Autopsy Crows vs Hawks - Tear it apart here

I hate the hawthorn board. Almost as bad as sitting in the hawks members.

But go hawks! Great to win the ugly ones, very pumped.

Terrible. It's like the expectation is to win every game by 10 goals. We all know what blowing our wad on home and away games turned out last season. We are pacing ourselves smarter this year

Just did enough again this week but we were better than last week.

Don't normally comment of oppositions players here but Tambling really is an ordinary footballer, how many mistakes did he make tonight.

And here we go (radio commentary)
"(team vs hawthorn) really deserved to win it"
"(franklin's opponent) did so well"
"(rampant possession winner) put in such a great performance"
"(young opposition gun) really shows some great signs".

Meanwhile, if it was Geelong or Sydney coming through with the win in the same circumstances all the commentary would be about having the will to win and great culture. etc.

There were two sides out there today - ours was the better one.

5-1. I'm enjoying that.

Four points

**** you umpires

Big **** you Eddie

A lot of players down and the fixture is taking its toll
Hope goo and lake are okay

Great game from ruff
Gunston showed a bit more today

Hope it's nothing serious for bails

Looking forward to seeing Jed back

Played the game out well in the last, Stratts take a bow. Has been immense this season. Good signs from Doc as well and good to see Guerra come back on.

Birch, Burgers and Franklin struggled to get into the game and Franklin may have a few issues with the MRP. We really weren't playing like ourselves in the 2nd and 3rd quarters. Little effort off the ball in terms of running and bodywork.

Agree, really need to pull it together on game day, we will have goals kicked against and we will lose the odd game.

Not the prettiest win but at this time of the year only the 4 points matters. Reamed by the umpires two weeks running and since we play the AFL's lovechild next week my money will be on three in a row. Overall tonight wasn't our greatest effort but the way we responded in the last quarter was pleasing to see.

Roughead - did some nice things but also made a number of basic errors
Mitchell - quietest game I've seen him play in years which really hurt us given how much we rely on him
Osborne - poor for the second week in a row
Hill - nice game from the youngster, he's been important for us this year
Sewell - not a massive performance in his first game back but having him there in the contests really helped
Hodge - quiet but stood up in the last quarter for the second week in a row
Lake - was bloody terrific last week
Gibson - great effort today, was everywhere in the second half. Really pleasing to see after he had the quiet one last week
Guerra - he's struggling this year
Gunston - best game this year, great to see him kicking goals again!
Hale - didn't see him take a contested mark which is pretty disappointing
Bruest - another strong performance
Franklin - less said the better
Shiels - bit quiet
Puopolo - faded in the second half but his effort in the first was great to see
Simpkin - not a huge impact but still better than Savage
Stratton - extremely solid as ever
Duryea - bit of a mixed bag, some nice things and a few mistakes. promising kid though

Next week will be a real test. Luckily its at the MCG and not in Sydney. Hodge, Lake & Guerra all seemed to be very sore so unfortunately we might have some withdrawals

**** off Mcguire. Maybe show us a replay of that free which cost the Crows against Collingwood in that final not too long back.

Nah, all they need to do is short the replay of the first quarter EXACT SAME CALL against Roughie. But we'll never get that, it was in the first.

Aye, Hawks gameday threads are hard work.

Then don't post in them. Then you won't have to make the comment how terrible your fellow supporters are.

Yes Simpkin should get a full game next week imo.

Could even be an impact sub. Comes on the ground, runs hard at it and finds the ball.

If you told me we would be 5-1 6 weeks in after our fixture I'd be happy. Doing it without a lot of players hitting their straps and some cameo performances here and there. If we can all lift as a team then I think we can go deep into the finals.

Stratton has to be in contention for AA Backpocket position on this form. The guy covers his man and is good enough to cover his teammates when they mess up. I think a lot of the boys in the defense had a pretty poor defensive game (Goo, Duryea, Birchall) and they better be patting Gibson and Stratton on the back for their performance.

Broost work rate has been impressive this year. Runs so hard. Was sensational in the last quarter.

Roughy plays so much better as a ruck forward. I just don't know about Hale anymore. This was his opportunity to shine against an out of form Jacobs and he didn't really grab it. I'd like us to try Roughy and Max as a combination. Hale to get a rest or a run in the twos. Anything to get him in to form.

I really liked Smiths run and pace. He can botch a kick but he puts in a lot of effort to run into space. Hill is quality. Took the hit as well which I was impressed with.
