Bid on Jaspa Fletcher and Alwyn Davey Jr at 12/13/14 or whatever we have.
Leave Jaspa to someone else.

But we should 100% bid on Davey at 20 (whatever it ends up as). Would consume the dons pick 22 and not allow them another player from the free pool prior to our pick 26.

They will match, but if they didn't I think we would be happy to take him at this range.

Don't think Essendon have the rights to Melbournes F/S pick.

If the rumour about Saints possibly grabbing Hewitt are true will we jump on him at 9? Is that too early? Would people be disappointed with that?

8 - Hewitt
12 - Allen/Ginbey
20- ???
26 - ???

Offer 12 & 20 to Sydney for 14 & 17

8 - Hewitt
14 - Ginbey
17 - Allen
26 - Kobe Ryan

Not a big fan of him - he has purple plastered all over him.

Fremantle City Dockers, Aquinas and South Fremantle = that is 3 red lights for me. No need to interview, arrange for an taxi to take him straight to Cockburn or Bondi
I've taught this kid, was an absolute gem to teach, loved his maths in particular. He has always been a diehard Freo supporter unfortunately, but all I can say is that he has the right kind of personality to thrive in the AFL. Very level headed, humble and possesses an incredibly strong work ethic.

I've been told he hasn't touched a drop of alcohol since turning 18 as he is solely focusing on getting the absolute best out of himself. Also been told that if he isn't drafted that he will continue to train and dedicate himself to one day making it.

He honestly has all the mental tools. It's a shame he is only 170cm, but then again....Caleb Daniel anyone?

Thicc Angus gets kept out of the swans talented team of midfielders by Parker, Mills, Warner and the recently retired Kennedy. He broke through for a game as the sub. If he played for us I'd wager he would've played most of the year. At least he came back from his early injury to play 10 VFL games against men. Had some monster games in fact, (30d, 5 tackles round 17 and round 23) better than any of our Beagles depth has ever produced. Averaging 23 disposals, 5.1 tackles as a 19 year old playing his first year. I'd take it if I were Sydney.

Meanwhile perennially injured chesser spent all of 2022... you guessed it... injured. With Xerox games experience since what... under 12's? Still no idea how he goes playing against men, or what kind of player he'll be. But he did drive his car from Melb to Adelaide.

Hope that answers your question of whether we should fold or not.

Hewett at 8 is +1 for me ....I don't care anymore 🙂 .
Probably be the best of the WA group in the long term although Ginbey looks good .

Really like Szybkowski.

Sets training standards, cracks in and a real competitive type. Can accumulate with decent but not elite skills. Say a Redden like output midfielder?

If we do go for Allan earlier getting this kid in at 29ish would help address our inside mid shortfall.

Interesting relationship with Culley, didnt know that. So if cards fell a certain way:

After bids

9 Ginbey
13 Allan
23 Clarke
29 Szybkowski

It would be a deviation from our previous drafting criteria of more proven junior form. More risky and speculative but Who Dares Wins is a worthy motto when rebuilding.

Assuming
Phillapou, Clark, Mackenzie all taken before 9
Hewett ends up in NSW before our 2nd rounder.
Jones goes before our 29
Yeah, I think Redden is a good comparison.

Thanks for your full bodied thick Angus reply.
I know it’s an impossible question to answer, who will have the better career, but a tough inside mid like Angus, could have been just the tonic for us.
Hopefully Chesser gets on the park and has the goods.

His uncle played for Melbourne so you're not going completely nuts

God I feel old that I clearly remember both uncle and dads full careers and they don't feel that long ago

I was surprised Alwyn sr played 100 games, I dont remember him being that good

I've got a feeling Busslinger gets to our second pick and we have a decision between him and Hewett. We take the Bus as he is less likely to get to our next pick and we have other midfield options available at that pick.
