WTF!? Take a look at the Adelaide team. It is so workmanlike and average it is pathetic that we lost to them earlier in the year. Time to rectify things.

ROFL.

Players that will be out due to susp. or injuries:

Ryder - Susp.
Lloyd - Susp.
Welsh - Wrist
Lonergan - Susp.

Adelaide will surely pull your pants down with these players not taking part in September action.

The only thing you will rectify is that you made up the numbers in the 8.

McVeigh is who you meant. Apparently had some plate put into it as it wasn't fractured and will be able to play but will be in pain.

Lonergan and Ryder will probably get off. Adelaide are garbage. Personally think even Carlton is better then them and you just had a bad week.

Not sure how we didn't deserve to play finals? Are you saying Carlton didn't also as we beat you comfortably this year?

I am telling ya i am calling BS on the part of Voss claiming all these players will be out and it is lulling us into a false sense of security so we go into the game with a different mindset. I am expecting at least 50% of their so called outs this week to play and the mind games have begun.

Dont believe a word Voss says FFS how can he be so sure on Monday??? I am waiting for the major "Ohh they pulled up o.k during the week so it is good to have them out there" line he will use when half of these blokes run out against us.

Dont fall for this sh!t Blues fans only 2 maybe 3 of the names mentioned will miss this week. This game will be tough and we need our best effort to get over Brissy up there in a final.

Might actually help to read or listen to what he had to say. He expects all of those players willprobably miss and are planning as if they'll be without them. He hasn't ruled them out completely.

From lions.com.au:

Coach Michael Voss said the above five were all less than 50 per cent chances of playing.

“If they come up then good but we’re not expecting them to,” Voss said.

“So we go and plan ahead without them there, and obviously the personnel that we put in have got a job to do against a good opposition.”

I'm pretty sure Welsh hurt his wrist (however, I may be wrong).

Doubt Lonergan and Ryder will get off - clear punches to the head/face (Hodge and Bateman should get done also).

Didn't say you didn't deserve to play finals, but you did scrape in by the skin of your teeth and luck went your way relying on other teams to lose i.e. Port, Hawks. Beating us twice this year doesn't mean that we shouldn't be in the finals. Because team A beats team B doesn't mean team C is clearly better. All about match-ups/coaching etc.

Seriously - good luck to you, IF you can beat the Crows.

The Warnock deabte is an interesting one. I think we should just give it a crack. WE wont get deep into september with the current team. Bring in Warnock, see if Kruz can be a spark up foward. Bring back the Betts and Garlett. Leave in Yarran. Setanta swing man.

Yes, yes, yes and yes.
If Merrett is out, stretch them with Kruezer at chf.

2 out of the 3 Garlett, Yarran, Betts have to play,
just to give some defensive pressure up forward.

Mids have to be prepared to get behind the ball.

Can't play both Cloke and O'Hailphin, so would stick with Irish down back,
in the hole. If not, then Walker is going to have to step up.

You are a joke like your club, the fact that your team only won 10 games shows your team is weaker than Adelaide who won 14 games. The AFL should have a cut off of 12 wins to at least qualify for finals.

The fact you think Essendon is stronger because Adelaide is more horsemam like is funny.

Good luck, i'll give Essendon a 10 goal start.

Seems as though the lunatics have the keys and are running amok today.

Over on the Lions board they are trying to convince themselves that Jamison isn't fit to wipe Merretts butt, and the Waite = Roe.

God bless this forum for providing equal opportunity to everyone.........

We got smashed ont he weekend, lucky for us we get another week to redeem ourselves and the boys must prove that last week was just one of those days.

If you consider players like Murphy, Judd, Kruezer had down days we have to be happy, also can you imagine if we had a Waite, Jammo and Austin available to be in the backline, we would be such a better side.

That all being said, for some reason we looked falt after about 15 minutes, the Crows moved to a 8 man backline and they ran in numbers and our blokes didn't follow them so they ran and had many free, so be it, we live and learn.

This week we need to get serious with out ins and outs, no favours for anybody, its about winning and nothing else.

Players who I think will could be dropped this week (different reasons, some form, some matchup, some experience)
Browne
Yarran
Johnson
Wiggins
Armfield

Players who i would consider bringing in;
Warnock - to allow Kreuzer/Hampson rotate foward
Betts - forward pressure, plus is our 2nd highest goal scorer
Garlett - forward pressure, this was missed a lot on Saturday
Bentick - the in and under Hadley type player
Fisher - Forwards, we need forwards
Grigg - his run off half back or tagging role, he can kick it deep forward

Unfortunately not Jacobs, Brisbane have mobile ruckman in Clarke and Brennan, Jacobs is the slower and wouldn't be abel to keep up.

Last time we played imo we only won cause Jonno Brown had a poor kicking night, kick 6 behinds if i recall, so this will be our danger, we need to man him up and play a sweeper who is prepared to stand in front of him to cut it off, just every other team does to Fev.

If the outs for Brisbane end up being true then we are lucky, but the Lions are tough and should never be taken lightly. Shoudl be a great game, but i am for one very nervous about this game.

Hmmmm i saw his press conference and he is playing mind games. 80% of the outs will play and it seems on "On the Couch" last night Healy , Walls and Hird were thinking the exact same way i am and it is impossible to say on a Monday how the players will be come Saturday. Voss is just using an old Leigh Matthews tactic.

By the way i will probably win tattslotto this week but i am planning my future plans as if i wont...

Paranoid much? :p

Yes, you'll see a few of those players named on Thursday. Why wouldn't you give your best players (and yes those 4 would be 4 of the first 6 named each week) every possible second to get up. Not sure if you heard the entire presser, but if you listen to what he's saying, the medical staff informed him that all of those players are unlikely to come up. Yep, a cunning subterfuge, that.

Can't recall Matthews ever playing selection games. Certainly he'd do the above - name players who were 50-50 or even worse - and if they didn't come up then they'd be replaced. Unless you've got a better memory than me. Voss has been much the same this year. I'm interested to see that you refer to that as "mind games".

BTW, can you let me know your lotto technique? If you're probably winning lotto then you're obviously employing a different strategy to me! :D

We know what you are up to. You are here to infiltrate us .. to make us think we don't know what we know. But we know what you know and you know what we know and we don't know Vossy knows but you never know if Vossy knows more than we know ... you know?

Nice try.

We also weren't picked to belt Carlton by 69 points so stranger things have happened. When you think about it our team is better then Adelaide's and should beat it:)

Looks like the inmates are running the assylum at Essendon.

This thread is about Carlton v Brisbane, p*ss off to the Adelaide board.

Man, I thought he'd crack.

Has the dominatrix outfit come back from the cleaners? Bring in parrot and pick up that new set of nipple clamps from my desk on the way past.

You guys are going to smash the Lions this week, and go in against Geelong full of confidence. (Obviously I think the Bullies will beat the Cats)
That will be one interesting match as you guys accounted for them quite easily in the end. (Last time you met)

Very interesting finals series.

it's funny reading the lions forums, every time I have read comments about us in their forum they always go on about how they 'haven't had their best 22 against the blues' and 'the umpires cost us the game the 2 times they played the blues', making excuses for their losses

when an opponents fans start doing that it makes a bit more confident that we may knock them off, whilst i dont think we will win it seems as though their fans are preparing to use some of these excuses as a copout, its not like we have been at full strength and will on sat night, reality is at full strength their isnt much between the sides imo

This week could really throw anything up.

Our defense has held up remarkably well, but showed signs on the weekend that the pressure of being three key defenders down is starting to mount. Thornton gave substantial height, reach, weight and strength on the weekend and it showed...we also lost his attacking rebound as he had to be in the contest rather than third man-up. That being the case if Bradshaw is out it's probably the most crucial omission for the Lions. I think Brennan will spend a lot of time up forward, and Clark will do most of his resting in a pocket.

If Vossy watched our game closely he will see that Adelaide put a lot of pressure on the ball carrier and didn't allow us to thread our way though the middle with any sort of ease. We have a few with questionable disposal when under pressure and if Brisbane have enough hard-running mids/wings/flanks at their disposal they may try for similar tactics.

If Merrett is still in doubt with his hammy it's a big bonus for us. Hard to say who will go to Fev. Likely to be Patfull to Fev, and Roe or Henderson to CHB. I think Fev has Patfull covered for pace so could be a win if the big fella is switched on...and if he can't switch on for a final...well nuff' said really.

Lot's of possible permutations to this game. I'll accept any result as long as we put up an honest performance.
