My wife told me at 4pm yesterday that there was 14 suspected cases that they were awaiting positive tests for, so who knows how many more there could be that have been identified through testing yesterday.

I think that Marshall is sh*t scared to completely lock down the state because it's so close to Christmas, but if things aren't improving by the end of the week he'll have no choice.

He's definitely earning his money at that moment.
14 out nearly 5000 tests, still not too bad.

Hopefully won't be as bad as Victoria and we snuff it out early.

These clusters will pop up over the next few years.

It is a breakdown though that the cleaner of the MediHotel was not subject to routine testing.

Anyone in the chain involved with Hotel Quarantine should be routinely tested. The fact that was not the case is a massive failure of procedure.

I feel that many of those tested wouldn't have had symptoms, but could be in the very early stages of the illness. Just like Hannah.

All close contacts though

I haven’t been getting face to face delivery for ages, no need to these days, just get them to leave at the door and pay prior. Surprised pizza shops are still doing face to face delivery.

yeah cool thanks for this - i thought this was the case

my mum timed a surprise birthday visit to a friend on the Yorke horribly wrong by being in SA just on the weekend and returning to work in Brisbane on Monday - she was then sent home from work, told to get a test and now has to isolate for 2 weeks

i don't know why they made her get a test immediately on the monday, because even if she somehow managed to get exposed to it, the test would be negative for a few days anyway

Does anyone know why the people in the Medi Hotels need to quarantine for another 14 day. Have our security stuffed this up as I would have thought the guests would have done a final test before being let out so if negative after 14 day all should be good. The rooms are supposedly isolated so has happened something out of the expected.

An abundance of caution until they can figure out what’s going on is my guess - with a level of confidence that the premier can say there is no risk to the community - because Christmas would be cancelled if we get it wrong.

Upcoming presser from Marshall could be worth listening to

A few urgent meetings have been called around the place. I think tighter restrictions are all but certain. I think the numbers might be small but we are going real hard early.

One thing people have not thought about with the future of OS travel is the cost of Travel Insurance.

COVID will now be included in this (insure against treatment for COVID while travelling) and premiums will be quite high. Especially if travelling to the US and even Europe.

This will be with us for a few years. Vaccines will suppress it, but let's get real, the world will not be free of COVID for a decade plus.

I spent a year and a half in North America in my 20’s. No insurance.
nowdays my credit card gives me free travel insurance if it doesn’t cover Covid who cares I’ve got no Covid insurance here either. Except (Medicare) but it won’t pay my bills etc. Lots of people don’t insure their houses. Risk is evident everywhere and it’s an individuals choice how they choose to manage it.

On your last point, the Aussie doctor that developed the HPV vaccine was saying this morning 5 years for complete coverage. It won’t need to be 100 % coverage worldwide to be safe anyway. World travel can open as soon as a vaccine is available as only those wanting to travel will need it. Plus healthcare workers and vulnerable people and anyone else that wants it. If you want to come here also you need to have had the vaccine. Lucky if 20% - 30% of Australians will need it initially.
Because it will be virtually unheard of here.

I would rather had had a decent lockdown for two weeks from Monday night, then the potential for lockdown over Xmas.

At the moment there really isnt any hard restrictions in place. Aside from the gym, you can do most things.
