now naish gone as well. How many spots do we now have on our list?

Hasn’t been updated for Naish but we currently have 32 players with a contract for next year which doesn’t include Hurn who is expected to sign on

WC fans: We're too old, we can't carry these blokes over 30 who won't be around for our next tilt!!

Also WC fans: No don't get rid of Redden. We wanted all the other oldies to leave but not Redden!

Wow who would have thought West Coast fans were comprised of multiple individuals with varying views.

In all srsnsess - I think of multiple other players (many younger) who we were carrying before Redden.

Our problem isn't an age problem, it's a willing to put effort problem.
(And probably an injury and conditioning problem.

“WCE were keen for Redden to go on”
“Most at the club were in shock, expectation was that he’d play one more year”

All these list cuts it's a good thing. I hope there's more coming. Basically if anything has come from season 2022 is that our depth players are not up too it. We need to turn that wheel and bring in players who can cover injuries while still able to perform or possible break into the best 22.

Shows they have no faith in our depth which is good list management with all these cuttings. I'd be concern if we didnt. We need better depth especially midfield depth and another ruck like how we got Cox, Sinclair or Hickey in the past from basically nothing. Most came from the PSD. Only way we can do that is turn the dead wood over and open up those list spots for new comers.

He’d hit his trigger so he was entitled to a new contract if he wanted it.

Not sure what the club could have said in “amicable and friendly conversations” to dissuade him from taking it up, other than telling him he’d be playing WAFL. Which he’d already said he’d be willing to do.

Ryan Daniels’ tweets said the club was surprised at his decision. That seems more likely to me than your suggestion that they were behind the whole thing.
I agree with this take - Redden is quite wealthy I believe and has quite a few interests outside of football.

He was rumoured to have been considering it midway through the season; the club and us just considered his signature a formality.

Let’s not forget though that Priddis was shafted out of a deal he had just signed. He reluctantly took one for the team, it’s not unfeasible to think to Jack Redden was shafted too

I was quite happy for Redden to play on but I think he knew, and said as much, that there was a likelihood he’d be playing WAFL so younger players had more opportunity

Based on last years output you could argue that Redden should still play in 2023 rather than Shuey.

I’m guessing that after enjoying some time off after the season ended he’s looked at what’s ahead and decided that he doesn’t have the motivation to go again. He’s also put what’s good for the club ahead of himself which is to be admired

Do you know something Ryan Daniels doesn’t? Because he said the opposite.

Who knows. But unless the player says they were pushed its a retirement.

Possible we discussed it with him and paid him a break fee on the trigger contract and parties shook hands and agreed he was retiring.

Stranger things have happened. Like Priddis retiring after signing a new 1 yr deal.

It might be too that Reddon knows this pre season will be one of the most brutal ones we've ever had especially after all the controversy around our list this year being unfit and fat. Maybe the club is getting the players ready and has it known to them what they are in for. Reddon might of just thought he didn't have it on him to commit to this pre season and called it a day before it starts. Probably a bit of everything went into his decision. Can't blame him really. It's not like the list right now is looking at a premiership window.

Agree with Keys, Shuey would be my preferred player out the door rather than Redden.

It changes the dynamic a bit with Redden opting to walk. I feel pretty good about it personally. Guarantees there's at least going to be a spot in the best 22 for a young player to step up to now.

Culley might keep his spot for example, rather than losing it and being demoted to WAFL the minute Sheed gets back.

So, Redden is surprisingly gone (possibly freeing up a spot for the Headband Bandit), Naish is unsurprisingly gone - who else is on the chopping block ?

Winder, Witherden, West.

Think they’re the only other players still out of contract? Edit: and Trew.

I’m surprised Winder has survived the first couple of rounds of delistings, I thought his cards were marked.

Pending loss of Rioli might have changed plans there, might be demoted to the rookie list maybe?

Reading between the lines think this means we aren't getting pick 1.

This sounds terrible but I really want Witho to go. I'm also not the biggest fan of West but I would like to see Winder go around again, this time in the right position.

I'd get anything I can for Foley.

Rotham is a weird one but I suppose I'm starting to lose hope...I can't help but feel he'd be a much better player with confidence.

I don’t know why anyone would be surprised at Naish being delisted.

He did give us something when the shit really hit the fan but at that stage it was all just kick and hope

Once players started to come back he never got a look in despite racking up good numbers in the WAFL

Witherden, West, Trew and Winder now left waiting to see how many chairs are left for them to fight over, if any

ie you can see why Richmond delisted him to begin with

Boy oh boy wowee. Brander gets pasted on here for being scared of contact. I'm not sure how Sharp will be received.
Well weve got culley, may draft warlord, if we split picks theres a good chance we get ginbey or another inside mid.
The speed of the game has gone past us so some outside run is needed
I also think his fear of contact is overplayed. Went ok in the games ive seen him play
