You literally listed a eleventy billion midfielders. Congrats!

A guy I’m liking the looks of in the 2nd Rd is No 33 Henry Hustwaite 194 cm midfielder/utility playing for Vic Country V WA is very composed and has a neat left foot and nice hands ..He is being likened to Pendlebury , I first noticed him in the Academy game V Collingwood he didn’t get a lot of it but was clean ball handling and made some good decisions off Half back ..

He is a very tidy footballer and I agree, one to watch for a pick, in the early to mid second round..

You have summed him up pretty well.

I will be tracking his production closely, in the last part of the season, would like to see him get a bit more of the ball, because he uses it so well when he gets it and is a good decision maker.

Why not take the local boy - Hewitt. Everything I’ve read on him indicates a future star.

I like him but his last 2 u/18 games were not at the same (elite) level as his first game. It would be very interesting to know if there were extenuating circumstances there…no doubt WCE will be across that.

Is Petrucelle worth keeping on the books, quick but does FA else.
A Redden fan but recon we need to be a bit ruthless and cut him free, will be enough older players around the new mids, pump games into the kids.
Think we’ve got the list space to give him a year next year but unless he shows he can start impacting a game both ways across four quarters his times probably up.

The thing with Philipou is if he ever wants to go home, his value
Safe pick would be Hewett the local boy who you've been big on...
I have been, thats why im really interested for this sundays game against SA.

It will be on Optus stadium so if Hewitt can have another big game, then might shift my feelings back..

With the imminent exit of Nelson from our list, I think we should start brainstorming on who our undeserved whipping boy for next year.

Just a quick list off the top of my head for starters.

1: WatermAllen
2: HEdwards
3: Adam Simpson
4: Hutchings
5: Pick #2
I think we're forgetting Rotham.

I've always hated pick two.... prick

Most encouraging thing is that as a left footer he’s prepared to use his right foot if necessary. As opposed to a lot of other left footers (Gaff, Scott Lucas, Heath Black etc) who are stubbornly one sided.
Sheed and Duggan cop a ton of flack but both of them were considered dual sided at this age. Duggans dropped off in his second and Sheed around his 3rd season

Having a look at the replay of this game too.

Gee whiz, with about 10:40 to go in the first quarter Hewett definitely hears foot steps and has a fairly big squib (going back tamely with just an arm) as Hustwaite was bearing down on him. Didn’t look great.

Not sure that's accurate.
In his 12 games of U18 SANFL earlier this year Phillipou averaged 28.0 disposals, 6.6 marks, 5.1 tackles, 4.3 clearances, 7.0 inside 50s, 1.5 goals.
Then against the Allies on 19th June he had 24 disposals, 17 contested possessions, six marks , five clearances, two goals and two score assists.
Coupled with his efforts on the weekend (being injured after quarter time) I think it's fair to say he doesn't have issues finding the pill and is actually tracking at a much higher output than a Bontempelli or Oliver (both of whom I think are comparable in size and style) at the same time of their draft years.
It's just that he's not doing the Diacos, Ashcroft, Swallow level of U18 disposals.

If you wanted to watch Phillipou's game against the Allies see link below:

I'm sold

That Madden from allies is a thick boi, also has the body type with proper lifting coaching and diet could put on a serious amount of muscle
