle 2023 🤷🏽‍♂️

On splitting our pick 2:
1. Pick 2 will obviously become Pick 3 on the night due to Brisbane matching the Ashcroft bid.
2. The only team with realistic picks to swap would be Sydney's pick 14 and 17 - which would become 16 and 19 if Davey is also bid/matched.
3. With pick 16 and 19 we've almost certainly missed out on the only mouth-watering options (Busslinger/Hewett/Clark/Phillipou).

Don't bother trading pick 2(3) unless we get an absolute sweet heart deal like North's 2023 1st rounder, or something like pick 7 and 25 from GC which would secure at least one A-grade talent from this draft.

Thoughts?

Sound logic of this quality has no place on BF

Pet peeve, but it really irritates me when people do this.
Ashcroft is not in the draft pool, therefore pick 2 remains pick 2.

There is also the possibility that Norf don't bid on Ashcroft just like they didn't bid on Daicos last year.

Now if you're talking about pick 38 becoming pick 34 because Brisbane and Essendon throw multiple 2nd round picks to match bids, great. That's accurate, because burning multiple picks to match bids instead of drafting players means we're accessing the draft talent pool earlier than otherwise with the late pick.

I don't mind Jayden Hunt, but I thought that he was a bit younger than 27 (28 in April).

I agree if we do spilt our pick we must retain a top ten pick

Strong disagree.

Ashcroft is part of the 2022 draft pool.
Pick 2 typically represents the right to draft the SECOND best player in the pool.
Our pick 2 will turn into the right to draft the THIRD best player in the pool after Brisbane matches the Ashcroft bid.

Well of course you disagree, it goes without saying. I just said my perspective is the opposite of yours.

I seriously don't get Gold Coast. For all the crap Collingwood copped with Treloar, this is like no different.

With Bowes, his injuries have really stuffed him in the last couple of years but before that he was spoken of as captain material. Has a bit of mongrel about him as well which I love.

They have talent coming through they have to pay a premium to retain. They need to cut those that aren’t contributing and/or they don’t value as much as a result.

I hope we seriously investigate taking him. He’s a decent player and if we get a pick as well then all good.

West coast should look at getting Toby Bedford. Originally from halls creek.

I bet we aren’t even looking to capitalise on Gold Coasts salary cap issues which is disappointing. We should be all over that pick 7
How much are you willing to bet?
And how would we know? I can see the WC backroom now-
Hey pieman GC are giving away players.
Pieman - lalalalala, don't care I'm not even gonna think about it.

If we're not all over Gold Coast's pick 7 with a bottle of VSOP, season passes to Adventure World and a line something like " let's shove it up these VIC BASTARDS" with a coaxing gutteral laugh then we're just not trying.

In all srsnsess we need to be all over this - we're in the prime seat, we wouldn't be seen as potential contenders for a finals spot next season.
I'm already pissed off at the thought we didn't make it happen...
