I've heard whispers that North might try and package 32 and 47 for Brisbane's 23 so they can get Robertson. Didn't think he'd survive that long. Time will tell....

Would be a big no from the Lions

Why should we have bid on Green? didn't fit our plans. Pickett isn't a reach and we will see about Jackson, go home factor my worry.

GWS would have matched and you would have an extra player to chose from at 10

Without SOS GWS would = GC

Again, completely off the mark.

Firstly, we had 12 months and a lot more currency than GCS.

Secondly, the AFL made better decisions by giving us an icon in Kevin Sheedy as a spiritual leader and charismatic face of the club and Mark Williams as an experienced coach.

Thirdly, we were fortuitous to draw from a much better pool of 17yo talent than GCS and grab players pre draft like Cameron, Treloar and Shiel.

Fourthly, Gubby Allan and crew came up with the inspired idea of utilising Breakfast Point and turning it into a college style environment which the young players enjoyed. They kept them together and got them to bond and buy into a culture.

Fifthly, we targeted younger experienced players like Ward, Davis and Scully as well as some mongrel in Mummy and cheeky class in Shaw who have ended up great leaders.

Sixthly, we have been magnificently led by a hard head in Dave Matthews, an ex AFL man who knows how to play the game and is not intimidated my anyone.

They are the reasons we are not currently GCS, but GCS are now getting their stuff together and will eventually be successful.

SOS just happened to be in the right place at the right time. Yes he got some picks right (notably Kelly and Lobb), but he also burned a heap of currency and overall did a poor job with the unprecedented currency he had at his disposal.

Happy to have Caruso over him every day of the week.

Not our job to keep clubs honest for the rest of you. Adelaide didn't have to trade them pick 4, Saints didn't have to trade them pick 6. Whinge at someone else.

Stoked with Kemp & Philp for Pick 9. Kemp could be anything. Rivers Ralphsmith Robertson or Honey would be good at 44. There is some good talent left including some talls.

I think we are going to be much better off than if we landed Papley

The Stocker trade just gets better and better

Great Trade/Draft period for Blues. Add another young talent plus Martin maybe Webb as a rookie and we now have the depth to push for finals in 2020. Then 2021 watch out 😎
Not sure how you pulled it off after reading the first couple sentences but that post got progressively more and more delusional as it went on.

Is Deven Robertson a clone of James Worpel?

- Competitive beast
- Known for poor kicking in draft year.
- Both captained a team to premiership(Robertson for WA, Worpel for Geelong Falcons)
- Both featured in the Under 18's All-Australian team
- Both slid further than expected

Unsure if mentioned earlier, but Flanders does not look happy to be going to the Suns

Oh man, his family told a story when he was picked.

He would of been sitting there knowing he had slid down the order. Probably pretty content after Freos picks with 3 vics clubs up next in Carlton, Melb and hawthorn. He and his folks would of been quietly confident he was staying in Vic....

Then bam! Blues have traded their pick. Oh shit. Maybe they wont pick you Sam. Oh shit!

Worley did not slide anywhere near as much as Robertson has, though they do seem to have quite a bit in common as you pointed out.

A lot of SOS hate, it will be hard for you defend your position in 2-3 years when Carlton is top 4 off his rebuild here.

Your clubs going nowhere and it's due to lack of imagination with trades and drafting.

What talent did Essendon add to their list?

And you cant include keeping players that desperately want out

No, I don't think you have factored in the live trades.
I did actually. The full explainer is in the draft order thread:

If there’s something specific that you have in mind that looks wrong, post it over there and we’ll track it back to figure it out.

What I have matches with the AFL’s official version though so if I’ve missed anything so have they.

Intrigued by what North and Essendon do with their picks ? North are in a good position to pick up a couple of sliders and bolster the depth of their list.

Think they are in good shape going forwards (finals probably a tad beyond them in 2020 though), but that pick swap with the Dees gives them an wonderful opportunity to pick up another gun kid and trade for an out of contract star at the end of next season.

So that would be 7-8 years after he started? Holy shit you'd hope Carlton was close to top 4 after that long. What a masterstroke

Which deal will be remembered as SOS’s best?

-Tom Bell and pick 23 for Charlie Curnow
-Henderson for Harry McKay
-Gibbs for two first round picks
-pick 4 (Ash) for 19 (Stocker), 17 (Kemp) and 20 (Philp)
-Yarran for Cuningham
-Jack Martin for nothing

Or are there other mastermind deals that I’m forgetting
