Well it’s clear to see why they didn’t pick collingwood, who would be a logically choice seeing as they won their only flag against them, they thought the would get embarrassed on their big night celebrating mediocrity.
Well, according to Andrew Bassett on SEN this morning, we DID actually request Collingwood, but, you know, we don’t actually decide the fixture - that’s up to the AFL.

Your player was being totally disingenuous.
Imagine having to try and lift your players with an imaginary spat. 🤣

Imagine selling 2 for 1 memberships to fake the total numbers! 🤣
🤣🤣

Had a squiz at their preview thread. Seems like a pretty uninformed mob. They'll also see this as a few are stalking this thread.
You’d expect that after 150 years, 1 flag, 27 spoons and an unrivalled record of consistent failure that they’d have established a morsel of humility. Their preview thread proves the contrary. Strong Wealdstone Raider vibes on that board.

A la EFC last year?
That is unfair - we had plenty to celebrate but we wrapped it in the mediocrity of the day.
I am just hoping that we turn up ready to play and provide a good account of ourselves.

Imagine totally ignoring my point because you can’t actually dispute it 🙄
I could give 2 ****s who you wanted, all we know is Collingwood didn't want you.

We are your rebound and you are relying on us to fill your coffers.

Yeah I’m sure that’s all they’re talking about this week, get a grip 😂
It’s a tongue and cheek comment and all the Saints fans are having a cry about it

Yeh we played a good side and were terrible, lost by 4 goals hardly embarrassed. We could’ve easily requested the game be played against north Melbourne and penciled in a win.

hahah this is actually hilarious, I rate it.

Will be an interesting game! Will Steele be the straw that broke the camels back for us with injuries piling.

You guys have had the wood over us the last few, would be great to get one back on our 150th - but hey, can definitely see it going either way.

Good luck 👍👍

Think we at least need to name Hobbs & Voss as emergencies if we don't play them.

And we need to stop with Phillips - that wide open dropped mark i50 last week when he thought he heard footsteps can't be accepted at AFL level.

Ok. One of your guys said we were the final preference of the big 4 for this game, yeah? So maybe it's out there as a rumour and Langford had heard it too and chose to respond.

If there's a club who's very history would be making up imaginary spats to lift it's players, it'd be the 1 flag and 27 spoon St Kilda FC. But I'm sure you recognise that and you're just in here to be a dick and try stir the pot.

Anyhoo, back to your board for you where you can continue the discussion on how you'll waltz to a 10 goal win.

Anywho.

BZT going down is unexpectedly my biggest worry atm. Baldwin in for him if needed I guess?
100% it's turned into a big concern which goes to show how far he's come in the last 12 months as I definitely couldn't have seen myself saying that this time last year.

I haven't seen any VFL but you'd have to think Baldwin would be a show based on the VFL match reports, the lack of size on Hayes and the fact Stewart, Reid and Cox are all injured.

Yeah, we've only been crap for 20 years. Our history prior to that is better than mediocre.
St. Kilda would be chuffed to call themselves mediocre over 150 years, they've been crap.

So we have Hobbs, Voss and Hind all bashing the door down in the VFL.

Hobbs is mid or small forward, so he'd be looking at Langford, Caldwell, Perkins, Menzie, Davey, Guelfi, even Durham to have an off week.

Voss is a tall forward, and with Wright out for a while, it's a matter of who else comes up to compete for those spots. Lately it's been a two-ruck setup with one of Draper or Phillips in the forward line. Can Voss displace Phillips, and if he does, who plays relief ruck? Alternatively, do we make the forward line a bit taller this week, and play Voss, Jones and

Hind is a rebound defender, 42 touches in the 2s. Would be looking for D'Ambrosio's spot (D'Ambrosio being a late in this week), but D'Ambrosio did well enough to keep his spot, so it's bit of a question whether they leave out one or the other, or leave them both out and stick Langford back in defence to make way for Voss/Weideman. Weideman should in theory be straight back in from what has been said, but perhaps that toe injury isn't as innocuous as they wanted us to think.

Stringer also played a good game in the VFL and is likely to come back in based on all the noise coming out of the club even if we fans are not sure that is a great idea... again probably looking at Langford, Caldwell, Perkins, Menzie, Davey, Durham, Guelfi for a spot. It's nice to have competition for spots 🤔

Heppell was subbed off with "managing his minutes" serving as justification. Does he have the athleticism to play 4 quarters on the MCG, or does he start as the sub, get subbed off? Surely he doesn't play VFL... but he's also the weakest link on a wing atm. If you pull him out and put Langford on a wing that could create space for one of the above...

Guelfi only just got under the wire as the starting sub last week, did he do enough in 40 minutes of football to stay in the seniors this week?

Jones had 4 touches running his defender ragged and messing up their defensive structure so Langford could kick all the goals, so he probably stays in given the size of the MCG and his ability to run 15km in a game. Also an aerial threat if ignored by the opposition, which is never a bad thing. But still. 4 touches...

Does Zerk-Thatcher need a week off with that ankle?

Does the MCG become a factor with some of the less able runners? Do we try and go for a more marking style set up with a taller forward line, pull e.g. Davey out of the forward line or set him up to be subbed in/out to make way for Voss or Stringer?

Meanwhile, Walla had a minor quad strain.... MCG super sub?

When I checked in this morning the thread was hilarious. Now it's been dragged to their level if the conversation has turned to argument over who is less crap.
