I'm definitely with you on this one.

If it did go down that way then we still retain 16-21 which will net 2 fine young mids I'm sure.

I would also assume that we must have something coming back to us, possibly 24 this year. As some have already predicted 21 may get us back into the first round next year anyway.

I don't think it's catastrophic list management as some seem to suggest. There is of course risk attached to paying so much for a single player - however if this is the deal then the club obviously feel it's a risk worth taking.

All this flippant talk of - no worries we'll just get them back in 2 years on the cheap is largely BS given our record.

If we want him that badly and we have the currency to get it done then strike now.
I think that if the afl relax the stupid and restrictive rules, then bundling multiple picks will become common.

There seems to be this notion that every pick turns into gold and you can't possibly part with them. They're just picks. A lot of them turn out to be average.

It all comes down to who is likely to be available with your current lot. If your recruiting guy is good, and haggis is, and he thinks luko/Rankine or whoever are worth the price, then you do it.

Has any established player been traded for that much ? Judd? 3 picks us ridiculous.
Notwithstanding the circumstances why Griffen was traded out and WB's wish to get Boyd, Boyd was traded to WB for 2014 pick #6 and Ryan Griffen. Griffen himself was a former pick #3 and at 28 was probably in the prime of his career and a proven star player so worth what, a mid r1 pick and a late r1 pick?

So WB paid about an early/mid r1, mid r1 and late r1 picks for Tom Boyd after one year from being drafted.

did he say if adelaide offered picks 8, 13 16 and THEIR FUTURE for pick 1...then year, it will be their bloody future they are selling. Only way I would even countenance that is if it was 8,13,16 & future 1st for Carlton's pick 1 and 2019 1st round pick which is very very likely to be top 3

I would be upset if the Crows had pick 1 and didnt do that deal if the situations were reverse.

Carlton fans are imbeciles.

No way would I want us to give up FOUR 1sts for Luko.

Tom Browne is an idiot. How bout we give up half our ****ing list for pick 1. Will be glad when the draft is over so I don't have to hear this shit anymore. Take our 4 picks to the draft and get 4 good players. Our draft hand is killing the vics wanting us to sabotage it for 1 unproven player. GAGF.

Well who is this B. Caldwell lad?
He's one I certainly haven't seen play?
Very high ranking for a player not even mentioned in any of the Phantom drafts and Power Rankings?
Is he Jye Caldwell's twin brother?

I don’t see the Crows trading 3 picks for 1 player as “selling the farm”. That term has been thrown around a lot by the opponents of any pickswap. I see it more as a “mortgage” on the farm!

So we get to keep the damn thing and still get ourselves a nice piece of farm equipment to help pay back the bank. In this case it would be the latest 21st century combine harvester with all the bells and whistles that would make your neighbours jealous and have the locals all excited.

Farmers do this all the time. What’s the big deal?
Geez you’d want him to be another Wayne Carey for three first rounders though. A lot of pressure on the lad

Players taken by the Crows with picks 10-15 over the last decade:

Dangerfield
Davis
Talia
Smith
B Crouch*
Lever
Milera
Gallucci
Fogarty

Pick 3 of those players.

That's an example of what Lukosius would need to be worth for this proposed trade reported by FiveAA last night to be worthwhile for the Crows.

wouldnt make a difference if you have seen him play, talent id isnt your strength :)

Did hear a firmer rumour that, notwithstanding potential trades on the night, the expectation is that either Rozee or Caldwell will be available and selected at 8.

My own thought is that may reflect some uncertainty at what GC has planned for 6, them being keen on both those 2.
