Seriously doubt it.Taranto & Hopper ever going to play in another finals series again.
Or GWS the last time they experienced such privileges?
Eh they’re on huge salaries.
Was always a gamble but more money in their back pocket than GWS could’ve afforded at the time, I think they’d be pretty content.
In July it was reported that he was actively talking to his teammates and trying to convince them to stay at Richmond, which obviously didn't work. Even back then he knew what was coming if they all left Punt Rd. I'm sure the money is great but losing will eventually get tiresome and he'll likely seek a trade after a few years in a struggling team like Tom Mitchell did after 4 poor years at Hawthorn. The sad part is that Taranto is likely to waste the best years of his career at Richmond given he's about to turn 27 and the Tigers have only just committed to a full rebuild. You'd have to think Taranto at least asked the question to his manager about a trade.
Taranto's 26, if we make finals in 4-6 years he'll still be playing.Taranto & Hopper ever going to play in another finals series again.

You guessed wrong. My guess is they would be seething behind closed doors!
So true brother. And it took a brave and concerted effort to not only climb out of that abyss, but to also collect 3 premierships along the way. Other clubs in similar financial and on-field dilemmas didn’t fair so well. It drove clubs like Fitzroy F.C. into extinction and other clubs like South Melbourne F.C. to be banished, renamed and sent packing interstate. We’ve come a long way since then and have become a better organisation for it, and a model to other clubs. You also have being near the bottom of the ladder for decades covered too.
Geelong were keen Hopperthe answer is yes but remind me who were the other clubs interested in them at the time?
I wonder if the recent Taranto/Hopper experience will prevent others from moving to the big Melbourne clubs. If you're not winning regularly then being at a big Melbourne club probably isn't a very nice place to be.the answer is yes but remind me who were the other clubs interested in them at the time?
Hopper made a massive mistake not going to geelongGeelong were keen Hopper
Think Saints were into Taranto
Meh, they thought they had one last crack but misread things …. Can’t blame the tigers for tryingIt was so hilarious seeing Richmond supporters going "hurr durr we're back cos Taranto and Hopper durrr".
I commend the Tigers for finally rebuilding (although it was probably strongarmed by multiple players nope'ing the F* outta there) but it had the scent of West Coast and their supporters at the back end of their window and Collingwood supporters now...
Maybe. But neither will be a part of your next flag in 2057.Gotta have a crack while (you think) the window is open.
Having Hopper and Tarantos experience will be invaluable to our young mids in Lalor, Smillie, Hotton and McAuliffe.
I'm sure you would've thought the same about a 27 year old trent cotchin and a 28 year old jack riewoldt at the end of 2016. They even thought it about themselves.Maybe. But neither will be a part of your next flag in 2057.
We made a mistake trading for Hopper as much as he made a mistake leaving for us. He has been poor, mostly due to his body failing.
Taranto is a fair chance to be our next captain though. He should still be playing at a high level when we're back playing finals.
Spot on, it's their role to do for Richmond what the likes of Ward did for GWS. Richmond's list is in a similar phase to the Giants of 2013/2014. That 1-6 win mark for the season to stockpile more picks would be an ideal result, so long as Taranto et al show the kids the right way to play.Gotta have a crack while (you think) the window is open.

I wouldn't. People have forgotten how good of a player he is when fully fit and he's only 27. All of the guys above bar Hopper can play multiple positions too.Yep. Would be shocked in Hopper is in a Richmond jumper from after next year onwards.
Richmond could afford to pay a lot of his salary to source a trade. Someone will take a chance on him. Won't get anything close to what they paid but it makes no sense to keep him around.
They just recruited 2 inside mids in the top 10 and next years draft the top few prospects includes big inside mids. Taranto will see out his contract and has been very good.
