Without access but given its the West, safe to say.....WC draft plans are being "spoilt" by <insert WA player name here> being talked to by <insert some other club here>

These guys are good draft watchers and this a mock draft worth reading.
Based on their mock and which players are still available at each pick, I'd be content with Clark & Hewitt at 9 & 13 but instead of Hustwaite & Jones at 23 & 29 I'd take Hotton & Barnett instead.

9 Jhye Clark
13 Elijah Hewett
23 Olli Hotton
29 Harry Barnett

Could just be the Saints playing the game like Hawks are doing with Essendon and Phillipou. Meet with the guy, start a rumour that you’re super keen and try to force us to pick him at 8 so someone else slips through
Yeah, Saints want Mackenzie and want to spook us into taking Hewett so we leave Mackenzie for them.

It’s also good due diligence to be canvassing all players likely to be available around your pick(s)

And yes, Saints would be concerned we might take Mackenzie at 8 so makes sense for them to express an interest in Hewett to possibly force our hand

It’s going to be a long 5 days as speculation ramps up given the names of the players likely to be taken between picks 5 and 13 are consistent but the order they get called out is far from certain

When does this shitshow kick off?

Surely can’t be too hard to do a deal with them then. We don’t take Mackenzie, they don’t take Hewett. Would we rather Mackenzie and Allan or Clark/Ginbey and Hewett?

Mackenzie, without a doubt. It we pair him with Hewett, that would be fantastic but he should be our no. 1 target.

Clubs are playing funny buggers.

Hawthorn had no reported interest in Phillipou until there was talk of Essendon trading down in the expectation that they could get him with a later pick. All of a sudden Hawthorn are flying Phillipou over to meet in Melbourne

Hawks potentially happy for Essendon to take Phillipou with their pick 4(5) but more concerned that another club might take their preferred target if Essendon trade. So they feign interest in Phillipou to put doubts in Essendons mind about trading

Any talk of us trading back up I’m taking with a grain of salt. If we do anything on the night it’s far more likely we trade down if someone offers up something juicy like Port did last year
This was my thoughts. Hawks happy with draft order as it stands, e.g. they see a Tsatas (or McKenzie or Clark) getting to their pick and like it. If Essendon traded out 4 then everything is up in the air again

So depending on which F2 (ours or Ports that we effectively got for Rioli) is being used the trade of pick 2 for 8 & 12 becomes

• Pick 2 and Rioli for 4 and 12

Or

• Pick 2 and our F2 for 4 and 12

Looking at the net result those trades look okay

The question is, who are we trading up to pick 4 to get and is that player sufficiently better than who we could get at 8 to use most likely our F2. Based on the clubs stated opinion on the evenness of the draft I don’t think so

I’d be surprised (and disappointed) if we used any future draft capital to trade up
Where's the talk of us trading back up originating? Is it possibly credible?

If we get Jhye Clark at 8, we should all be incredibly happy, his tenaciousness, mentality and work rate is first class and he has genuine skills as well, I think he could have a very similar affect in our midfield as someone like Serong has had for Fremantle.

My dream is still Phillipou at 8, but I’d be very happy with Clark or McKenzie too. I just hope we don’t take Ginbey or Busslinger.

Clark and Hewett yes campaigners lets go

I can't wait to be severely disappointed when we take Ginbey and Allan
