Bowes atleast comes with pick 7 so that would make it worth taking on the higher salary.

Jackson however will come with an even higher salary and likely we will be expected to pay overs to Melbourne to beat Freo to him. Whilst i dont mind Jackson I don't see us getting him for a fair price so for mine Jackson is an avoid, I hope Freo get him and good luck to them.
Same, hope freo get him but don't wish them(freo) any luck.

Fair call on saving for a FA raid,
plenty on here talking of going for English, McDonald etc...

We aren't signing a FA this year.

English is OOC in 2024, McDonald OOC 2024 and not a FA.

Who is this mystery FA we need cash for over the next 2 years? Anyone?

I'd rather make things actually happen, get and use pick 7 and spend two years developing a pick 7 instead waiting for something to 'hopefully' happen in 2 years' time.

And at the end of 2024 Gaff, Darling, Yeo and McGovern's current contracts are all finished. I'd suggest there is plenty of spare cap from those 4 monster contracts to attract a FA.

Don’t reckon the players would discuss contracts.
The players are smart enough to know that if he was to be on a reported 800k that it’s simply a back loaded contract and the Eagles are paying it to get pick 7. Move on

Maybe lighten up, it’s Sunday. Pretty evident my post was tongue in cheek

I would call it incompetence on our behalf , while simultaneously being shown up by the best drafting and trading Club in the AFL, they do seem to manage their TPP very well.

Really sucks to be us at the minute.

It’s pretty simple to understand… it’s called credits…. Whether by pay or getting games when you don’t deserve them you win a flag you play for life until you decide you can’t move anymore or you upset the apple cart.

Bowes appears to be between North and Geelong, with the Cats better placed due to what happened with Greenwood and the Kangaroos refusing to part with their future second rounder. Geelong ready to give up their future first if 7 and 25 are in the deal.

As for us, could we even afford Bowes? We had so little cap in 2022 that Vardy was forced into early retirement. Delisting Nelson and retiring Kennedy would not have shifted that much to allow 800k additions.
So we offer a future second (won’t be that far away from Geelong‘s future first) for 7 & Bowes. Still a better deal for GC

Well 12 months ago that pie landed at Freo and they gobbled it up and said thanks very much.

Now we have a Pie Man in charge of recruiting. Hopefully he's a bit pissed off and hungry this year and all we have for platters at Eagles HQ is health food and he thinks outside the box where his next pie is coming from.;):$

Shai Bolton OOC in 2023, I think we will make a very big play for him

I reckon all of this talk about us being in the hunt for Jackson is pie in the sky stuff.

Expect Jackson's management to come out next week and declare he wants to go to Freo.

I'm not fussed either way.
Know someone who works at Freo who suggested it’s been in the pipeline since before the 2021 GF, so yes I think it’s pieman in the sky stuff

Good.

Lets not waste any more time or energy discussing Jackson.

Move on to more pressing needs.
The ‘Jackson to WA, no particular club’ trope is in relation to the Kelly trade where the Victorian media jumped all over Kelly nominating WC.

I don’t think Jackson has any interest in coming to WC, which I am happy with, but he is being coached to say he hasn’t chosen to void Vic media frenzy.

Of course, there’s no issue with players going to Victoria nominating a club. Some things never change.

Sean Darcy surely
