On the draft here are my thoughts:

1. Would have preferred Wardlaw than the pick split but my Intel was that he was a bedwetter who wouldn't leave Vic so we had to salvage the best of a bad situation
2. Sheezel see Wardlaw
3. Don't mind Ginbey pick, hard at it mid with speed and athleticism
4. Would have preferred E Allan at pick 14 over Hewitt, Allen could be anything and I think with 2 picks in the first round we should have rolled the dice on him, hope we don't regret that pick
5. Liked the pick of Barnett, however I thought George was best available at our third pick and we should have taken him, only a small gripe though as I like Barnett pick and George is injury risk
6. Liked Burgiel pick, I would have taken cowan and let him replace Hurn for 2024, only small gripe

On the draft here are my thoughts:

1. The Intel on wardlaw you think is the reason we didn't want him is not the reason why we didn't want him. In time you'll understand.

2. Sheezel will do a runner the Hawks.

3.2 picks inside first round aren't for speculative picks unless you're in a window and certainly not when we need bonafide mids. Our second rounder would've been perfect but pies got in first

4. Best available ruckman in the draft. No brainer for our third. Now if Allen had slipped to then, I might have been conflicted.

5. Cowen will be back in Tasmania by 2027. Now if he is any good, we might well have got some very choice early first rounders as a trade in a severely compromised draft, but he would never have been a 10yr player for us.

it's funny how many people called me a liar a BS artist. That Keys guy especially he hated that I might have Intel to the eagles recruiting, me an outsider loud-mouthed agitator in his eyes I wasn't part of his boys club, but lo and behold I validated myself. Many tried to discredit me, in life there will always be someone looking to take you down a peg, it's usually when your onto something and they are jealous. Tall poppy syndrome, it's very common is this country. We get jealous of the success of others or if someone treads on our turf and shows us up. My sources tell me West Coast are indeed looking at splitting pick 2 and will have a big emphasis on local talent if the pick split eventuates. Im told Ginbey, Hewett and Busslinger are all heavily in the mix in the event of a pick split and they will be favoured ahead of interstate youngsters. I'm told despite the clubs good record of player retention the increasing frequency of the go home factor across the AFL landscape is influencing club recruiters.

Word I've gotten is eagles will not take Phillipou. It won't happen, kid interviewed badly and said he didn't fancy moving to Perth. Apparently drinks his own bath water too from what I was told.

No qualifying the Phillipou info though. It only came out later that he wasn’t interviewing well. The comment re him not wanting to move to Perth is hard to prove but he is on record as saying he wanted to play in Melbourne before big crowds so there’s validity to your Perth comment

As I said before I didn't just call the pick split which was not going out on a limb I agree. I called that we would accept a raw deal tick, that we would be spooked by go home factor which looks like being highly likely to be true as well. Fact is, is that it looks like my Intel was right, whether your ego likes it or not. Swallow your pride friend.

• Comprehension skills. You have none. Regularly you mistake questioning for criticism and extrapolate what you think posters are saying when they said nothing like what you claim.
• Victim complex. Your posts aren’t censored here but you’re in here bleating about being banned or having posts deleted. You were given one ban on this board for mod abuse. The other ban was from admin for surprise surprise incorrectly claiming victimisation elsewhere

WCE_phil, pretty amorphous question, but any other interesting insights (esp. on the way the first round in particular played out)? How much was Phillipou sliding solely a character thing? If Essendon or Hawthorn had picked him, how might that have affected things? Do you know if we were always going Ginbey, or do you think we might have taken Mackenzie or Clark? For that matter, do you know just how likely Ginbey going to GC or Hawthorn actually was?

Apart from that - who was the tall you thought we might be taking with our fourth pick?

Wow that's impressive. You got me. Seriously that's good research I'm not playing. I didn't attack Phil for your reasons though as I explained in recent posts. I'm not sure anyone was suggesting the family video reaction wasn't real. I think it was that he was so super calm and collected during the call from Simmo. If it was me and Simmo called to say all my childhood dreams were about to be fulfilled, I'd probably be a bubbling mess.

There was also a cut of the home video somewhere that showed Elijah still holding the phone to his ear a split second before it was announced and he just looked incredibly excited.

On another point, how cool was Simmo. It was almost like he was about to cry himself!

Thinkbi got over-exuberant in a main board gameday thread a few seasons ago and got a suspension.

Being the swinging dick I am, I immediately created a GWS alias(may have been a few beers deep) and you banned it after 10 minutes, lol.
