Freo fans: tonight hurts but at least be courteous to each other while venting.

Oppostion fans or anyone out to have a crack: don't post here. You will get banned and you will get points.

Fascinating how you have an issue with Sturt after watching that game.

Jackson took one whole mark. Brayshaw? The whole back line? Banfield? Johnson? Walters? Walker?

Nope. Sturt apparently

Wtf
I thought Johnson was almost one positive to be fair, strangely best he's probably played

Yes. It actually makes perfect sense. I remember a little game in Adelaide almost 10 years ago where Fyfe's opponent was arguably best on ground. I don't remember anyone presenting this argument back then. If we had lost that game would it have been Fyfe's fault, you know, since Dangerfield had the sort of game he had.

Fyfe matched/bettered Yeo in certain areas around the ground, namely clearances. Maybe he has more of an impact if the player he kicks it to actually contests the ball.
Fyfe was our best midfielder tonight. Know what the best midfielder gets? The opposition’s best midfielder. Serong nor Brayshaw weren’t matched by Yeo. For a reason.

Meh. Yeo is 30+. Let them bask in his medal knowing he ll retire very very soon.

I thought he was decent too. To me it was indicative of how talent is there, but we are playing within ourselves. Johnson should have shined in previous games. Why didn't he? That's on the coach.

Jackson was absolutely horseshit and has been for 3 weeks now. He leaps at the ball too early and makes himself look silly.
Did nothing in the first half. Disrespected Williams and paid the price

His marking has dropped off for some reason. Thought he’d fixed that early doors

His short run of average form and lagging in the ruck the previous two weeks makes it curious why our coach thought it a good idea TO START OUR BEST RUCKMAN ON THE BENCH

I was trying to think how to word this…

Agree. They were both strangely…soft…they got belted…Yeo and Reid and Kelly embarrassed them
The issue I find with those two is they’re passionate yes, but have no grunt nor thuggery about them. Cripps has it, Reid had it tonight. There’s no chip on their shoulders.
Would love an enraged Serong, a ruthless Brayshaw. I mean I thought he didn’t come out of his shell after he got smashed by Gaff. If that was anyone else, would’ve just gone into a different mode.

That’s the difference also, I find, from losing to Carlton and Port. Just no grunt or ‘grind’ with the midfield. Fyfe has it when Ross was coaching. Hard working no nonsense.

Would love a Suban, Crowley, Cook. Tonight was thinking- Where’s Josh Carr v Reid.

Giving way too much credit to their game plan and not nearly enough to the talent they had.

Maybe this style of footy would work if you had Luke Hodge and 5 other guys who kick as well as Luke Hodge. We don't.
Precisely. That's why I mentioned that we don't have the ability to execute those skills over 4 quarters.

Thanks to Richmond, the game has evolved since the Hawthorn era and success is now measured by pressure and speed rather than skill and control.

For the first time, I'm really worried as a member of the club. I think we're hedging our bets on a game plan that doesn't stack up against the best teams. We got to play our type of game the last two weeks, but only because Carlton and Port didn't apply high pressure. As soon as the pressure is applied like it was tonight, we go to water.

How long is it going to take for us to build the necessary footskills to counter a Richmond-style gameplan? I think longer than our premiership window will allow...

The issue is Sonny was getting cooked by his opponent everywhere…he just doesn’t have the legs anymore, and Longmuir needs to bite the bullet

Short memories.
Walters was named in our best only 3 weeks ago vs Adelaide.
4th best on ground according to the coaches votes (21 disposals).
Last season he was our 2nd best goal kicker (behind Amiss).

Where’s that “ decade of domination “ dude

More like “ fortnight of fantasy “

That would be me, and I have said all year this is the beginning of the ride and we are not the finished product. I still think we will make the finals and will still enjoy this year.

If all we take from tonight is that we need Simpson in the team. JOM shouldn't be in the team and Walters needs a rest (last year). Then I can work with it.

Decade of Dominance... I am still riding that train.

I have brought businesses back from worse without the kind of talent and structural pieces we have in place.

Not with Hugh's and banners disposal efforts.

I agree with your post but especially in bold. We play cuddly footy. Fyfe plays with a desire from the old days. There was more mongrel under Connolly than we have with Longmuir. Hate to say it but Essendon with they 'edge' mindset is what we need. I don't see Longmuir giving us any kind of edge.

I have an issue with our whole forward line. I literally singled out Jackson, Banfield, and Walters in my post too. Not my problem you want to take it personally that I gave Sturt (also shit) the same treatment.

I think the point is that he's done nothing since. Three games and like 8 kicks total. He just looks completely shot.

Think that’s the one key to this group. Thought would’ve gained it the last two weeks-but very scared almost safe football. There needs to be an edge.
Fyfe was the only one willing to do it tonight- a reflection of playing for Ross.
