He actually is a Private School Boy.

But not from a school that plays APS.

He attends Mount Scopus Memorial College.
It’s probably Melbournes premium Jewish School.

Don't think Culley went to private school..

Screw you both with your facts ruining a perfectly good tired old joke

How about we give this overused, unfunny joke a rest?
Its right up there with posting Gee on anything to do with Venables and putting in Jack Watts as a poll option as embarrassing crap just clogging up threads

Is this based on anything specific or just our usual fears about Victorian players?

A little bit of both, let me explain.

He comes from a very close tight knit Jewish Family and Community, who’s faith is extremely important to them.

I lived in Melbourne for a decade and in addition I have close business ties with their Jewish Business community for over 40 years.

I have seen first hand the emotional and spiritual attachment that exists within the Melbourne Jewish Community.
So that leads me to believe that there would be a strong pull on him from his family, friends and community to return home to Melbourne.

I have got to be careful how I worded this reply as I don’t want it to be seen as being Politically Incorrect.

But let’s just say a good analogy would be that I would also be worried of the go home factor if ( for arguments sake ) we drafted a Victorian Club Ex Player and a Favourite son ( who only played 99 games ) - if his son that he would would one day return home to play at the same Club as his father did.

Think the Ebert situation on steroids.

Would Elijah hewett be In top 3 contention if he was playing colts and averaging 30+ touches rather than seniors?
You'd think 30+ disposals and a 1+ goal a game at colts should be about where he should be at based on last year. Then having significant contributions in the seniors, whether that's kicking goals every game as a forward and elite athleticism, skills, tackling etc
With 11 Disposals, 3.2 Tackles, 0.2 Goals up to this point and not really shown anything elite to hang his hat on he cant be rated as high as top 3. Second half of the season will be importatnt as once you get the pace of league footy you can start to show a lot more.

Horne Francis went at #1 playing SANFL league which is comparable to WAFL league went at around
All of 2020: 11 Disposals,3.4 Tackles, 0.5 Goals
First 2/3 of 2021: 15 Disposals, 4.1 Tackles, 0.7 Goals (playing a lot forward)
Last 1/3 of 2021: 18 Disposals, 4.3 Tackles, 1 Goal by the end of the year
Not to mention elite tackling and pressure the full season, with flashes of a good overhead leap and pace to burst away. Had a huge final with 11 clearances 3 goals to cap off 2021.

Nathan O'Driscoll went at #27 played WAFL league all year (2020) playing a bit of defence along with midfield and went at:
2020: 12 Disposals, 5.4 Tackles, 0.2 Goals
Was really strong defensively but didn't have the speed or leap or offensive side to his game.

There’s a reasonably sized Jewish community in Perth, would he be able to link up with that and form similar sort of bonds?

This might come from left field but what is everyone’s take on Jason Horne Francis?

Noted, not a West Aussie but was/is touted a generational talent. Is it worth getting in his ear for a free hit? Or a deal to be had with Adelaide/Port to improve our draft position in the PSD.

Seems like a opportunity.
😂 He’s allegedly not dealing with the sh!t show that is North at the moment. What makes you believe he’d leave one for another?

Sorry, I try to be polite when visiting opposition boards, but sometimes someone says something that just triggers me.

Not totally out of the question, Miguel.
However it’s not just the Faith it’s the double whammy with it also layered between family ties.

Sounds similar to the risk when drafting indigenous kids from the northwest or the NT, where there’s always a chance that the lure of country will end up being too strong to ignore.

I guess all you can do is ask him about it in the interviews and try to assess the individual risk.

One benefit is that if he does decide to return to the Melbourne Jewish community there’s at least eight* clubs he could go to, so it wouldn’t be like Ebert where it was Port or nothing and we were held over a barrel.

(*I’m not counting Geelong, and I’m assuming North will be folded by the time this comes about)

Because unlike the shitshow at North or the one that existed at Brisbane until recent years, we’re unlikely to take a decade to sort out our current issues

Not that I think JHF is remotely likely to head west, but you know sometimes someone just says something that triggers me

How about this:

JHF is a Freo supporter.

Let that sink in...

Your list is wrong.

Gold Coast have a lot of SA kids on their list. They’ve never lost one back to SA.

In fact, both Queensland clubs have signed free agents from Adelaide.

So Adelaide is comfortably at the bottom of your list.

Both QLD clubs have had players based in WA request trades to QLD clubs, so I reckon south east Queensland is just as desirable as Perth as a destination.

But all this has nothing to do with what I was talking about. What I was talking about is purely cultural.

Norths culture is broken. There’s been enough posters here insinuate the same about West Coast under the current leadership.

West Coast’s culture would be easily fixed under the right leadership.

I would hazard to guess North’s would take longer.
