I'd pick Travaglia TBH.
He's quicker and has better endurance, he breaks lines, he is a good defensive runner (which Langford is not) and also an exceptional interceptor.

He's quicker and has better endurance, he breaks lines, he is a good defensive runner (which Langford is not) and also an exceptional interceptor.
Whilst I do rate Travaglia, and do think he is worthy of a top 10 pick for the right team, I can see the argument for Langford being the number 1 pick and believe Langford has the higher ceiling. Langford is an elite mark, has a borderline elite left foot kick that can break lines, has excellent vision, reads the play well, can play inside whilst also hurting teams on the spread, can intercept, kicks goals, and was the joint Larke Medallist. Langford has also improved his speed over the course of the year, I am guessing the Combine results will tell if he is a sub 3.1 seconds for the 20 metres, and if his endurance has improved in the beep test. A couple of pre-seasons in the AFL will also markedly improve both of these categories.

Lalor seems to be coming for pick 1 with a head of steam. Thoughts?
I have always thought he could be the best player in the draft
But will state I think he will be a slower burn, in that it will take 3 seasons for him to hit his mark
He wont be winning the rising star in his first year
He has so much work to do on his fitness
This is a kid that has never ever done a preseason because of cricket commitments
So upside is huge, but playing inside mid and being unfit is a recipe for being injury prone
And this will his problem because one preseason wont fix his fitness issues
Especially since new recruits first pre-season is scaled back so much

Richmond have been Rumoured to be into Lalor for awhile, so it's no surprise he is linked to them, Cal seems to have mail that Richmond are choosing between FOS and Lalor, as for Lalor, he played good footy for a disappointing Vic Cohntry side in the u16s, debuted later that year as a 15 or fresh 16 yo for GWV Rebels, played well and then had a good year in his underage year for the Rebels, unfortunately injured for most of this year, but showed signs of quality with his strong pack marking playing forward, has played mostly midfield but has showed that he can fit into a forward line if needed, strong medium sized mid/forw, the pick 1 is open this year, most of the top 10 could go pick 1 without too many surprises.

They play different roles.
Langford is a midfielder who can win plenty of footy, take strong contested marks, run all day, but limited speed
Travaglia is an intercept specialist who can create counter attack/Turn over footy, run and carry, has speed, positions well in defence, he can then run forward as an option in the same play as he intercepts.
It's like asking, who is better? Dangerfield or Stewart for Geelong? (differences in style and ability, not a direct comparison)

i think the biggest winner from the combine is Gabriel Stumpf from Northern who is a 196cm KPF who played a couple games for Vic Metro at the u18s, looked good at Northern and at the trials, his athletic traits are better than i thought, he doesnt kick enough goals as a forward atm but could develop that side and could make the transition as a defender with that athletic profile, AFL Clubs love proven athletic traits so i would guess a lot of clubs would like to give him a chance based on those performances. (5th best recorded 20m sprint ever!!! and the highest standing vertical jump)
Luke Urquhart also did very well of those not certain top 30 picks who will move up a bit based on combine results imo (2.97 20m sprint 6:25 2km)
Jasper Alger did well also with 6:30 2km and 2.931 on the 20m sprint as well as having the odd big game this year
Leo Lombard had a huge combine nearly breaking records, should push him into top 5 imo
Alix Tauru also is quick and flies high which we've seen, but this guarantees his top 10 credentials or thereabouts, those elite berserker viking genetics shining through
Rhys Unwin also showed his agility and speed and his move into the midfield from being a small forward has improved his stocks imo, but these combine results will also help
i think all 6 will boost their draft stocks, being top tier in multiple different trials that gives them advantage in their position or roles that they will play at the next level...
P.S. FOS having a good 2km(6:28), sprint(2.98), agility(8:15) and running jump(93cm) results prove he has an amazing athletic profile, possibly the best all round profile in this draft.

Is it fair to compare FOS to Deledio?

i didnt see enough of Deledio to make that comparison, but i guess similar but FOS has a stronger build, Deledio was a bit slimmer.

Lids was a unit at one stage. Probably when he needed to play more inside.

Saw most of these boys play over the years during the Coates Talent League at normal U19/U16s level, school football and the 2023 U16 National Championships. This draft seems different from the usual, as apart from the top few prospects, it seems very open and has a lot of room for some people to fly up the ranks, so instead of talking about the main prospects, here are some of your listed second round picks that I think could be massive risers.
Cooper Duff Tyler (Calder Cannons):
Serious potential in this one. Tall player with a basketball background but moves so incredibly well, could be the perfect modern midfielder that many teams are looking for, wouldn't be suprised if he makes his way to a top 10 pick by the end of the year, keep an eye on him to rise massively in 2025.
Mitch Moate (Northern Knights):
Unfortunately suffered an ACL injury this year, stopping him from playing for the majority of the year. He is an explosive midfielder rated highly by his peers for his work ethic and clean skills with ball in hand. Seeing him still at a second round projection after missing a year is promising, definitely someone to look out for in season 2025.
Xavier Bamert (Sandringham Dragons)
Didn't play much football this year, also suffered a shoulder injury in 2023 which forced him to miss the day grand final in the National Champs. Fantastic runner and covers the ground tremendously, along with being a strong mark and having great ball use.
These are just a few of the players I think have great potential, and are the most likely to rise next year to possible first round, or even top 15/10 picks.
