When I went to sleep Nicholls had played one of the worst 14-off-80 ball innings I had ever seen; largely because it wasn’t someone digging in backs to the wall surviving tooth and nail - he was actually trying to score, to get off strike, but he was shanking absolutely everything, all his blocks were off an inside edge - it was awful.

When I woke up about 4.30 and checked the score and read the cricinfo description I had to laugh - finally nails one and it happens to middle Mitchell’s bat and flies to a fielder

England & NZ are very multicultural countries but their cricket teams don't represent this, if anything teams are getting less diverse. I find monoculture boring.
