He has always been top quality as a person.
I for one am sorry that he has left as he seemed like a great influence around the Club.

From a footballing perspective I get the mutual benefit for him and us, from a leadership and example around the Club I think he will be missed.

But then again thats the harsh reality of Football Clubs and List management.

Hickeys problem is he a starting ruckman and not a second fiddle spend time up forward kind of ruck. I think he with Sinclair isn't to bad of a ruck combo. A very money ball kind of combo.

How do we rate the deal for Hickey?

At the end of the day if hickey was out of contract his true value would have been a late 3rd rounder or 50+ pick .

So the way I read it we got pick 58 + Sydney's 2021 3rd

and swapped our 34 for ports 2021 2nd .

I suppose it depends on what we do with it .

We have effectively traded out of this year's draft at this point .

Guess its a wait and see .

Getting langdon and Witherden when our hands were tied seems like pretty good trading .

How do we rate the deal for Hickey?

Honestly, i think we could have done a bit better out of it.

Its good that we have a great ongoing trading relationship with the Swans, but, at the end of the day decent Ruckmen are scarce, Hickey was contracted, and i think most of us would have been quite ok if he had of been retained.

For me, given our leverage and strong negotiating position, pick 25 sounded about right.

Its not a terrible deal, but i truly think Glass should have been a bit firmer on this. Particularly as I rate Hickey higher then Preuss who from memory was also traded for a pick in the 20's
