ESPN Chris Doerre listed Kobe Ryan as one of the most under rated players in this years draft. As follows: The midfielder whose numbers are bigger against SANFL opposition than Jason Horne-Francis in 2021: Kobe Ryan a potential late or rookie selection, Kobe Ryan is one of 2022's most advanced midfielders and is a strong contested ball winner who does his best work at stoppages. Ryan is one of this year's premier first possession winners. He displays clean, quick hands at stoppages, neat and tidy skills, a lively tackler, demonstrates a high work rate, and possesses good speed and agility. Ryan has averages of 30 disposals and 0.8 goals in SANFL Under 18'ss, 25.8 disposals and 0.8 goals in SANFL Reserves and 18 disposals and 0.5 goals against SANFL League competition. During the under 18 championships , Ryan averaged 22 disposals and a potent 10.3 contested possessions despite spending time stationed on a wing and across half back. Ryans best game was against WA, he was unleashed through the midfield as an on-baller and secured 24 possessions, 13 contested, five clearances, one goal and 3 score assists in a comprehensive performance. Ryan missed the first national game with covid. Apparently a well grounded lad, excellent leadership skills, always in leadership groups or captain/vice captain. Was V.C for SA. Well respected by his peers and team mates. His league debut in the SANFL against the Crows (Adelaide) was 'special" according to league coach, Ryan amassed 22 possessions and kicked 2 goals. Many people shaking their heads where Ryan is placed and will be a great pick up.

I'm definitely doing this on the night, and I can see the appeal for Swans as I reckon the only real need on their list is a key forward. They have Logan McDonald but would want another one. So jumping ahead of Melbourne to grab Jefferson would be highly appealing to them I would think.

For us, moving back two spots with say Hewett, Allan and Hotton on the board is a no brainer. Obviously this is done as soon as the dogs have locked in their pick and Dees have no room to move.
I'm somewhat keen on the trade depending on who is available, however am not keen on Hotton as I'm not sure what his position is at AFL level. High half forward is very hard to crack it. Doesn't seem he's a proven out-and-out mid, and isn't a goalsneak type forward either. And really I don't want a small forward in top 20 unless he's Rachele-Sheezel like

I see him as a goal kicking mid who learnt to play as a forward this year. A lot to like about that skill set

So if Adelaide want to trade into the first round to get Phillipou, they have their own F1 plus 2 x F2 (their own and Norf).

So if there is a seller, that can offer a future first and second. Not saying that is the price but they are allowed to do it per AFL rules and have the future draft capital to facilitate it.

Get :clapping: this :clapping: campaigner :clapping: on :clapping: our :clapping: list

Draft him at 12 or regret it. I wouldn't even be unhappy with reaching for him at 8.

Chad Hewett: "I'm not going to hold myself ransom to a particular state. I will play anywhere"
Virgin Victorian: "Draft me at your own peril, I don't want to leave Victoria and will request a trade home in 2 years"

He sounded very Brendon Goddard like!

There are some pretty decent players around our pick 26/29. Would not be unhappy with either K or J Ryan at 26.

“Going after midfielders”. Does this rule out Buss?

We need top end midfielders. First rounders. 8, 12 and 20 should be mids regardless. We can fill key positions with 26 71.

Sheuy is done..might play 13 games this yr.
Yeo will go down back.
Redden retired
Gaff needs to go back to the wing away from stoppages.
O'Neal needs to step up to next level
SPS isn't a mid
Hough on the wing
Kelly has shown he doesn't cope being the main man, gets a hard tag and is ineffectual. He needs others to be doing the grunt work. His best was with Dangerfield, ablett and Selwood as the engine room.

That leaves 3 very inexperienced unproven players. Although I am quite bullish on these 3, we need depth.
Culley
Clarke
Chesser.

We could not be any more desperate for quality mids of all persuasions. If we don't the midfielder of Melbourne, pies, dogs blues etc will smash us

8 McKenzie, clarke, Humphrey, ginbey, poo
12 has to be Hewett.
20 hotten, cowen

Clark, Hewett, Hotton would be nice.

Definitely talented, and WCE_Phil is a fan!

Two things going against him, he'll do all the hard work and get out of traffic and wheel around to kick and is prone to kicking an absolute scrubber along the ground, he probably does this 1 out of 3 kicks. The other is his size, he's a tad light and looks to have a frame where it he might not be able to put on any decent size. But he has proven this season he can play against men, AFL is a considerable step up though. I see him as a small forward at AFL level, he knows where the goals are and is very good at making space for himself.

Busslinger at 8 makes perfect sense.

We have HEdwards and Bazzo already playing well and developing nicely to fill the tall defender spots, with Gov & Barrass it gives a nice age distribution for development and transition. But sure, let's also draft Busslinger so we have 3 young tall defenders crowding themselves.

Meanwhile in the midfield we have only Kelly who can even get on the park, but all good, Chesser who hasn't played since U-14's is all we need!

If we think Ginbey and Hewett will (or other mids we rate) will be around at 12 and 20, I've got no issues drafting Busslinger at 8.

Yes, we need midfielders, but 2 mids, a key position player and a forward would address a number of needs. Chesser and Culley are essentially new draftees for 2023 too.

We may end up with 3 mids (I'd say at least one would be outside or a mid/fwd if this happened) at 8/12/20 - but we shouldn't be blinkered into only taking mids.

I hope and expect that 2 of those picks are mids, and then the 3rd is something more balanced (ideally a forward - could be a mid/fwd or a KPF if we feel one warrants selection at those picks).

I would guess if Jefferson got past Melbourne at 11 (12) we would seriously look at him. So could end up something like:

Clark
Jefferson
mid-slider (Hotton, Hustwaite, could Hewett get through to here?, Burgiel)
Ruck/small fwd/outside mid

Maybe if we like a Kobe Ryan or Burgiel and think they get through to 26 (wherever that ends up) we might take George if available at 20... or a Keeler in the hope he becomes a Ruck/Fwd more than a Fwd/Ruck...

A lot of permutations but the main thing I am hoping for is balance across the 4 picks.

If Hewett is there at 12, pull the trigger, I hope the Pieman has learnt from 2017 and losing out on Kelly at 20 as planned because we took 2 talls first.
One of Clark or MacKenzie or Ginbey or Hollands should be there at 8 PLUS Hewett just makes sense.

I very much doubt he goes through to 20

Some posters like Hewitt others not so much. Some want Hollands, others think he's vanilla. Some call Clark over rated, others want him. Same for Phillipou, Busslinger, Ginbey, Tsatas and Humphrey.

What chance does O'Brien have of not getting a serve on here from someone?
Personally I don't think he would give a rats arse.

He did get best on in the Colts Grand final.
Look personally i think he'd be worth a punt with our last pick or rookie picks but theres a good chance he goes undrafted
If we're looking at drafting a ruck with a high pick next year then you probably wouldn't bother with broadbent but if he's slide down the draft boards was due to shin splints then who knows we might take him
