But the more likely outcome, according to draft sources spoken to by foxfooty.com.au, is the AFL will allow North to pre-list star Tasmanian midfield prospect Ryley Sanders, who the Kangaroos are hoping will be added to their Next Generation Academy after he recently received his certificate of Aboriginality.

If this is the precedent, then 100% Eagles should ask for the same for Lance Collard?

So, one week after Gaff says happy to be traded to reinvigorate career …

We are getting English a year early (90%) …

Connecting the dots here, but I am thinking a straight swap should get it done.

Oh, since the Dockers have a need for Sheed, straight swap for Erasmus/Johnson works also.

It makes sense to a board who want to see instant improvement.

And to be seen as actively addressing our shortcomings.

Stop the floggings.
Except if they wanted instant improvement, or more to the point, were open to buckling to pressure to keep their jobs, they would have sacked Simmo already.

I can't see this club trading #1 for a 27 year old with a blow-wave haircut.

Understood, but that's not what I asked
Ok but only for a mid first rounder and Baz, with maybe our second included as well.

A mid first would entail trading Barrass to Sydney, then looking to split that pick. Or just trade that pick + Baz for Dogs first rounder.

I just don't see the value in offering too much, considering it's not a position of dire need and he's an RFA next year anyway.

Let's say the English rumour is true.. How does the deal look if they want Baz Williams as part of it to cover the loss?

I’d pack Baz’s bags for him, he has had a nice year but English is a top 2-3 ruckman in the league and a genuine gun

If it’s Baz and 19, I’d be very happy.

To clarify, I don’t see English happening this year

Happy to trade for English if it’s one of our late 2nd rounders.

He’s a FA next year trading him this year would be the dogs trying to get something back in return as opposed to nada

Nada? They’d get a compo pick, and if we’re offering big money they’d get a first round pick as compo.

And?

English would be peaking at the wrong time. He'll be 30+ by the time we're looking to even play finals again, realistically.

Williams is finally starting to come good, is the right age profile and would be far cheaper.

It's the wrong call for the list in my opinion, just curious as to Bazs worth to soften the blow if West Coast do the unthinkable. Even if TB leaves I'd prefer to use that draft capital to grab another youngster than ship it off for English. If English is turning the screws then walk away. We're not in the part of our cycle where we can shell out big for talent. Part of his appeal is that he is free next year.

100%.

Don't see any point in trading for him this year. It'll make little to no difference to our results next year.

Hell, him getting 60 HOs in a midfield with Bontempelli & Liberatore still couldn't push them over the line vs a very average Sydney outfit.

What possible difference would he possibly make to WCE?

So we get a upgraded Bailey Williams(English) and that’s going to stop the floggings exactly how?

The same way Nic helped.

We start winning more stoppages with better supply.

English is also very good at pushing back to help our defence.

English and Bailey make a dynamic combo.

Maybe we trade TB and use the Swans 1st and add English plus Reid. Best outcome.

Some have suggested Barnett could be a good defender.

Rucks who can play forward.

English, Bailey and Jack Williams.

Rucks who can play defense. Barnett and Jamison.

🤢🤮
We probably keep 1st rounders
Williams + 2023 R2 + 2024 R2

I just don’t rate Bailey that high, I don’t think his ceiling is much higher than what he’s showing now.

I’m completely fine with not moving for English, but if all it costs to get him is Bailey and a 2nd rounder, yeah I’d do it.
