What a joy it's going to be watching the ball get delivered into that forward line 10 times a game only for it to immediately bounce out.

Good thing we stuck it to Port and lost our only quality, prime aged pressure forward for change.

Even a realistic lineup of:
  • Allen
  • Darling
  • Ryan
  • Cripps
  • Waterman
  • Williams
  • And a monthly cameo from Petch

Is going to function like a trampoline.
Settle tiger, there are 17 other teams to follow if not prepared to endure the tough times

He's in Melbourne

No i'm back home in the SW for the next few weeks before heading back. Once the rookie draft is done i'm done with it as well i think. I don't want to move into a permanent role, I don't want to live in Melbourne and even for the head recruiter it's a love not money job. I'm certain almost all of the senior recruiters who have been at clubs a few years could make very good player agents and earn much, much more money.

You're working with the Tigers I'm pretty sure.

Hazzard a guess at any of the below (we should make them pay dearly if they're that hungry)

St.Kilda - 9, 28 (Humphrey/Ginbey)
Carlton - 10, 29 (Busslinger)
Bulldogs - 11, 21 (Phillipou)

WCE 8, F4 (+token pick 70+)?
Could be mistaken but swear he mentioned working for Carlton a few weeks back. Few beers since then though so could’ve made that up

I hope it's the Saints and WCE_phil is forced into a close working relationship with Ross Lyon, which eventually blossoms (buds) into a friendship.

Geez, what’s Phil ever done to you?

Thats why Jones, Shuey and a mid / forward draftee with pace will address that weakness.

Petch is on his last chance. He needs to stay fit, kick goals and add pressure or his career is over.

One of Jones, Hotton or Burgeil would be be a step in the right direction.

good WAFL prospect - some are in denial

Will make that final call after he's been given a decent run in his preferred position and not moved all over the field.

He's been behind JK, Darling and Oscar waiting for a chance to play deep forward. We will know by the end of next season if he has something to offer long term.

Who would you play as the third tall forward next season?

But then isn't the inference that if we are prioritizing a defender over an onballer, that we require talls more so then we do midfielders?

This is entirely the problem: our recruiters/club seem to be lost as to to where we have long been deficient: the midfield

And not just in the midfielder, but in terms of contested ball, ground ball and tackling. All of which would be addressed if we prioritized the very type of player we keep ignoring over and over again with our initial picks: contested ball winning, big bodied midfielders that tackle and hit the scoreboard

Buslinger would be another failure to identify and address where we are breaking down. I am certainly not saying he cant play, but he just isn't the type of player that we most require

Not when we are building a list to seriously contend in 5 to 6 years.

If we were focusing on contending in 2 or 3 years sure foucs 100% on the midfield needs.

People need to understand when we are planning for this list to peak again. Mids can start peaking 3 years after getting drafted. Talls take longer.

Whilst I don't disagree with this, a team is built from the middle

You can have the worlds greatest backline that can look second rate if it's constantly under seige due to midfield entries

You can also have the world's greatest forward line that looks second rate due to lack of supply

It always begins in the midfield. And subsequently, we should be prioritising that first

I wasn’t comparing him you twit.I said he needs to develop JKs intensity. Anybody we play at FF needs to as he has set the bar.
Suggesting Bailey Williams could be a weapon at FF when he struggles as a second stringer ruck is delusional. You really are a nut case 😞

I get it I get it. But let's pick best available because we need a bit of everything and gov won't be around forever and we just lost JK and Rioli. Most of our picks will end up being mids anyway because that's mostly whats available so it's a mute argument.

I have been banging on about BW as a FF forever. It’s so logical but the club doesn’t seem interested.I read on BF somewhere that his old man was a well known country football FF in Victoria.People keep rabbiting on about his kicking for goals but that’s the least of his worries. He’s a good mark got nice candy tackles ok and if he can develop JKs intensity He’ll be a weapon!

Perhaps we should have drafted his old man then because his son has little to no idea what he is doing.

Ffs, how many more games do you want him to be gifted before you get he is no good? .. he has had 6 years. Only 1 of those years has he kicked more goals that he has actually played games. He cant play deep forward because he can’t take a contested mark to save himself.
