i think this is a more likely scenario imo.
rankine is ready to go and we need him, whereas luko is a bit off it maybe 3-4 years away, and if we still want him by then we could easily get him for a 1st and 2nd rounder when uncontracted.

People are going absolutely insane now. In what world would any team offer 4 first rounders for a single pick? You could get two genuine established stars of the competition in trades for that. No draftee is worth more than 2 early picks.

That's an example of what Lukosius would need to be worth for this proposed trade reported by FiveAA last night to be worthwhile for the Crows.

Afl loves this shit. Keeps it in the news cycle. Crows aren't getting luko, rankine or rozee. Needed to be done during trade period to nab one of these lads. All 3 going to gc will be a blessing in disguise if it eventuates. See us getting back at least 2 of the SA boys in 2 to 3 years. Players out of contract always cost less.

My own thought is that may reflect some uncertainty at what GC has planned for 6, them being keen on both those 2.

Picks 2, 3 & 6 is a massive hand to hold in this draft. No way are GC doing any trade of any type for these picks.

Let's just accept that we'll take our current picks to the draft and hopefully draft some very good players.

Gold Coast are not the basket case they are portrayed as. Had a schedule and injury list from hell this year. Have finally got a good coaching panel, excellent facilities, back office now professional, AFL firmly holding their hand, ditched all the trouble making players, have great weathewr through winter. Will improve next year and following years. Getting players to defect from them in future will be much harder and if a player wants to go they'll play very tough.

We have 34 currently on our list. Hence the 6 picks. Depends on if we go short again. Last year we wen 38 + 6 Rookies. We will probably go this way again. But if we do trade up and lose 8 ,13 and 16. Then our picks could be something like 2, 21, 73, 80 to give us the 38 on our list. All depends on how big we want our list.
