Collingwood's the 1 team out of the supposed contenders that don't have an obvious and logical trade option being talked about....I think that's the biggest hurdle before you worry about WC not wanting to deal with them.

Interesting to read Ben Hudson quit the crows and has requested a move to the Bulldogs, this could open up the opportunity for the pies to get a hold of pick 5 if something like this occured:

Bulldogs: Gain pick 10 and Hudson
Adelaide jordan mcmahon + alan didak
Collingwood Gain Pick 5 (on traded by the crows to pies for didak) + Meesen

Should Judd choose the Pies, they could then offer pick 5 and our next first rnd pick between 14-17 for Judd and possibly a player. Or the Pies could try and work something else out and gain pick 10 as well which would be more than enough to get Judd and have two top 10 picks to offer WCE.

Thoughts?

Possible but I don't like it.... don't wanna lose Didak!!

If we want Judd we will have to give up somebody as valuable as Didak.

Granted.... but I'd prefer it not be Dids... I may be hung for this but........ Thomas and first rd pick???

Ideally what we want is for Judd to decide he definitely wants to come to Collingwood which forces WCE to deal with us... then we MAY be able to get away with a deal a little more favourable to us..... Lonie anyone? :D

Mate, It'll take more than Thomas and pick 14:thumbsdown:.

Not a chance on Daisy. I think pound for pound Daisy is far more consistent that Didak. Both are gold on their day but Didak can have too many bad ones.

Personally I wouldn't give up either, but if a choice was to be made, Didak would be the one. Especially is you believe the rumours that he wants to head to Adelaide.

Daisy will be paraded out by our marketing people as the next Daicos. Too many ppl would be pissed if he was traded.

come off it. Collingwood has no picks, but you don't want to give up players? Hasn't Pendlebury been touted as a likely option? He, Thomas, and another pick might get it done

Oddly enough I don't think Chris will consider which club has the best picks. He will (IMO) chose a club that we would prefer to go to and then leave the details to the little guys.

Unfortunately for WCE, if Chris is stubborn about his club then they will need to decide whether "shitty" deal is better than no deal at all.

Its not going to happen.

West Coast aren't going to help a team they will compete next year for a top 4 spot with get better.

I believe that they said they won't deal with Collingwood.

West Coast don't have the power to stop Judd leaving but they do have the power to stop him going to Collingwood. Collingwood needs for West Coast to co-operate to get him due to draft positions.

It won't happen. The only way it will is if WCE get 120 cents in the dollar from Judd and decimate the Collingwood side in the process.

Its not trolling like someone said earlier. Its common sense. Who makes a team (arguably) better than you even better when you want to compete for the flag over the next few years?

^^^^ I think my proposal is extremely fair for all clubs that will be involved if Judd told the eagles he wanted to become a pie.

Bulldogs will get the ruckman they are chasing and will still have a first rnd selection be it 10 or between 14-17.

Adelaide will gain jordan mcmahon and Alan Didak who according to Neil Craig provides the club with the goal scoring power they need.

WCE will have gained 2 first rnd selections one in the the top 5 or possibly two in the top 10 and maybe a player too.

Collingwood will have gained the services of Chris Judd.

I'm beginning to think a package deal, something of this calibre will eventuate if Judd chose the Pies.

all I know is if I was a Collingwood person, I would hate to lose either Pendles or Thomas. Both are undoubted future stars IMO.

As much as it hurts to say it, I see more Hird in Thomas than any other player in the league.

But without picks it's going to be tough.

Enter the 3rd party...

I agree. No way we will part with Pendles and Thomas. I think Did's and Adelaide will have to happen. But that has been touted around the boards so much today that it is not an original thought or anything.

Leon is someone we will part with IMO.

I would love to see Judd at Collingwood. Even if that meant giving up a Didak, Rusling, Leon, Obrien (two or three) plus a draft pick. It is not like we haven't given up players before and they have been great at their next club:

Schauble (sydney)
Williams (sydney)
Scotland (carlton)
Mal Michael (Brisbane)

even Cloke was doing well at Carlton before his injury.

**** Chris Judd. I'm happy with what we're building now.

All this is doing is taking our eyes off this Friday.

Carlton or PSD, here Judd comes!

Can you really imagine West Coast losing Judd for nothing in the PSD? They are not that stupid. They will take the best deal that they can get for him.

I have said this on the Carlton Board, but it is almost getting to the stage where I would be surprised if Judd didn't play for Carlton next year.

Could you imagine the likes of Nick Stevens entering the PSD and Port getting nothing?? I know he was never the best player in the comp. but it has happened to a fairly talented player in the past.

Whilst I agrees WCE, Judd and a Melbourne based club will come to terms I would not be completely astounded if a "Nick Stevens" happened.

Essendon will be able to offer WC a very attractive deal if they're intent on landing Judd. And even if you can satisfy WC, you've still got to satisfy Judd. I tend to agree that Carlton are the likeliest destination, but it's far from a fait accompli.

BTW Judd will be at Carlton next year.
I think everyone is in denial about it, but there is no doubt a Carlton and Judd trade with West Coast is the fairest outcome for everyone : )
