A slider at 12 that Sydney are keen on? Would we sell?

That slide could be many - eg Busslinger, Hayes, Jefferson, etc

If Allan, Hewett and Hollands still there, I'd explore it.

Sydney offer up 14 and 17 for 12 and 26! I stress that it would need all three being there at 12 meaning one would slide to 14 and then we go Hottons at 17.

I have a feeling Melbourne take Jefferson if still there at 13. Jefferson looks like such a Melbourne pick.

Possible draft
8 - Mackenzie
14 - Hewett/Allan/Hollands
17 - Hotton (or possibly one of Hewett/Allan/Hollands still there)
20 - Clarke or Konstanty

That would be tempting. Again, no deal now but a live draft scenario. It is only a slide back of 2 (from 12) and it brings us forward 9 (from 26). Not doing it for 20 instead of 26.

I still think we want/need to take a tall this draft. Whilst what you have listed is definitely best available, it is very mid-heavy and doesn't address our need for talls as well.

Ideal draft for me is 2 mids, 1 tall (ideally KFP or ruck), and 1 small forward (or defender if no small forwards are worthy of the pick we have).

Which kind of leads me to think we might be better off keeping 8/12/20/26 rather than trading 12 back and gaining 17. Unless Barnett isn't lasting until 20 then I think we will have the right mix of players at our picks.

As soon as we did the trade of 2 to 8 and 12, I was happy. Looking at the evenness, I believe we need to give O'Brien a full platter of part pies for that one.
It’s as if we got in ahead of any others thinking of doing the same. I honestly think it was tremendous work. Any other team trying to do it now doesn’t seem to be having a great deal of luck and it doesn’t appear like they’d get an equivalent haul of 8 and 12 either way

Foster late and Broadbent as a rookie

We need a contested ball winning beast with our first pick. Nic, Redden, Shuey and Yeo cant be relied on to do the job for us anymore, they’re either injured all the time or retired.

We’ve only got Culley who fits the bill for us going forward.

I don’t want a balanced mid or an outside mid with pick 8

Clark, Ginbey, Humphrey, Phillipou on top of the list thanks

Why? Tsatas at 8, Hewett or Hollands at 12 and Hottons or Burgiel at 20 would be a very good haul and give us 3 very different mids. Add to that Culley, Chesser and Hough.

I did not want Tsatas at 2 but getting Tsatas and a top balanced mid for effectively pick 2 feels OK. Sure, not my favourite combination but still a good haul.

Besides if he does slide to 8, there might be clubs chasing hard. Saints, Blues, Dogs and Dees would all benefit from him in the team.

Saints and Blues might be up for a jump ahead and offer up a future second for a minor slide back and a Port's future third. I would be reluctant to slide back more than a couple of spots if it was Tsatas as the target.
I'm basing it on Phil's description of a player who doesn't win his own ball and his bad disposal. I trust his judgement a lot more than mine.

I'm definitely doing this on the night, and I can see the appeal for Swans as I reckon the only real need on their list is a key forward. They have Logan McDonald but would want another one. So jumping ahead of Melbourne to grab Jefferson would be highly appealing to them I would think.

For us, moving back two spots with say Hewett, Allan and Hotton on the board is a no brainer. Obviously this is done as soon as the dogs have locked in their pick and Dees have no room to move.

I'm going to piss everyone off and call Hollands absolute vanilla with nothing standout in his game whatsoever, other than his work ethic.

Another Gaff. Do not want. And yes I've seen him play.

Clark and Ginbey to Cats

Clark or Ginbey to Cats.

How do they get both?

It’s “or” not “and”.

To be fair, the post he quoted said “and”

I took the meaning as being ‘or’ but I can understand why beanie would choose to clarify it

FFS - He said Cats linked with Clark and Ginbey. Doesn’t mean they can or will take both.

He said Gunston or Bock you dingbats.

I’d like to see us draft one of:
Phillipou
Humpreys
George (most possible of the 3)

All possibly develop into powerful mid forward types.

Hewett is a must for mine, I’d take him at 8. He will be a star.

J Ryan and Burgiel look good football types.

And for some reason I like Jaiden Magor from SA another mid/forward type.

Hewett. Hewett
Hollands. George
George. Ryan
Ryan. Burgiel

No talls for me, Curtin next year.

I would have thought a dual All-Australian, best and fairest winner and consistent player over a long period of time is what we want.

The disrespect Gaff gets around here after a down 2021-2022 while playing injured from people with short memories.

I still think we take Busslinger at 8 if he's there.

I also believe we need to take the best possible mid at either 8 or 12 depending on whether it is Busslinger we take. No one argues quality mids aren't our core shortage.

Be it Clark, Ginbey, Hollands, Tsatas, Phillipou, whoever. The best rated mid.

Apparently Crows are dangling their F1 for a shot at Phillipou for clubs holding picks in the range of 5-10. Given they are a good chance of finishing bottom 4 next year, would we consider doing pick 8 for their F1 and this year's 46?
2 top 10 picks , possibly two top 5 picks plus possibly another mid R1 next year traded with GC for points capital would be juicy as feck for the draft class anticipated next year.

Nope. We have a top 10 pick and some talent to choose from, that getting them 12 months before next year's draft is 12 months more earlier experience under his belt. We had 2 and we traded down for 8 and 12 to get 2 for 1. Take them now. Plenty of talent for the taking

I read that as 'Plenty of talent for tanking'

Keep in mind we traded 2 as the top 3 or so picks were flight risks and the next 10 or so were even. We also hold 20 and 26 and whilst not in the same bracket as 8, there will be some very good options there, possibly Hewitt. So we could still grab 2 mids to develop along with xon Culley Chesser hough and Ledwards in 2023 and then add some real cream next year with the likes of Reid and Curtin around our picks.
I think we would be very tempted.

What would trigger this? A feeling by the recruitment team that Phillipou was not mature enough to cope interstate and then unable to resist the lure of home. We could probably buy back in with Carlton as I suspect their pick at 10 could be purchased.

The chance to pick up the Crows future first is tempting. Pick 8 for a future pick R1 that I'd estimate it at 5-9 and 46.

If it was done at the beginning of the draft, I would forgo 46 and ask for a swap of second rounder - we give them Port's F2 and get Norf's F2. Crows will need some points for the F/S this year hence 46of value to them. Crows will like the idea of holding their rivals future second.

That would see us with future picks of :
R1 - Own and Crows (2 picks in the top 10)
R2 - Own and Norf (2 picks in the early 20's)
R3 - Own and Port (1 pick early 40 and one pick early 50)
R4 - Own (early 60)

The points for the second and onward picks would equate to pick 2 in points so Suns F1 a real possibility

It would mean that we delay the rebuild a bit. It would allow us this year -
12 - Hewett or Hollands
20 - Hotton or Clarke
26 - Burgiel or Jones

Alternative to buying Blues pick 10, I would try to get GWS pick 31 and land Kaleb Smith, Probably need to give up a our future third and change.

The likelihood of Phillipou being there at 8 is probably the thing that makes or breaks the deal. If it was on draft night and we were sitting at pick 8 with Phillipou on the table and able to guarantee it, the price is goes up. "We live in a very different world than we did 30 minutes ago". I would want their F1, Norf's F2 and give them the Phillipou pick and Port's F3. That would effectively be 5-9 and 20-22 for 8 and 50-52.

Keep pick 8 and do the same deal with Gold Coast if Hollands is on the board.

Don’t mind the pick swap thought bubble with Sydney either if we can still get a target by swapping 12 -> 14 and upgrading 26 -> 17.
