News Dusty taking personal leave

Fully boomer brained, garbage take.

The man’s father died, overseas, during a global pandemic that restricted his ability to see him. He’s been on the road, delivering - including a flag - for years. He’s given us, and probably even a miserable sod like yourself, untold joy for the last five years. Yet you demand more, based on the hyper empiricism of “well, he’s being paid to play.” He’s given us more than we could have ever wanted, put the toys back in the cot.

It’s time to stop posting.
Fully precious-baby approach to life. Unrealistic dummy sucking.
Dusty's Dad passed away nearly 4 months ago.

People have gone back to work a lot sooner when a parent passes away. I did. Millions have.
Life is for the living.
Dusty's Dad surely must want Dusty to live his best life.
The RFC can be cathartic for Dusty now and take his mind off thinking about his father. All around the world people get back into life after losing a loved one and it's a wise medical practice to use anything to take his mind off the grieving period. Distractions and time are the only thing capable of getting people through grieving. Social events help a person (like weddings) and work is a known device to benefit someone grieving.

Grow up princess and experience the realities of life and tough love instead of the cotton wool bubble you survive in.

But keep posting. I looooooove the wokeness of little petals! lol

Good luck to him whatever he decides , Footy will certainly help keep dusty on the rails , we won’t rush him but at some point we need to know as it is pivotal to our list management. If he’s off our list then we bring in Taranto and green over next 2y that’s how bigger deal this is
I wish Dusty peace, happiness and respect for what he has done for the Tigs. He's our greatest player. And an immortal of our club. Missed two rounds now, and I'm happy for Dusty to play, retire or take up gardening....but this week the RFC, our Club, Dusty's employer needs to ring Dusty, and respectfully ask him directly...."Dusty, are you coming back to work this week"...."If not when?"

The Richmond Football Club is not a Charity. We are an employer, a business and a Sporting Organisation in the beginning of our Sporting season.

Dusty either starts playing, or the club needs to make some long term decisions.

He’s had two weeks off ffs.

All around the world people that have worked at the same workplace for 12 years get a thing called long service leave, and all around the world people get a thing called sick leave.

Again, he’s been away for two ****ing weeks!!

Good employers have empathy and look after their people - especially those that have provided over and above exceptional service...
& how do any of us know that the RFC have NOT had a conversation with Dusty about if/when he is coming back?

Nice to see you back posting though deliberate...

I agree with you

For every person who can 'tough it out' there are several who do not work that way.

My grandmother died and my uncle took his mother dying so hard he relapsed and died a year later. The world is far more complex than just 'get on with it'.

When your work is almost entirely in the public eye and your every move watched, you don't really get the space many others get by throwing themselves into their work.

You know your an old fart when you use "wokeness" as an insult. Nice one Pa. Gotta love how the Stoic old farts never stop whinging and complaining, triggered at the drop of a hat but pretend they're the one's "telling it like it is... derp". Soft as.

Everyone deals with grief differently. Most people return to work after a death in the family for a distraction but also to pay the bills.

Dusty doesnt need to worry about the financial side of things. He'll do things his way as he always has, if that means he's back in round 20, so be it. If he's back in round 5, so be it. If he retires, so be it.

If he comes back early, before he's ready, he wont play at his best and people complaining about him taking too much time off will then complain that he's not playing well.

I lost my ol man last year.
Took a week off.
The difference between my situation and Dustys.
There was no connection between my job and My ol man.
Dusty had that connection with his ol man and football was a big part of it.
All of a sudden after rnd 1 he couldn't ring his ol man after the game and talk about the game etc.
Take as long as you want Dusty and whatever decision you'll make is fine with me and the club.

Can’t remember seeing it reported that Dusty was able to attend funeral in NZ.perhaps after NZ open borders mid to late April I think Dusty may be able to get across it may assist in his healing?

Only thing I disagree with there is that whinging isn’t confined to any generation it is just more prevalent in all generations than it’s ever been seemingly.
We are all spoilt today and the world has become a great big whingefest, no further evidence than somebody complaining because a bloke doesn’t feel like playing footy for they team the support.
At the end of the day big ****ing deal footy is such an insignificant thing in the reality of life and a bloke has gone away to do other things.
Even if he never plays again so what.

No doubt that played a huge factor.
He should/will go across for his own sake.

Exhibit a .... Twitter.
Only have to see the proliferation of nut jobs, both left and right wing, to realise this is true.
A generation of whingers and there'll be no turning back.

You think people in other countries don’t get sick leave and long service leave?

Yes, plenty of places don't. Have you not heard of America for example

Pretty much only Australia does LSL as well

It might not be official government policy apart from Australia, but plenty of companies in America and around the world offer long service leave, usually called sabbatical leave outside Australia.

Pretty ironic that you return fire with a few bloated generalisations of your own don’t you think ,,,,, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to reason a possible return date after seeing pics and reports of dusty out on the town

Can we just shut this thread now? All full of negative bullshit no matter what side of the argument you are on. He ain't playing so lets just deal with it and move on until he is rather than trying to speculate.
The problem with doing that is it will infiltrate into other threads. it won't stop people posting about it.
Better to just have it in the one place.
