I am also coming round to the potential that Clark may be available at 8 for what it's worth. I originally thought Hawks would take him but now think they are going Mackenzie and still think Geelong will go Busslinger.

The only thing that ****s my top 9 order is if Essendon don't pick Tsatas.

Came here to find an Alec Waterman post. Wasn’t disappointed.

Sent from my iPhone using BigFooty.com

If his last name wasn't Waterman, there would be no interest in a slow, medium-sized lead-up forward who's just turned 26

We should trade Alec Waterman for a list spot and give Zac Langdon to what ever WAFL Alec was headed for

Send them both back to their home Club Claremont, thank you very much.

After the main draft do we get the chance to pick up Fredricks or Narkle ?

Both have a bit of pace and can play up forward surely an upgrade on Langdon & Petrol dosent seem to get on the park enough.

At worse it makes the Beagles more competitive

Sydney Stack is a pass for me

They are all delisted free agents.

They can bypass the draft and sign with whoever they want

Essendon would be much better picking Humphrey or Clark

Tsatas would be another non combative mid that doesn't tackle to add to their list.

Phillipou is rated around the 8- 15 mark on most Clubs boards.

All this “dissing on him” is starting to give me the shits.
Sure he isn’t top 2, but he is very much in top ten contention.

For what it’s worth I don’t think he willl be like Bont …. For me if it all clicks, for him… then more like Fyfe … if he gets to be 80 % of where I think he can be then P Cripps not as good at contested possession but will kick a heap more goals.
One from the past I see him playing ( once he stops growing and matures at 24 / 25 ish. )….. then like Jobe Watson.

Please note player referenced above are : PLAYS LIKE not AS GOOD AS.
If the good as, did eventuate then , it’s beers 🍻 all round.
Phillipou is a difficult prospect to rate, which explains the range of placings on him. While he looks awkward in his lumbering movement and kicking, he somehow brings it all together which lends to an odd incoherence in his visible traits and end product/impact. Will he retain this end product in the quicker and more ferocious AFL midfield, where there is less time on the ball and less of a body size asymmetry to exploit? Can his endurance mitigate his lack of speed to effectively spread (and to defend against opposition spread) from contests. If he doesn't make it as a midfielder, will he be best 22 in the forward line?

In my experiences watching Phillipou, I want to see a genuine big-bodied mid-forward hybrid in Bont, Fyfe or even Cripps, but I can't help but be reminded of (an albeit more effective) Matthew Allen or Brandt College (undersized forwards with a decent tanks clumsily transitioning to big-bodied inside mids). Jobe Watson is a more apt comparison, but how effective is this style of midfielder in the modern game? We also have Culley developing, who has similar attributes and limitations in his game.

Despite my concerns, since Phillipou has very clean hands, is strong overhead, and consistently hits the scoreboard, I think he is worth the risk on the condition that we take a more secure midfielder with the other first rounder (i.e. MacKenzie or Hewett). But if we take BPA Busslinger at 8 (which is my preferred outcome), do we go a safer mid at 12? This is the luxury of having 2 picks in this range.

I admittedly don't watch the juniors closely as others (relying on broadcasted U18 state games and highlights of local games), so I privilege the opinion of the seasoned draft watchers on this board, such as yourself, who all seem to be comfortable with him as an AFL mid. Could you assuage my likely superficial concern that he presents as more of a clumsy forward-not-quite-midfielder in the mold of M.Allen (I can imagine your indignance at this comparison) as opposed to one of the few successful hybrids?

All three are far better than our depth players, I would not be surprised if we look at either Fredricks or Narkle

This is the one permutation where our slide from pick 2 to 8 + 12 backfires.

Pick 8 (9 inc. Ashcroft) shapes as a transitional pick in this draft where the high-end talent becomes more speculative (i.e. Phillipou), or conversely, the sure prospects have a lower ceiling (i.e. Clark), or whatever Ginbey is supposed to be (worst of both world in my opinion as he is speculative with poor skills and decision making, low production but a freak athlete riding a hype train not backed up by performance on the field).

Perhaps the club takes comfort that the contigency is a mix in Philipou/Ginbey at 8 and Hewett/Hotton/Hollands at 12, which I would begrungily accept (so long as we don't take Ginbey). But if this eventuates, the downgrade should be critiqued.

How so? In what aspects is the program behind the times?

My son was watching something from 2020 and Nic was standing in this chamber wearing a breathing mask with a clear door. When it opened all this cold mist was released andNic was there no shirt, face mask looking like Darth freakin Vader.

Thought wtf is going on there. Never seen anything like it.

Enhancing sexual powers =/= top notch S&C programming

Hewett is a top 10 talent who has had some issues this year. Mind you if he was playing WAFL colts all season he would have been absolutely dominant.

Didn't interview great at the combine and is definitely down on fitness/application this year imo. He gets marked down by a lot because of his dominance last year yet it didn't seem to translate to the higher level as much as expected.

There are also rumours of outside issues however I have no proof of this and he interviewed well. Did give body impressions and slight reads about wanting to stay in WA when I was in the interview. It's why I think he potentially drops. I don't think GWS draft him and think one of Sydney's picks is locked in for Hustwaite so he could genuinely get past the first round. Sydney really have no fear of player retention mind you. If Sydney take someone other than Hustwaite with their first I think he's safe for our 3rd pick.

Also will say it again but don't rate Ginbey. That athletic profile combined with low production says to me low footy IQ and it's hard to build. He could be a tagger and defensive mid in the middle for a few years and build it, like yeo but it's a big question mark on him for me. Otherwise i'd be happy with him. He's not in my 5 picks for either 8 or 12.

If Busslinger gets past Geelong and Mackenzie is Taken I would go Busslinger, Philippou and then Hewett at 20.
If we landed Busslinger, Pou and Hewett with the first 3 you would be ecstatic, would be a huge haul.

Hewett last year was exceptionally fit, his biggest strength was his running. From memory had the best Yoyo result from the colts as an underager - seems like he lost that this year!

Did some searching to find the combine results for some of our preferred players

I really think we are pulling a jack darling with Hewett. He seems to be sliding more and more .

Didn't test well , playing in the league out of position, go home factor and bad behaviour rumours.

Pick 20 here we come
