Darling and Hurn out would be my starting point.

Ryan doesn't want to put in the effort, so he can earn his spot back in the WAFL as well. He will likely be saved by Willie's injury.

Darling ended up with 15 disposals and a goal. I fully expect to hear lines like "He worked himself into the game" and the classic "He'll be better for the run."

I'd be stunned if he got dropped.

However, Fagan on Friday said Robinson – who turns 33 in June – was available for AFL selection, but the decision was made to bring him back via the club’s VFL side, probably for more than just a week.

“To be fair to Mitch he’s probably been battling with bits and pieces for a little while now,” Fagan said.

“Hopefully he can just get back in the reserves, play a good stretch of footy, get his form back and his fitness fully back and challenge for a spot in the seniors.

“We just want to make sure that when he comes back into the seniors that he’s not having those niggles ... because he’s been battling for a while.”

If only we had a selection policy like Fagan's..

Fagan has that luxury because Brisbane are sitting third on the ladder.

Imagine if Yeo was getting an extended run in the WAFL after recovering from OP. Fans would scream blue murder, because as long as the team keeps losing, whomever is not getting selected always seems to be more appealing. It's the whole "grass is always greener" thing.

It doesn't matter who comes in and out.

The reality is that there is a massive cultural problem at the club...worse than our drug culture in the mid 2000s

We're unfit, zero care and zero drive....this is the problem since the 2018 GF

In 2019, we were relying on 1 to 2 quarters and getting through

It was a club uber happy with itself (so you should be after a flag) but a club that was satisfied with what they achieved. Unlike Hawks with Mitchell, Hogde, Clarkson or Tigers with Gale, Hardwick and Cochin

Simpson has lost the players, I've felt that for 18 months. On a paper their is enough talent!

Ultimately, it was to change starting with Simpson, Trevor 'job for life' Nisbett, ROB

Bring back Vozzo as CEO

The most alarming numbers is in the total sprints figures. We are getting beaten in this department every single week and it's getting worse each round. Port had 253 sprints to our 183. So whilst we are covering ground we aren't willing - or fit enough - to do the gut running that wins footy matches. There's no point in a bloke running 13/14/15km if he's not putting in some hard runs because he'll just forever be second to the ball.

296 to 201 this week for total sprints. Our worst numbers yet and unsurprisingly resulted in our biggest loss of the season.

It's all just deckchairs on the titanic really. There's a lot more where this came because we are just miles below the fitness required.

In: More youngsters - specifically Hough.
Out: Senior players. JD, Hurn, Ryan and Cripps should all be on shaky ground at the selection table but I'd be surprised if any are omitted.

It was always a long shot having one last crack, especially as the club must have had at least an inkling Shep was going to be an early retirement. It just felt abundantly clear that we were past our peak. I can see the temptation though because we kept pace with the top eight despite a huge injury toll in the first half of 2021. Obviously the wheels fell off in the last third but I guess they were thinking it was an aberration and we could get the band back in full swing for a big preseason and one last crack at glory.

At the time I thought it was optimistic, but my chief concern was it would set our rebuild back a year because we were looking at another no mans land finish of 6th to 10th. But as it's transpired we are dead certainties for a top five pick and it's looking like it's ggoing to be between us and North for the top pick (after Brisbane is pushed into taking Ashcroft). So in terms of list building we're actually going to be in the same position as if we had pensioned off JK and Hurn at the end of last season.

Out: Hurn, Ryan (doesn't defend), Cripps, Darling, one of Gaff/Redden/Shuey (time to pull the plug on the rebuild - one of these guys has to make way for the rest of the year)

In: Rotham, Edwards, Petch, Langdon, Barrass

The cupboard is bare...

Well its obvious now that there is a problem at the club

change needs to happen

I don't really care who we pick this week other than a full strength backline with Barrass and McGovern if both available. There's not much to be gained taking Kennedy and Hurn all the way to Brisbane for a game we won't win that ultimately doesn't matter anyway.

If I had my way Clark, West, Jones, O'Neill, Foley, Naish, Hough would all play. I'd give young mids turns at tagging Neale in the middle and McLuggage on the wing and have Kelly playing half forward, Shuey half back etc. but we'll end up playing Gaff at the centre bounces and baby Jesus will weep.

Please no. Ryan is a confidence player. Chucking him back in twos and making example of him is not what you do to those players. There certain players that don't respond well to that.

Ryan's carrying an injury... or at least some kind of niggle. Commentators mentioned that he was hardly training during the week.

Sorry F him.. he hasn’t shown up all year and is another one grossly unfit and out of shape…
He can go back and decide whether he wants to put the work in or sook and quit..
Seems making an example of anyone only applies to those under 30 games.. look where its got us.

The problem is that if you want to "make an example" of everyone that played like shit, you'd be dropping maybe 15 players.

Someone needs to take Nesbitt to task

He said last night, on radio, that the last 3 weeks were unacceptable. Ok, prove it. Someone needs to ask him very seriously that if that is true, and these are standards and results that we refuse to accept, why are we playing all our senior players no matter what, week in, week out, irrespective of what they serve up? Why do they get a free ride and are never, ever dropped?

Don't speak the usually spin and BS and then do exactly the same thing again this week at selection. Actions speak louder then words

Having players immune to being dropped is what’s got us in this mess in the first place.

Some of Ryan’s work the last few weeks has really disturbed me. Love the bloke, but he’s toddling back off the mark as slowly as possible, putting on absolutely zero real pressure, doing bizarre celebrations when we are 80 points down, making schoolboy errors when we know he’s much better than that. It isn’t about making an example of him. It’s that he deserves to be dropped.
