Must be on the outer with someone/some people. He was captain and is Melbourne through and through.

It is strang.

I can see them at an impass on a new deal because of $$ and length. Viney goes in so hard he wont have a career much over 30 IMO if that.

I would be offering two years. He's tough but does lack finess.

I recon McGov Jnr is gettable this off season and cheap. Still has years on his contract and not delivering at Carlton. I could see them letting him go for a 3rd if you took his contract, maybe not even all of it.

Problem being we dont need another 3rd tall.

I used to be absolutely deadset keen on him, but, unfortunately, he’s turned out to be a mercenary in the Brad Hill mould.

He's rumoured to be on around $700 000 per year.
That's a pass from me.

And that is why he would be getable cheap. Blues would need to keep paying some of that, likely $200k to move him on.

You offer him a longer contract for less and the Blues pay someof it for a year or two.

It a situation where you are really buying a decent player without needing decent draft picks. Shame he isnt a mid though or we actually needed more talls.

Another example is Scully at the Hawks.

That would be a No from me.

Waterman is a couple of grades quality above Jnr McCov.
Snake is also a hard worker and does a lot of two way running / chasing and the 1%ers.

We don't need another "tweener ", spasmodic inconsistent, 3rd tall player that goes for mark of the year each week..... we already have Ah Chee.

Jrn McCov is IMO a lazy player and not a team player.

Yeah so why bother? Youve just talked yourself out of it

Yep

Jrn Gov thinks work ethic ran in last years Melbourne Cup.

Mark Hutchings long term future?
Last two years have been wrecked by soft tissue injuries and Ainsworth has shown he can play the lock down role.

Could be a hard decision made on him coming up

It's likely reduced list spots and salary cap, and you want us to go after someone from your own admissions we don't have a need for?

Probably initially i thought hutch being in the team meant we were never going to be a threat. Geez he proved me wrong and he's been invaluable over the last few years but his time may have come to an end.being played on ultra speedy hbfers sometimes doesn't help and our mega talented starting midfield also means he probably doesnt have a spot.we need to get the youngsters in when we can so this should be hutchs last season.
I daresay he'll move into coaching/mentoring after seeing him at training sessions teaching the young guys

Out of contract and can't get on the park . Would rather make a list spot and have a crack kyron Hayden who is an unrestricted free agent and has shown a bit this season .
Hayden has all the tools to be a great player and just needs a decent run with injuries . Has been very unlucky with a couple of collisions this year .

The norf board think he is on the verge of breaking out .

Its the situation thats interesting.

Are there other players in a similar state? One's we have a need for!

Polec is another but going to a 4th club raises questions.

What cap space is available this year is anyone's guess. Hard job being a list manager. ATM.

Broke down in two vital matches in the last 12 months without a consistent run in between.

I'm not sure the decision is overly hard, breaking it to him might be hard though. He's vastly exceeded my expectations and it's unlikely we win 18 without him, but he's too replaceable to be kept really.

I think he should go tbh. Without good draft picks and an aging list we really need to start clearing the deadwood and seeing if we can get lucky with some diamonds in the rough. Will probably come down to how much the lists are cut but I expect he will get another year.

The same norf board who said that gaff was 100% going to them? :$

Hayden has shown enough for norf fans to not want to lose him but they did the old we will put you on the rookie list thing with him last year because of injuries.

It now makes him an UNRESTRICTED FREE AGENT. If we could talk him into it we could just put him on our list for nothing .

He has some very desirable afl traits.

Sounds like he has had some issues settling in at North, and didn't really like Melbourne at first.

He sounds gettable.
