Any chance that Simpson asked for an extra draft pick, meaning he plans to delist an extra player?

Willing to give Vozzo the benefit of the doubt until now...wtf is he doing?!?!

Why would we trade for another pick in this draft, meaning we need to turn over an extra player when we have a new senior coach coming in?!?

Totally miffed... o_O

We have plenty of players that we know will not be in the mix under Simpson as they can't kick for shit. Some will go this year, more will go next year no doubt. I can't wait till we get a team where most players can hit some freaking targets.

If it was up to me, at the end of next year we should trade Priddis and Rosa while they have value to get a whole lot of sub 30 picks in a strong draft.

Trade period next year will be different again. Simpson needs a year to assess the list, it appears we have gone a middle of the road approach this year

We've basically moved on 5 blokes who's bodies had nothing more to give plus Hams who I think wasn't keen on playing for East Perth.

Upgrading Tunbridge and Bennell was premature as it robbed us of a bit of flexibility with our list management (particularly as the decision was made before Simpson's appointment) because we currently only have one list spot available after the acquisition of Xellis and Yeo.

Means we are going to have to delist at least two and possibly three players if we are to use any of 31,43 or 49. The fact that we traded next years 3rd rounder to Gold Coast means that we obviously want to use 43.

Next year Glass and Cox will be considering retirement and a heap of others will be trying to prove they deserve a new contract

I hear you, was still thinking Simpson would give it a year to suss everything out. Especially considering we've already had six retirements as such.

Ah well...bring on the draft.

Why delist Wilson? I thought he showed a lot of promise when he was given a run.

I'm not saying we should, I'm just not sure who else we could delist in addition to Newman and Dalziell, and we'll need to delist three to use pick 49. I read somewhere that we offered Dalziell a year so that's why I didn't suggest him. I'm not sure who else is not contracted.

This is from the contracts thread:

Contracted until the end of 2013 (3):
Blayne Wilson - Believed to have signed a 1 year contract (2013) in October 2012.
Brad Dalziell - Believed to have signed a 1 year contract (2013) in October 2012.
Cale Morton - Contracted for 2013.

Unknown Contracts (12):
Matt Rosa – Signed a contract in May 2012.
Josh Hill - Signed a contract in September 2012.
Jamie Cripps -
Brant Colledge - Probably signed for 2 years (2013, 2014) when drafted (No source)
Adam Carter - Probably signed for 2 years (2013, 2014) when drafted (No source)
Mark Hutchings - Probably signed for 2 years (2013, 2014) when drafted (No source)
Fraser McInnes - Probably signed for 2 years (2012, 2013) when drafted (No source)
Murray Newman - Probably signed for 2 years (2012, 2013) when drafted (No source)
Matt Priddis – Signed a contract in June 2013.

I am actually reasonably happy with our trade period. I really like Yeo, we should get Sheed/Acres with 11 and still have a couple of picks for sliders as well as hopefully DG.

I will be very disappointed if we chop Wilson though, I reckon he has some really big upside..

Phew, No Bootsma. :rainbow::rainbow: Was beginning to get really worried we were going to trade in that fugly fug fug the way things have been going.

I would like to see that. None of those guys are going to be in a premiership winning side, so lets get rid of them.

exactly.

dalziell is depth at best. And if he is in the team I suspect we have plenty of injury concerns and the year can be called a write off. May as well get time into youngsters.

Morton is just meh, took more then half the season to find form in the wafl and even then he wasn't world beater. What's worse is he seemingly has no role in the team so we are just wasting our time.

also wouldn't lose sleep if wilson got cut. he is too slow and I would much rather pump games into Carter.

I'm quite happy to take 4 picks in the ND.

Looks like Morton's gone.
And I really hope we don't get rid of Wilson!

Could Dalziell get the chop? Would be very unlucky considering the year he had but its not entirely out of the question as we saw his best this year and its hardly irreplaceable. Especially considering the acquisitions of Yeo and Ellis.

I don't, no. What's the point in nitpicking over 10/11 or 28/31? That's just being narrow sighted. We got the player we wanted and kept our first and second round picks.

I'm sure if the quality of draft between 6 and 11 was greater than it actually is, we would have kept 6 or pushed harder for 10. But it's not, so we didn't.

We will have to agree to disagree.

Carlton really wanted Docherty, yet they held firm on 33 and not 32 (only 1 spot!).

You see it as narrow sighted, I see it as the club displaying that they are willing to compromise and it sets a precedent for not just this draft but potentially for drafts to come.

Neither of us know if we really wanted pick 10 and when collingwood said no we just said ummmm ok. While I hope it doesn't happen imagine Collingwood and Brisbane picking up Sheed and Acres just before 11. Before you say there are many other options that will be left.. I question whether a) we will miss out on a slider to #6 and b) now we miss out who we really want at 11.

As I said before I am happy with where we're at but to think we couldn't have done better and to believe that every move out club has made is the right move is naive.

Another tall defender as a project player is important to us. The bottom of our list is not AFL worthy so why not go fishing and see what is left in the draft.

Agree. Even as a mature age rookie selection. There's some talent around in the state leagues. A project ruckman to develop for the period post Dean Cox would be nice to

Starting to warm more to Acres at pick 11 if he is available or Sheed just to prove Terry Wallace is a dead set spanner head again.

Would love one of Cripps, Jansen or Tsitas with a second round pick
