Well no idea who they are testing driving through the women's health entrance then ;)

It's not open during the day when the walk in clinic is open... just in the evenings. I was told it was relatively quiet last night... & didn't look too busy when I walked past half hour ago.

Where else are you meant to pee if youre in the pool already? :$
Could be worse...

Not a drive through COVID test site.....get your eyes tested.

The walk in is officially open till 8pm. But some suggestion today that could be pushed out.

Sounds like we are still getting very few, if any, cases outside of the close contacts which is great news. 5 new cases from 5000 tests yesterday, one still under investigation but only because Spurrier was made aware in the last hour (sounds likely this is a close contact though). Even the 14 under investigation are all close contacts and in quarantine already. I think if there was significant community spread we would at least see some signs by now.

I am feeling the same way. Completely false hope but it would be nice to get a zero toward the end of the week followed by a week of no cases next week. That is obviously absolute best case.

Just asked a friend of ours who works in the WH area.

You are partially right.

When the walk up hits critical numbers after 430 pm they are sending limited numbers (5 at a time) through there in their cars, if they drove there..

So you have to present at the walk up, get your number, then they randomly ask people if they want to use the WH driveway option.

You can't just drive up there. They don't want cars backed up.

I'll clarify tomorrow... but definitely people driving through the women's health entrance & being tested.

It was in use during the peak of the 1st wave, was shutdown & only just opened up again with the latest outbreak.

The Hampstead Centre one is the one I used & is definitely drive through.

Nothing to do with Covid or any of the vacine that Australia will be getting to combat Covid,
Insert from the Announcement,
"The largest flu vaccine manufacturing plant in the southern hemisphere will be built in Melbourne, in an effort to make sure Australia has stockpiles of critical vaccines and antivenoms in the future"

"It will provide support for pandemic flu, seasonal flu, antivenoms and Q fever," he said.

"It's a five-year process to construct a major new vaccine facility [and] it locks Australia's sovereign vaccine manufacturing capability for the next two decades."

It will be funded through a joint venture between the Federal Government, who are putting $1 billion towards the project, and Seqirus - a subsidiary of biotech company CSL - which will contribute $800 million.

"It's the long term benefit ... we have the capacity with CSL's existing plant in Melbourne, [but] that's an egg-based facility and the world is moving to cellular facilities, so we didn't want to lose that capability."

Also importantly, The new facility will be built in Melbourne's Airport business park.

Its critical to get this done. Everything at the moment is manufactured in China. Surprise surprise. (in best Gomer Pyle voice)
We really need to ween ourselves off of the reliance on Chine. The whole world does.
I think I read that every antibiotic was manufactured in China. Ludicrous.

Not everything CSL's who going to co-partner with the government has an existing plant in Melbourne, but as mention, that plant is mainly an egg-based (chicken eggs), this new plant will be cellular-based facilities,

Just for Intrest it the CSL's Melb base plant that is currently manufacturing the Oxford-Astra Zeneca vaccine

Which makes you wonder how many people are really overeating to the need to get tested?
Yes, only people who were in one of the areas of risk or showing flu like symptoms should be getting tested as a priority.

Others should stay away.

Hay Fever season every 3rd or 4th person has one of the symptoms, Pretty hard to say no to them all,
Yes, but they have symptoms which may be flu like.

My point was about those who have no symptoms & getting tested ahead if those who need testing.

But haven't we heard thru out the covid pandemic that not all people show symptoms,
And the Area's in Question are large and would take in over 20% of the SA Population

Look, you just don't get it!

Another vaccine with very high effectiveness. Hopefully they are already preemptively making as much as they can for rollout before Christmas.

At this time Australia heavily involved in Producing the 38 mill doses Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine in Melb, and Purchasing 40mill doses of Novavax and 10mil of Pfizer(Novavax and Pdizer are 2 doses per person), They also have dibs on the CSL Queensland uni vaccine but that due mid 2021.

Sneezing isn't a symptom of COVID. Yes, you can obviously spread it easier if you're asymptomatic, but it's not a symptom. It's a dry cough and fever which are the main ones (with sore throat and loss of taste/smell being other seemingly common ones). As a hayfever sufferer, I know the difference between it and a virus.

I do get your saying
"only people who were in one of the areas of risk or showing flu-like symptoms should be getting tested as a priority, Others should stay away"

I am saying it hay fever season re flu-like symptoms and that we are talking about and containment area that contains 20% of SA population that would have either been to one of the problem areas or come into contact with someone who has, So there a very good reason there a lot of people being tested and rightly so,

aaaa

But a coughing running nose, headaches, are which can be a symptom of hay fever to a lot of people,

Unfortunately in a country where toilet paper is worth its weight in gold. Stupidity is rife.

I agree, if you have flu like symptoms and have definitively been in those hot zones during those particular times, yes.

I cannot understand the logic of some people who havent and yet wait in queue for hours to get tested. In fact these people are doing more damage by potentially denying higher risk people from going out and getting tested quickly.
