Hewett is also a great user by foot. On both feet, he doesn't quite have the same kicking depth on his off leg but is a great kick on both.
Just to nitpick I think Hewett is nothing prodigious on his preferred, but is mostly a good decision maker and plays it safe. Extra points for being clean when at decent pace. Left foot is still a bit of a bail out option at the moment but he is pretty confident in using it and if he can improve it he will be very hard to slow down.

His career average of 9.5 disposals says it all
He averaged 19 possessions and 2 goals a game at Colts level in 2022!

See, I can quote relatively worthless stats out of context too.

It's his 21 disposals per game at the championships and being named MVP that showed recruiters he had successfully transitioned to playing mid at a higher level.

Was also named on ball in the PSA team of the year.

a very uninformed comment.Played in the backline for the first two games at wafl league level. In the last two from memory played forward/wing.I think the same happened with hewett.Swans played him mainly as a forward and not a true mid.

He did also play 2 or 3 warm up games for WA through the midfield with similar possession counts in the 18-23 range.

Disposal stats in champs is an average of 21 disposals and 10 contested.

These kids are 18 years of age, they're not drafted from a second tier competition where they've been leveled against each other across multiple seasons. They're kids.

Club focusing heavily on running speed, which is great, but still seriously lacking elite foot skills and kicking
The only player you could say was a better kick than Hewitt in the top 10 was McKenzie.
Burgiel has speed but also a good kick, Noah Long good, Barnett is good for bloke of his size.

Actually it was Wally Sidebottom that I KO ed with a perfectly delivered shirt front.

No report, no altercation with his team mates after the event, sure in todays game I would be in trouble as my feet did indeed leave the ground.
Wally had been throwing his weight around all first quarter ( he was a big bastard and agro too ) early in the second quarter the opportunity arose and I picked him off as he was chasing down one of my teammates who had the ball, I was just looking after my mate.

After the game Wally and I shared a beer together in the Club Rooms together. :beercheers:
Neither the bump or sharing a beer would be allowed now with the new bump rules and the concussion protocol.

Different era ATG and an era that IMO was better to play in.
After every game the players of both teams and the umpires, all caught up in the home teams Members Bar to have a post game drink drink together.
It lead to good camaraderie and respect between all the players AND the umpires, a tradition thats now long gone and the game is IMO lesser for it.

Played the game hard, sledged hard but then shook hands at the end of the game and had a beer together.

You have a good memory ATG, like I said a very different era and it was a long time ago, when you were just a tall skinny **** playing Colts with the Club.
Good on you for taking out that filthy, sniping, gutless bastard....may he RIP.
And this is coming from someone who played on the same side for 2 years and had to put up with the retaliation for his " deeds" from opposition players looking to square up.

PS I assume you are referring to Wally Jr.

Kinda has a point ^

However everyone is just throwing out these stats to suit their narrative, just be patient. We'll know soon enough how well he goes as a mid at AFL level.

If Ginbey hasn't got a 30+ disposal, 2 goal game in him by round 13, we fold the club and this will be Dinnaz coming back to this thread...

Speaking truth to power

It doesnt.

He had an outstanding year this season and won AA honours. Athletically he is ranking elite in speed and also very highly in endurance. Big frame and hard attitude.

Definately a project player but with great attributes and potential.

Far from an honest trier.
