what a weak weak pathetic argument to justify a weak pathetic bowler by a weak pathetic fan...

Well, it is the new Lee defence- first it was..."He was injured" then it was "he can't get a game" now it is "they don't let him bowel in the second innings"

All three are rubbish- he aint good enough, but gets in now because others are injured, out of form, too old or too young...

actually one defence arguement used for lee PREVIOUSLY was Lee was good at getting the tail out and closing innings quickly.

how they change their story...

Well, they have to do everything in their power to show their boy is being persecuted by the cricket world...

Someone give me one legitimate reason why Brett Lee is no good?

That's right. None.

-Averaged over 40 in tests since his "return" from injury in 2001.
-Good ODI player while being carted in tests.
-Lee is the bowling version of Michael Bevan in ODIs.

in the last 25 test matches he has consistently averaged about 39 runs per wicket.

he gets smashed by tail enders

he can't bowl more than about 5 overs consequetively before getting tired (compared to dizzy, kaspa, mcgrath, mcgill, warne etc who seem to bowl tirelessly)

he or his manager whinged incessently when he was out of the test side, DESPITE the fact that the bowling attack including kaspa were performing very well.

on his return series he gets smashed for 40 runs per wicket, and was smashed in the first innings despite getting first crack at the new ball.

I reckon Bichel, Inness, williams, rofe, bracken, kaspa all deserve their crack at the test side AHEAD of Lee.

he is 30 years old and still hasn't learned how to bowl fast without
he should be in the ODI side, but not in the test side.

his last 25 tests have been worse than any other fast bowlers 25 tests played by a fast bowler.

Thats why he's lucky to even get a guernsey.

It's pretty obvious Lee isn't in the top 10 bowlers given his Ashes performance and the fact he couldn't make the team ahead of Gillespie and Kaspra before the Ashes. I think you have to wait for Jones to do something outside of England before you can rank him higher.

My top 10 (with ICC ranking shown).

pretty fair top 10.

akhtar is probalby one of the laziest bowlers going around though.

when you compare him to ntini, vaas, jones, Freddie, mcgrath even Lee who work reasonably hard, Shaiob is a lazy pr!ck.

Lee is a wicket taker, someone who should bowl in short spells of fast pace and aggresion. He does have 161 test wickets from 41 tests, but averages 33 (40 in his last 25 tests) because of how many runs he leaks between the wickets.

I wouldn't bowl him for more than 5 overs at a time, he doesn't have the accuracy to build pressure like McGrath and Warne can, or Gillespie used to. Unfortunatly for Australia, Lee had to bowl too many overs (191 in the series) in the Ashes because only Warne was reliable for the majority of the series, McGrath wasn't at his best for 2 of the 3 tests he played.

What puzzled me was that Ponting kept bringing him on to bowl at Flintoff? Why? That was the most overated one sided 'battle' you will ever see. Fred kept taking him apart.

Question though. Who better can Australia currently play?

Andy Bichel deserves another crack
Rofe a very disciplined bowler
White or Cullen as a development player (much like hte legendary richie benaud or steve waugh (who were carried by the side for the first 3 seasons of his career)
Inness was a great FC bowler before politics in the victorian side forced him out
lewis is ordinary but couldn't worse that bing

I'll give three

Ashes- second test 2005

Lee, as lead bowler 17 overs, 1 for 111

As comparison, Dizzy bowled 22 as Lee's partner, and took 2 for 92 from 22 overs. Kasper was the thirds bowler, and took 3 for 80 in 15 overs

Third Test

Lee, opening with McGrath, who was NOT 100%. Lee bowled 27 overs, taking 4 for 100 (at least he got wickets)

In the second dig, Puner used him in quick bursts, with 12 overs, 1 for 60...more effective in the first dig

Fourth Test

Lead bowler, McGrath out again....32 overs, 1 for 131

So, as an opening bowler in three innings, Lee bowled 66 overs, took 6 wickets for 342 runs.

Leaking? That's a *****ing flood...bring on Hurricane Pretty boy!

And in Test matches, you can't have a leading bowler bowl just 5 overs. Lee claimed to be in the best condition of his life and he is gone after 30 minutes? Maybe he ought to bowl for the Poms and get the free substitutes....

Lee- Treble Centurion!!!!!!

10: Pathan 26.15

BRETT LEE 33.04

This bagging of Lee is ridiculous. He is not that far of the other players and has only 12 of his 161 wickets against Bangladesh. While "the great" Andrew Flintoff only betters his average by 1.52
