Langdon reminds me of the dwarf from Bad Santa

Naish tried to use the corridor and attack the game. Naughty boy. Simmo couldn’t coach the attacking intent out of him so he has to go

He tried and failed the composure test. Some really ugly turnovers and panics too much.

He had some courage to try and has a bit of pace but giving the ball back to the opposition on the rebound isnt a good AFL trait to have.

Problem for me with OA is that it's a big call to expect him to be the the No. 1 target down forward after he just missed an entire year of development and before that was thrown around the ground so much. He just hasn't had enough chance to develop his forward craft to expect him to hit the ground running in that role. I don't expect him to do too much in the first half of the season.
He’s had good forward craft from day dot, it’s pretty natural for him. A year in the gym while off his feet and JD next to him taking some heat off I reckon he’ll be right.

I'm not saying he won't be, I'm just saying I wouldn't expect him to come out kicking bags of goals in the early rounds, it's going to take him time to get up to speed

JD is the number 1 target next year. Time for him to take FF and have OA up around the ground as CHF

Should rotate him with Ryan at FF - try and get those 2 to build a partnership and a bit of…dare I say…synergy.

We need Liam Ryan back at his 2020 best.

If we only have OA and JD as our targets I think OA will get battered from pillar to post.He is such a courageous player he tends to pay the price for it.Our forward and midfield coaches haven’t got it in them to come up with a plan to A.kick short or B.grubber the ball forward.WC home of the BOMB it forward;don’t ever think that coz our key forwards are way above average below their knees that we should utilise that advantage.
Gov forward? I like it.
Have bailey Williams play FF out of the goal square and JD /Oscar leading up to the wings .

Need to start utilising BW more as a forward even if its a decoy and less on the bench when he is not rucking

Darling will be the number 1 target though. He's shown when Kennedy is out he is more than capable of this, and we don't need to protect his body like Allen's, because (i) he is getting on and (ii) he seems indestructible anyhow

Times have changed a little bit since 2012.

Not that i don't think Darling is still capable, I just don't think we click our fingers and he bags 50+ goals like last time he was the focal point in attack without JK.

Like Simpson generally says after most losses though, all comes down to supply from our midfield.

In other words we should've kept pick 2 and guarantee us taking the best available.mid.

totally defeats the purpose of sliding down the draft (fear of go home factor, let's target local talent) if any of that WA talent is taken b4 our first pick.

What? That makes no s3nse at all.

So you would have kept pick 2 and used it on Ginbey, Busslinger or Hewett? Both a massive reach with pick 2.

There will be a very good mid at pick 9. And another good option at 13.

One of Phillapou, Ginbey, Clark, McKenzie or Hewett will be there at 9.

Pick 13 is bang on where a fair few have Hewett and Busslinger. If gone I'd be looking at Hotton or Hustwaite.

Why? Is Darling too short now?

He shrunk from 2012 or something?

Waterman should be leading from the goal square.

Feel all three will just rotate from FF TBH. Keep theoppo defense guessing.

good WAFL prospect - some are in denial

Do you have some sort of an alert set up so that whenever someone mentions Waterman you can immediately respond to say he’s no good?

Like this approach, but would prefer we don’t use our first rounders on talls. Save this for our picks in the 20s or rookie draft.

I somewhat agree - with seemingly the only talls who warrant first round picks being Cadman (gone at #1... or at very least not making it to 8/9), Busslinger (not a position of need for us) and Jefferson (probably rated late 1st and where we sit would be a reach).

Busslinger is the only real option available to us. At 9 is he on our board... I don't know. At 13 if he were still there - I'd say we probably take him (we may still do so at 9).

Ideally someone like Keeler is available to us at 20 (or whatever that ends up at... probably 23 or so). But there are still some guys who had decent underage years as tall forwards who may well slip to the rookie draft. Plus rucks of course.

You're assuming we take mids with our first two picks. Or at least one plus The Bus. Wish I had as much confidence!

I wouldn't be totally opposed to The Bus so long as we knock it out of the park with a mid with the other pick.

Like the sort of mid usually taken at Pick 2/3 ... But with 9/13.

No..I would've kept pick 2 and taken wardlaw.

Yet from what we have heard he has indicated quite clearly he wants to stay in Melbourne and on top of that has had injury concerns.

So best case we draft him put 2-3 years of development into him and return him back to Victoria for a pick in the teens and a future first rounder( Jackson deal).
Worst case his hammies are custard and we spend pick 2 on someone that doesn’t want to be here and can’t get on the park.

Sounds great

Yeah considering we didn’t receive any players and you can still trade draft picks, I’m not sure we pulled the trigger at that stage to trade out pick 2. I think a deal would’ve been there closer to draft night and we would’ve got a better read on who was going where.

Playing Devils Advokent, if Jones and Jefferson are on the board at 21 (not that I think Jefferson lasts that long) you'd have to take Jefferson right?

I rate Jones, but there's something that feels very dumb about taking a small forward/mid over a fairly decent rated tall if there's one available.

Which one wins games, tall forwards or smalls?
